When WestJet flies to this destination:
“Bonbini!” might be the greeting you hear when you step off the plane in friendly Aruba. That means “welcome” in Papiamento, Aruba's native language, and the people here are definitely ready to welcome you to their Caribbean paradise.
Aruba offers so much you could stay for weeks and never get bored. Are you a beach person? You have a world of choices on this “one happy island.” Visit the west coast for turquoise waters, brilliant sand beaches and a resort atmosphere complete with swimming, snorkeling, kite surfing, waterskiing and more. If you're looking for something more rugged, the east coast offers more secluded and undeveloped areas where you'll find limestone coves and craggy terrain that has been battered by the sea.
For those wanting to get some activity in, the list of things to do is long and varied. Going horseback riding, hiking or biking will get you moving while scanning the scenery. Get up close and personal with the clear blue sea while kayaking, diving or sailing. If you prefer to have someone else show you around, choose a jeep safari or a fishing excursion. And of course no island paradise is complete without a place for a round of golf.
When you've had enough sun and surf, pull out your wallet and go shopping. But don't worry about that credit card – in Aruba you'll find lower prices on many of the brands you love. Choose from jewelry stores, boutiques, upscale malls or store-lined streets to find that perfect addition to your wardrobe or a souvenir for someone back home.
Aruba is not short on culture either. Visit museums, art galleries and theatres for a look at the area’s history and talent or spark your senses at a carnival theme night or musical event. The folk dancers in brilliantly-coloured traditional costumes and musicians playing local instruments like the cuarta, caja di orgel and steel pan will quickly fill up your mental memory card.
This family-friendly island has great options for kids too. Head to one of the weekly outdoor markets to find local handicrafts or get ready for the next Show and Tell with a visit to the butterfly, ostrich and donkey farms.
Aruba has the highest visitor return rate in the Caribbean, and for good reason. The incredible weather, friendly people and choice of activities on the stunning beaches and beyond will have you planning your next trip before you leave the area.
