Travel advisory – Carnival, Port of Spain
*Posted February 21, 2014*
The annual Carnival in Port of Spain will take place on March 3 and 4, 2014. Travel and tourism activities are expected to continue for up to two weeks after the celebration and will be busiest during weekends. March 5, 2014 (Ash Wednesday) is expected to be the busiest day of the year at the Port of Spain airport. March 4 to 16, 2014 is also expected to be a congested time for departures.
It is recommended that travellers book ground transportation to the airport ahead of time as taxis will be very busy. Guests departing Port of Spain should arrive at the airport early to check in and clear security to avoid missing flights. The Check-in counter opens three hours prior to flight departure and closes one hour before departure time.
Guidelines for both checked and carry-on baggage will be strictly adhered to. Guests should also be aware that traditional headdresses must meet carry on sizing requirements and they will be considered as one piece of carry-on baggage.
