The Hawaii (DLNR) is conducting a project to restore sand to approximately 1,730 feet of shoreline from the west end of the Kuhio Beach crib walls, near the Duke Kahanamoku statue, to the existing Royal Hawaiian groin. Beach maintenance activities are scheduled from March 12th through April 2012 and will require the temporary closure of sections of Waikiki Beach from 7 am to 12-noon, seven days a week. These partial beach closures are necessary to ensure public safety during periods of active beach maintenance work. Signs will be posted along the work area to advise residents and visitors of the project and direct them to the nearest ocean access point.
