Guest: A WestJet customer.
WestJetter: A WestJet employee.
Sales Super Agent: The WestJetters who answer the phone when you call.
Customer Service Agent (CSA): The WestJetters who check you in and help you board your flight.
200 Series: The original version of the Boeing 737, which was retired in 2005.
Boeing Next-Generation 737: The new version of the Boeing 737 which we started to integrate into our fleet in 2001. Our Next-Generation aircrafts have leather seats and more legroom. WestJet flies the 600, 700 and 800 series of the aircraft, with live seatback television provided by Bell TV on the 700 series.
Winglet: The additions to the ends of the wings on our aircrafts which enhance fuel efficiency.
Route: A city pairing with WestJet service; for example, Edmonton-Calgary.
Non-stop: A WestJet flight that flies directly from its origin to the destination airport, without stopping.
Through: When a WestJet aircraft lands in a city that is not a guest's final destination. Guests may or may not disembark from the aircraft.
Connection: A WestJet flight that requires a change of plane from one WestJet flight to another as part of a single trip. Each portion of the flight is considered a segment.
Segment: An individual portion of a connection flight which is identified by a change in the flight number. Each flight number represents one flight segment.
No Show Guest: A guest who fails to arrive at the airport of departure in time to take their scheduled flight.
Alternate: The term used to describe the destination the aircraft will land if it cannot reach its destination due to bad weather.
WestJet Travel Bank: An electronic account for any WestJet credit.
Virtually There: The system WestJet uses to send your travel itinerary, and provide you with additional travel tools and information.
Ticket: An electronic document which contains the payment portion of your flight, the price of the flight(s) purchased and any fees, taxes and surcharges applicable to the flight.
Fees, taxes and surcharges: The extra charges that third parties make us charge on top of our low fares.
Self-serve check-in options: Our web, kiosk and mobile check-in options available to guests for self service.
Gate: The area (determined by either a letter, number or both) in which your WestJet aircraft will load and depart.
Buy on Board (BOB): Fresh sandwiches and snacks available for purchase on any WestJet flight over two and a half hours.
OTP (On Time Performance): The industry term for arriving at a destination on time. WestJet has one of the best OTP ratings in North America!
