  1. Enrolling in WestJet Rewards

    How do I enrol?

You can enrol in WestJet Rewards here. If you have an existing WestJet ID (assigned when you created a profile, signed up for JetMail or have a flight credit with us), you'll need to sign in and complete a couple more steps. If you don't have a WestJet ID, select the "Need a WestJet ID?" option to create your WestJet ID and enrol in the program all at the same time. Please note that you will be automatically enrolled in WestJet Rewards if you apply, and are approved for, a WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard.

Is there a fee to enrol?

No. Joining our program is absolutely free.

Why is an email address required to enrol?

All communication about the program and your account will be sent to you via email only. To update your email address and communication preferences, please visit mywestjet.com, sign in to your account and use the Personal info tab, to update your information.

Can I enrol on behalf of my children?

Yes. You may enrol on behalf of your children, as long as a valid email address belonging to a parent of the child is provided at the time of enrolment.

I have just enrolled in WestJet Rewards and have upcoming flights booked. Can I add my WestJet ID for these flights?

Yes. To do this, you may call us at 1-888-937-8538 (1-888-WESTJET). Alternatively you can add your WestJet ID to your flight during the online/kiosk check-in process.

Can I receive credit for flights I've taken before enrolling in WestJet Rewards?

No. You must be enrolled in WestJet Rewards at the time of the departure.

If I already have a WestJet ID (profile) am I automatically enrolled in WestJet Rewards?

No. You must enrol in WestJet Rewards. Once you enrol, there are no additional numbers to remember since you will use the same 9-digit WestJet ID that has already been created for you.

  2. Earning WestJet dollars

How do I earn WestJet dollars when I fly with WestJet?

To earn WestJet dollars, you will need to join the program and provide your WestJet ID when you book WestJet flights and WestJet Vacations packages. Upon joining you will be automatically eligible to earn 1 per cent back in WestJet dollars on the purchase of WestJet flights and 0.5 per cent back on WestJet Vacations packages. Once you reach $1,500 in qualifying spend during your qualifying year, your earning rate will increase to 2.5 per cent on WestJet flights and 1 per cent on WestJet Vacations packages.

When will my WestJet dollars appear in my account?

WestJet dollars will appear in your account within 30 days of completion of travel.

What does annual qualifying spend mean?

Annual qualifying spend is the eligible spend on WestJet-marketed flights during a 12 month period, known as your qualifying year. WestJet Vacations spend, partner-marketed flights, partner bookings made on westjet.com, taxes, fees, charges and insurance are excluded from annual qualifying spend.

    What is my qualifying year?

Your qualifying year is a 12-month period based on the date of enrolment. Your first qualifying year begins on the date that you enrol and ends on the last day of the month, one year from the date that you enrolled. For example, if you enrol on March 15, 2012, your first qualifying year will be March 15, 2012 to March 31, 2013. Each subsequent qualifying year will then be a 12-month period, i.e., April 1 to March 31.

Is the tracking of my annual qualifying spend based on the date of purchase or the date of the flight?

Annual qualifying spend is based on the dates your flights are flown. For example, if your qualifying year is the 12-month period of April 1 to March 31, your qualifying spend will be tracked based on flights flown during that period.

How many WestJet dollars am I eligible to earn?

Upon enrolling you are automatically eligible to earn 1 per cent back in WestJet dollars on your eligible spend on WestJet-marketed flights, starting with the first flight flown in your qualifying year, and 0.5 per cent back on WestJet Vacations packages. Once you reach qualifying spend of $1,500 on flights flown with WestJet you'll receive a bonus of $35 WestJet dollars and your earning rates will increase to 2.5 per cent on WestJet flights and 1 per cent on WestJet Vacations packages. You will continue to earn 2.5 per cent for all additional spend on WestJet flights throughout your qualifying year, plus a bonus of $25 WestJet dollars at each additional $1,500 increment in qualifying spend (see cumulative bonus chart), as well as 1 per cent on WestJet Vacations spend. As your qualifying spend increases during the year, you will automatically earn Jet-Aways, which include companion flights, advance seat selection and airport lounge passes.

How do I make a booking using my WestJet ID?

When booking a flight on westjet.com select 'Sign up/Sign in' located at the top of the page and sign into your WestJet account using your 9-digit WestJet ID or email address and password, then select 'Book a flight'. With this one quick extra step our system will auto-populate your guest details into the booking. On the Guest information screen, you'll be able to select your loyalty program and input your member number (WestJet ID) to earn WestJet dollars. When booking a WestJet Vacations package, enter your 9-digit WestJet ID in the Frequent Flyer Number field on the Payment screen.

How much is a WestJet dollar worth?

One WestJet dollar is equivalent to one Canadian dollar. You can use WestJet dollars towards the payment of WestJet flights marketed and operated by WestJet (including WestJet Encore) or WestJet Vacations packages (excluding taxes, fees and charges) just as you would with Canadian dollars. A minimum of $25 WestJet dollars is required to redeem; this requirement is waived if you are a WestJet RBC MasterCard holder.

What qualifies as a WestJet marketed flight?

A WestJet-marketed flight is any flight that has a WS carrier code preceding the flight number (eg. WS 656, WS 3109, WS 5010). The flight may be operated by WestJet, WestJet Encore or a partner airline. Regardless of which carrier operates it, if the flight number starts with WS you are eligible to earn WestJet dollars on that flight.

    Do WestJet dollars expire?

WestJet dollars that are earned but not used during your qualifying year will be banked into your WestJet dollars account for future use. These dollars expire after a period of five (5) years. The expiry date is set to coincide with the end date of your qualifying year. For example, if you earned WestJet dollars in your qualifying year of April 1, 2011 – March 31, 2012, those WestJet dollars will expire on March 31, 2017. You can choose to extend the expiration date of your WestJet dollars for one year for a fee of $20-$23. WestJet dollars awarded in connection with a contest or promotion may have expiry dates that vary from the above. Any such information will be specified as part of the contest or promotion rules.

Will I be eligible to receive bonuses?

Yes. Once you reach $1,500 in annual qualifying spend, you become eligible to receive WestJet dollar bonuses, along with other flight and non-flight bonuses, at incremental $1,500 spend levels. Your first bonus is $35 WestJet dollars. After that, you'll receive $25 WestJet dollars at each additional $1,500 milestone. There's no limit to the number of bonuses you can earn in your qualifying year. Whether you spend $7,500 or $25,000 (or more!) you'll earn a bonus at each $1,500 milestone along the way. The chart below provides information on the bonuses and cumulative WestJet dollars earned at each milestone.

Will I receive any bonuses based on the number of flights that I take?

WestJet may offer bonuses from time to time. Watch your email for upcoming bonus offers.

Can I earn WestJet dollars on flights and vacation packages booked online at westjet.com as well as through WestJet's call centre?

Yes. WestJet makes it easy for you to earn WestJet dollars on your flights and vacation packages, regardless of how you book. You can earn WestJet dollars on new reservations made on our website at westjet.com or given by calling us at 1-888-937-8538 (1-888-WESTJET). You can also earn WestJet dollars on reservations made by a travel agent. Some fare restrictions apply; please see published fares mentioned below.

What is a published fare, and can I earn WestJet dollars on all fares?

A published fare is one that is publicly available at westjet.com or given by calling us. The vast majority of fares are eligible. Certain fares, such as unpublished contracted fares made available to online travel agencies, for example, may not be eligible for earning.

Do I need to purchase my flights and vacations directly from WestJet in order to earn WestJet dollars?

No. You are eligible to earn WestJet dollars as long as your 9-digit WestJet ID (also known as your Frequent Flyer Number) has been added to your booking prior to departure. This includes bookings made through a travel agent or through a Global Distribution System (GDS). As long as you are purchasing a published fare that is also available through WestJet's channels, you will earn WestJet dollars. You will not earn WestJet dollars on unpublished fares (ie. contracted fares not publicly available at westjet.com).

I had a WestJet ID (profile only) before joining WestJet Rewards and have a previously booked flight coming up. Do I need to do anything to ensure that I earn on this booking?

Yes. You will need to call us at 1-888-937-8538 (1-888-WESTJET) and have your WestJet ID added to the Frequent Flyer Number field on the booking. Alternatively, you can add the number yourself during the online/kiosk check-in process. All previous bookings made with your WestJet ID (profile only) will not automatically be associated with your new account.

How do I earn on WestJet Vacations packages?

It's simple. Just add your 9-digit WestJet ID to the member number field when booking a WestJet Vacations package on westjet.com, or provide it to a vacations specialist or travel agent to add to your booking. WestJet Vacations spend will be awarded to your account at the rate of 0.5 per cent of the base package purchase price (or 1 per cent if you've reached $1,500 in annual qualifying spend on WestJet flights in your current qualifying year). Taxes, fees and charges are not eligible for accrual.

Who is eligible to earn WestJet dollars on WestJet Vacations packages?

One individual or the primary traveller on a WestJet Vacations booking may collect the WestJet dollars associated to the booking. The eligible spend cannot be divided between multiple WestJet Rewards members.

I am currently earning WestJet dollars at the rate of 2.5 per cent. I recently bought a WestJet flight for $250 and thought I would earn $6.25 in WestJet dollars but only received $6. What happened to the 25 cents?

WestJet dollars are calculated on the published fare paid and the resulting amount is rounded to the nearest dollar, whichever is closer.

Can I earn WestJet dollars on flights that I have booked for others?

No. WestJet Rewards is an individual traveller program. Eligible spend will only be applied to the account belonging to the person whose name and WestJet ID matches those appearing on the booking. You may enter the traveller's WestJet ID when making a booking on behalf of another person; however, you cannot enter your own WestJet ID. This also applies for bookings made for children. To earn WestJet dollars, each individual traveller must join WestJet Rewards and have their own WestJet ID.

Are there any other ways that I can earn WestJet dollars?

Yes! WestJet dollars can also be earned through the WestJet RBC® MasterCard‡. This is a great way for anyone to earn WestJet dollars, regardless of how often they fly with WestJet. If you are a WestJet Rewards member, you can accelerate your earning through everyday spending on the WestJet RBC MasterCard. For more information visit westjet.com/creditcard. Additionally, you can also earn WestJet dollars on car rentals and hotel stays booked at westjet.com and through our partner airlines. For more information visit our partners.

I am a WestJet Rewards member and forgot to enter my WestJet ID. Can I still get WestJet dollar credit after the flight has been flown?

Yes. You are eligible to receive credit as long as you were a member at the time the flight was flown and you submit the request within 12 months of your flight date. All requests for credit must be submitted using the online form, located in the Requests section when you sign in at mywestjet.com. When submitting the form please be sure to complete all fields, including the airline ticket number. Please allow up to 30 days for processing. It is highly recommended that you retain your boarding passes, as they are the best source for the information you'll need to submit a retro credit request.

Can I earn WestJet dollars with other airlines?

Yes. As WestJet continues to expand its interline and code-share partnerships, reciprocal frequent flyer agreements with select airlines will be introduced. These partnerships give WestJet Rewards members greater opportunity to earn WestJet dollars, particularly on routes that WestJet does not operate. To view our current airline partners, along with details on how to earn WestJet dollars, please see Our partners.

If I purchase flights marketed by a partner airline, will they count towards my annual qualifying spend?

No. Only flights marketed by WestJet are eligible. Partner-marketed flights may not count towards your annual qualifying spend or the threshold bonuses that go along with it, however, they provide you with a great way to add more WestJet dollars to your account, particularly when your travel plans take you outside WestJet's network. WestJet dollars awarded on partner-marketed flights are based on distance flown, instead of amount spent, plus class of services bonuses, when applicable. To learn more about earning WestJet dollars with our airline partners, please see Our partners.

Are there any other ways to increase my WestJet dollars?

Yes. If you are a member of the RBC Rewards program or are an eligible RBC banking account holder who earns RBC Rewards points you can convert your points to WestJet dollars. Visit rbcrewards.com to learn more.

  3. Earning WestJet dollars with a WestJet RBC MasterCard

How can I earn WestJet dollars through use of a credit card?

WestJet offers two credit card options for earning WestJet dollars: the WestJet RBC® MasterCard‡ and the WestJet RBC® World Elite MasterCard‡. Both card options give cardholders the opportunity to earn WestJet dollars on everyday purchases and use them towards the future purchase of a WestJet flight or WestJet Vacations package. WestJet dollars earned on credit card spend are in addition to any WestJet dollars earned through flying with WestJet.

What is the difference between the WestJet RBC MasterCard and the WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard?

You earn WestJet dollars with both cards. The difference is that with the WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard you earn WestJet dollars faster - 1.5 per cent back in WestJet dollars on everyday purchases and 2 per cent back in WestJet dollars on WestJet flights or WestJet Vacations packages when you pay with your credit card. Plus, you receive a higher welcome bonus, enhanced travel insurance coverage including Out of Province/Country Emergency Medical and automatic access to MasterCard Experiences and Offers.
With the WestJet RBC MasterCard, you earn 1 per cent back in WestJet dollars on everyday purchases and 1.5 per cent back in WestJet dollars on WestJet flights or WestJet Vacations packages when you pay with your credit card. Plus, you receive a welcome bonus and Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance.

    How do I apply?

    To apply, click here.

When and how will I know if I am approved?

RBC Royal Bank will contact you to confirm the status of your application.

What is the annual fee and interest rate?

Please visit rbc.com/westjetcard for complete details.

Can residents of countries other than Canada apply for the WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard?

No. The credit cards are available to Canadian residents only.

Will I earn WestJet dollars on all of my purchases?

Yes. Every purchase made with your WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard will earn WestJet dollars. They are not earned on cash advances (including credit card cheques and balance transfers), interest charges or fees. Credits for returns and adjustments will reduce or cancel the dollars earned by the amounts originally charged.

    When will I start earning?

You will be eligible to start earning as soon as you receive and activate your credit card. Every purchase you make using your WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard will earn WestJet dollars.

Can I confirm the WestJet dollars balance on my credit card statement?

No. Your credit card statement will only provide the number of WestJet dollars earned through use of your WestJet RBC MasterCard during the current statement period.  To obtain your current balance and more info on WestJet dollars earned and redeemed, please sign in to your account at mywestjet.com.

Will I earn WestJet dollars on my full WestJet or WestJet Vacations purchase when I pay with my WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard?

Yes. You will earn on the full amount paid (including taxes) when you pay for your WestJet or WestJet Vacations purchase with either of the WestJet RBC MasterCard cards. Plus, as a WestJet Rewards member you can add your WestJet ID to the booking and double dip to earn even more.

Can I earn the extra 0.5 per cent back in WestJet dollars when I book WestJet flights or vacation packages through a travel agent?

Yes. Please ensure that you provide your travel agent with your WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard number to process payment for your WestJet flight or WestJet Vacations package. Payment must be made directly to WestJet, with WestJet appearing as the merchant on your credit card statement, in order for you to receive WestJet dollars on the transaction.

    Do WestJet dollars expire?

Yes. WestJet dollars expire after a period of five (5) years. All WestJet dollars earned, but not used in the year that you earned them will be banked in your WestJet dollars account for future use. You can choose to extend the expiration date of your WestJet dollars for one year for a fee of $20-23. WestJet dollars awarded in connection with a contest or promotion may have expiry dates that vary from the above. Any such information will be specified as part of the contest or promotion rules.

Why do I require a WestJet ID number?

A WestJet ID number is required to create a WestJet Rewards account. If you do not already have a WestJet ID number, one will be created for you upon approval of your credit card application and you will also be automatically enrolled in WestJet Rewards, giving you the option to also earn WestJet dollars when you fly with WestJet. You can use your WestJet ID number to sign in to your WestJet Rewards account to keep track of your accumulated WestJet dollars. You will also need to use it on our website or provide it when you call us to redeem your WestJet dollars. To earn WestJet dollars when you fly with WestJet, be sure to select WestJet as your loyalty program and input your WestJet ID in the member number field when booking flights on westjet.com or provide it to us when you call, or ask your travel agent to include your WestJet ID number on your reservation.

How can I access my WestJet dollars balance and other account information?

Once you've been approved for your WestJet RBC MasterCard or WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard, WestJet will email you a WestJet ID and temporary password (if you do not already have a WestJet ID), along with instructions on how to sign in and change your password. Simply go to mywestjet.com and enter your WestJet ID and password to access your account and view your WestJet dollars balance.

  4. Redeeming WestJet dollars

What can I use my WestJet dollars towards?

WestJet dollars can be used like cash to pay for all or part of a published fare of a regularly scheduled flight marketed and operated by WestJet (including WestJet Encore) or a WestJet Vacations package. WestJet dollars cannot be applied against taxes, fees or charges and can only be used for new bookings. A minimum redemption amount of $25 WestJet dollars applies; this requirement is waived if you are WestJet RBC MasterCard cardholder.

What is a WestJet-marketed and operated flight?

A WestJet-marketed and operated flight is one that has a WS carrier code preceding the flight number and the aircraft you travel on is a WestJet aircraft.

Can I redeem my WestJet dollars for flights during peak times and holidays on WestJet or WestJet Vacations?

Yes. You can redeem part or all of your WestJet dollars toward any scheduled flight marketed and operated by WestJet (including WestJet Encore) or any WestJet Vacations package, on any date, with no blackouts or travel restrictions.

Do I need to save up my WestJet dollars to pay for an entire flight?

No. You only need as little as $25 WestJet dollars to redeem (unless you are a WestJet RBC MasterCard holder, in which case this will be waived). Whether you want to save them up, or use them as you go, the choice is up to you. Keep in mind that WestJet dollars expire after five (5) years so be sure to use them before they expire. WestJet dollars awarded in connection with a contest or promotion may have expiry dates that vary from the above. Any such information will be specified as part of the contest or promotion rules.

Can I use my WestJet dollars towards taxes, fees and charges?

No. WestJet dollars can only be used towards the base fare or base package price, before taxes, at the initial time of booking of your WestJet flight (including WestJet Encore) or WestJet Vacations package. Taxes, fees and charges must be paid for with a credit card at the time of booking.

Can I use WestJet dollars to book flights on other airlines or with hotel or car rental company partners?

Not at this time. As we expand our partnerships we are looking at ways to offer these options. At this time WestJet dollars can only be used towards the purchase of flights marketed and operated by WestJet or WestJet Vacations packages.

Can I use my WestJet dollars to book a flight or vacation package for someone else?

Yes. To ensure security of your WestJet dollars account, a booking made using your WestJet dollars must be made by you.

Can I transfer my WestJet dollars to another person who holds a WestJet Rewards account?

Yes. You are allowed to transfer WestJet dollars of any amount to another account holder for a fee of $20-$23 per transfer. The fee must be paid with a credit card at the time of transfer. To request a transfer of WestJet dollars, please contact us by email and an agent will contact you to confirm the details and obtain your payment information (for security reasons, please do not send credit card information by email). Please allow up to four to six weeks for your transfer to be processed.

How do I make a booking using my WestJet dollars?

To book a WestJet or WestJet Encore flight and redeem your WestJet dollars, you can either book online at westjet.com or call us at 1-888-937-8538 (1-888-WESTJET). To book a WestJet Vacations package and redeem your WestJet dollars, call WestJet Vacations at 1-877-737-7001.

When I make a change to a reservation, and WestJet dollars were used toward the original payment, can I use WestJet dollars to pay for the upgrade in fare, if there is an increase?

No. WestJet dollars may be used on a new reservation only. All changes after the original booking date that result in an amount owing, including fare or fees, must be paid for with another form of payment.

Can I use my WestJet dollars and my Travel Bank to pay for a flight?

Yes, this is possible but you must call us to redeem. Once your WestJet dollars have been used, your Travel Bank must cover the remaining amount of the total amount due. Some special circumstances may apply. Please contact us at 1-888-937-8538 (1-888-WESTJET) for further assistance.

Can I redeem online at westjet.com or westjetvacations.com?

You can redeem for WestJet and WestJet Encore flights online at westjet.com; however, you cannot redeem for WestJet Vacations packages online. For vacation packages please call 1-877-737-7001.

Can I use my WestJet dollars for international or transborder flights?

Yes. You can redeem your WestJet dollars for any flight marketed and operated by WestJet (including WestJet Encore).

Can I redeem my WestJet dollars through my travel agent?

No. WestJet dollar redemptions can only be processed directly by WestJet or WestJet Vacations.

Can I redeem my WestJet dollars on a group booking?

WestJet dollars are redeemable towards published fares for WestJet or WestJet Encore individual or group bookings and individual WestJet Vacation packages; however, WestJet dollars cannot be applied towards WestJet Vacations group bookings.

What if I need to change or cancel my flight?

Please contact us at 1-888-937-8538 to change or cancel your reservation. Change or cancellation fees may apply. If you cancel your flight any WestJet dollars redeemed towards that reservation will be returned to your account. The original expiration date associated with those WestJet dollars will continue to apply.

  5. Information about my account

Where can I access my WestJet dollars balance and transactions?

You can easily access this information by visiting mywestjet.com and signing into your account using your WestJet ID and password. If you have subscribed to Account Updates & Program Information, you will also receive a monthly update by email.

Why can't I sign into my account using my email address?

This option is only available if your email address is linked to a single account. If your email address has been used for more than one account (eg. family members sharing a single email address or you have more than one WestJet ID), you'll need to sign in using your 9-digit WestJet ID. How can I update my email address or other contact information with WestJet?

Having your correct email address is extremely important, as it is our primary means of communicating with you about your account. To update your email address and other contact information, or your communication preferences, please visit mywestjet.com, sign into your account and use the Personal info tab, to update your information.

I currently do not receive account statements and special offers but would like to. How do I request them?

To update your communications preferences, please visit mywestjet.com, sign into your account using your 9-digit WestJet ID and password, and use the Personal info tab. Please also confirm that the email address listed is correct as all communications will be sent via email.

  6. Jet-Away and $99 companion flight redemption

    What is a Jet-Away?

Jet-Aways are special WestJet Rewards bonuses you will receive when you reach the $4,500 and $6,000 qualifying spend levels during your annual qualifying year. At $4,500 qualifying spend, you will receive a companion flight valid for round-trip travel for you and the companion of your choice anywhere WestJet flies within Canada, plus advance seat selection vouchers and lounge passes.
