Travel Bank is an easy-to-use account where you accumulate travel credits from non-refundable ticket changes, cancellations or service credits. These travel credits are kept in your Travel Bank until you use them to pay for future travel.
Travel Bank accounts are created when you change or cancel your flight (with the exception of "Plus" fare types) outside of the 24 hour period of time where we offer a full refund to your original form of payment. Please see our service fees page for specific information about change and cancel fees. As Travel Bank accounts require a WestJet ID, if you do not have an existing WestJet account, one will be created for you.
A Travel Bank requires a WestJet account in order to be linked to you — the Travel Bank owner. If your flight was not booked using a WestJet account, you will need to contact our contact centre to make any changes or cancel your flight. If you cancel your flight, the contact centre agent will then create a WestJet account for you and process your refund to your Travel Bank.
We will send an email to the address you provided when your WestJet account was created. This email will let you know a WestJet account has been created and that Travel Bank may be accessed from this account. The email will include a WestJet ID, which you'll need to access your Travel Bank online. Additionally we’ll send you an email whenever travel credits are used or refunded to your account.
To use your Travel Bank, you must be signed into your WestJet account. When purchasing your flight(s) online, you will be given the option to use your Travel Bank credits or another form of payment. To use your travel credits for reservations made through our contact centre, just provide your WestJet ID or your first and last name when booking. If you don't have your Travel Bank information available at the time of booking, you may request to use your travel credits by calling our contact centre within 24 hours of making the booking. Changes to the form of payment after 24 hours are not permitted.
You can view your Travel Bank through your WestJet account when you sign in.
You'll see any travel credits relating to a changed or cancelled flight, as well as service credits distributed by WestJet.
Service credits and travel credits from flight refunds and/or changes expire 12 months from the date they're issued.
Yes. For a fee, WestJet will allow you a one-time, one-year extension on any unexpired Travel Bank credit of $100 or more. Travel Bank credits issued for a cancelled or delayed flight, baggage or any other type of compensation may not be extended.
You can use your travel credits for payment on the base fare and taxes of any WestJet flight. Currently, travel credits cannot be used through a travel agency, for WestJet Vacations or for service fees (like kennels, seat selection, excess baggage or change fees).

Yes. WestJet guests with a Travel Bank credit may apply it to another guest's booking by signing in to their WestJet account before making a booking. Once signed in, select the desired flight and continue to the payment step. If there is a Travel Bank credit available, an option will be visible to apply the credit. There will also be a drop-down menu with the option to "Enter guest not on my profile".
Credits in your Travel Bank are based on the country you have listed in your WestJet account.
Your Travel Bank can only be accessed by using your WestJet ID. Make sure you keep it confidential. Any fraudulent use of your Travel Bank will be investigated; however, WestJet is not liable for any unauthorized use of your WestJet ID, password, Travel Bank credits or your payment card information.
WestJet Travel Bank credits posted for sale on any online classified website may not be valid or may become invalid at a later date. WestJet is only able to verify if a Travel Bank credit is currently available. Flight bookings and Travel Bank credit purchased with a stolen card or in some other unauthorized fashion will be revoked or cancelled immediately without notice or reimbursement.
WestJet is not involved in any private transaction resulting from an advertisement on an online classified web site. WestJet does not handle the payment, guarantee transactions, offer buyer protection or seller certification for these advertisements. WestJet will not be liable for the loss of funds resulting from a fraudulent transaction.
Currently, travel credits cannot be used for WestJet Vacations packages.
