If you are travelling with us to and from the affected areas when we issue a hurricane travel advisory, you are eligible for flexible exchange and refund rules (while the advisory is in effect). WestJet will issue a hurricane travel advisory based on information provided by the Canadian Hurricane Centre or the National Hurricane Center (U.S.A.).
Bookings made with AIR MILES®

If you have booked an air-only flight reservation using AIR MILES®, you will be required to contact an AIR MILES® representative to request a refund or change your itinerary.
Cancelling reservations

If a hurricane travel advisory is issued for your origin or destination on your travel dates, you may cancel your reservation without penalty and have the funds placed in a WestJet travel bank credit that is valid for one year from the date of cancellation.
Rebooking travel to same destination

If you choose to reschedule to a later flight date(s) that is less than 14 days after the original departure flight, you may do so with no exchange fee or difference in fare (subject to availability).

If you choose to reschedule to a later flight date(s) that is more than 14 days after the departure flight, normal exchange and refund guidelines will apply.

If you choose to reschedule to an earlier flight date(s), you may do so without an exchange fee or difference in fare (subject to availability).
Rebooking travel to an alternate destination

If you choose to travel to a different WestJet destination, you will be responsible for any difference in fare, but will not be charged an exchange fee. If you choose an itinerary of lesser value, any difference in fare will be placed in a WestJet travel bank credit that is valid for one year from the date of the change.
Hurricane while you are at your destination

If a hurricane travel advisory has been issued and you choose to return from your destination early, you may do so for no exchange fee or difference in fare (subject to availability).

You may also cancel your reservation without penalty and have the funds placed in a WestJet travel bank credit that is valid for one year from the date of cancellation.
Continuing with existing travel arrangements

If you decide to continue with your existing travel plans to or from an area that is included in the hurricane travel advisory, and the trip is interrupted or affected as a result of a hurricane, you will not be eligible for compensation, credit files or refunds of any kind.
Hurricane promise
- When WestJet issues a hurricane travel advisory, guests traveling with WestJet Vacations to and from the affected areas (while the advisory is in effect) will be eligible for flexible exchange and refund rules.
- WestJet will issue a hurricane travel advisory based on information provided by the Canadian Hurricane Centre or the National Hurricane Centre (U.S.A.).
Changing reservations during a hurricane
- All changes to WestJet Vacation itineraries must be made by calling the WestJet Vacations Call Centre.
Cancelling reservations due to a hurricane
- If a hurricane travel advisory is issued for your origin or destination and your travel dates, or a hurricane has passed through your destination within two weeks prior to your reserved arrival date, you may cancel your reservation before the first scheduled flight, without penalty, for a refund to the original payment card used as form of payment at the time of purchase.
Rebooking travel to same destination after a hurricane
- If you choose to reschedule your WestJet Vacation itinerary for the exact same package (same flight, hotel and duration), your travel must be completed within one year of the original itinerary. Changing dates may affect applicable promotions offered by suppliers.
- If the new package price is greater than the original package, you will be responsible for the difference in fare; however, all applicable exchange fees will be waived. In the event that the price of the new package is lower than the original package, the difference in fare will be placed in a WestJet credit, applicable toward air reservations only. This credit is valid for one year from the date of issue and is fully transferable.
Rebooking travel to an alternate destination during a hurricane
- If you choose to reschedule your WestJet Vacation by traveling to an alternate destination, your travel must be completed within one year of the original itinerary. Changing destination may affect applicable promotions offered by suppliers.
- If the price of the new package is higher than the original package, you will be responsible for the difference in fare; however, all applicable exchange fees will be waived.
- In the event that the price of the new package price is lower than the original package, the difference in fare will be placed in a WestJet credit, applicable toward air reservations only. This credit is valid for one year from the date of issue and is fully transferable.
Hurricane while you are at your destination
- If a hurricane travel advisory has been issued and you choose to return from your vacation destination early, you may do so for no change fee (subject to availability).
- If you choose to return early or are evacuated early, you will receive a refund for the unused portion of your vacation package (not including air).
Continuing with existing travel arrangements during a hurricane
- If you decide to continue with your existing travel plans to or from an area that is included in the hurricane travel advisory, and the trip is interrupted or impacted as a result of a hurricane, you will not be eligible for compensation, credit or refunds of any kind.
