  • If you choose to reschedule to a later flight date(s) that is less than 14 days after the original departure flight, you may do so without paying an exchange fee or any difference in the price of the fare (subject to availability).
  • If you choose to reschedule to a later flight date(s) that is more than 14 days after the departure flight, normal exchange and refund guidelines will apply.

Hurricane/tropical storm advisory issued prior to the guest's departure

Continue with existing travel arrangements

  • If you decide to continue with your existing travel plans to or from an area that is included in the hurricane/tropical storm advisory, and the trip is interrupted or impacted as a result of a hurricane or tropical storm, you are not eligible for compensation, a refund or service credit.
  • If you decide to continue with your existing travel arrangements and your flight is delayed due to a hurricane or tropical storm, WestJet Vacations will make every reasonable attempt to minimize your inconvenience by informing all suppliers and destination representative(s) of the new arrival date/time on behalf of guests. Suppliers include: hotels, transfers, car rentals, and excursions booked through WestJet Vacations.

Change reservation to a future date

  • You may change your reservation to a future date; however travel must be completed within one year of the original itinerary.
  • Changes to a future date will be accepted once confirmation has been received from WestJet's supplier(s). The new itinerary must include the same flight (with the same flight number, origin and destination), hotel and duration. If it is not possible to book the same in-destination travel duration see the 'Travel duration changes' section below. If the hotel is unable to honour the date slide, you are responsible for any additional costs. Changing dates may alter applicable promotions offered by suppliers.
  • If the price of the new package is greater than the original package, you are responsible for the difference in fare; applicable change fees are waived.
  • If the price of the new package is lower than the original package, the difference in fare is refunded to the original credit card used as payment at the time of purchase.

Rebook travel to an alternate destination

  • If you are able to depart a minimum of three days out from your original departure date, you have the option of travelling to an alternate destination (this option is only available a minimum of three days out due to time constraints and unavailable room allotment).
  • If you choose this option, you must have your travel completed within one year of the original itinerary.
  • Changing destinations may alter applicable promotions offered by suppliers.
  • If the price of the new package is higher than the original package, you are responsible for the difference in fare; applicable change fees are waived.
  • If the price of the new package is lower than the original package, the difference in fare is refunded to the original credit card used as payment at the time of purchase.

Cancel reservation

  • If a hurricane advisory is issued for your origin or destination and within your travel dates, you may cancel your reservation before the first scheduled flight without penalty and the funds will be refunded to the credit card used as payment at the time of purchase.

Hurricane/tropical storm advisory issued while the guest is at their destination

  • If the guest chooses to return from their vacation destination early, applicable change fees are waived.
  • If you choose to return early or are evacuated early, the unused portion of your vacation package is refunded to the credit card used as payment at the time of purchase.
  • The refund amount will be equal to the percentage of the nights missed. If you are unable to return due to your flight being cancelled, WestJet will cover the cost of the additional nights at a hotel of WestJet's choosing.

Travel duration changes

  • If your future travel duration (in destination) has been reduced, you will not be refunded the unused nights. For example, if an original flight scheduled to leave on January 1, returning on January 8 was adjusted to leave on January 3, the return date would still be January 8.
  • If there is an increase to the future travel duration, you will be charged for the additional nights. Additional night(s) will be booked at the same hotel and room category booked.
  • Hotel vouchers are not provided for overnight connections in a Canadian gateway. You are responsible for any hotel costs.
