My wife and I spent 4 nights at one of the less expensive rooms in the Mediterranean Village property. The room was large and comfortable with a decent view although we felt they could have done a better job with the daily making/cleaning of the room. The location of the resort is great with direct access to the (non) private beach which was beautiful (clean with clear blue waters and white sands) which was the main attraction and motivation for the trip and we were not disappointed. Although not a private beach, Sandals is the only property with access so I would call it semi private. The only negative are the annoying local vendors trying to sell all sorts of miscellaneous stuff. Service/Staff- We found the service to be very friendly and helpful. Liquor- The liquor was top shelf and was liberally poured (they offer Johnnie Walker Black Label so I very satisfied)! The Food - The food was a bit disappointing and below our expectation. The breakfasts were good (buffet at Bayside and a la carte at Eleanor’s). There wasn’t much variety for lunch. There is a mediocre buffet at Bayside, burgers and wraps at the Grab & Go and some decent fare at Barefoot but it was all average at best. The dinners were decent. Kimonos was great and entertaining, good seafood at Barefoot, Marios had impressive Italian and everything we ate at The Drunken Duck was very good. However, Eleanor’s, the resorts most popular/flagship restaurant was very disappointing. Their signature Lobster tail (actually its 1/2 a tail) and 3 grilled shrimp did not taste fresh and the portions were small. You could probably find better lobster wherever you are coming from. Overall a nice and relaxing getaway!

This was our first trip to a Sandals. We have gone to St. Thomas, Barbados, Bahamas etc to all included but Sandals is the way to go. Here they have 11 places to eat so you will find something you like. Staff was great!!! We needed something fixed they were there before we called. I have reaction to salt. The entire hotel knew about it, even the beach barbeque was told to hold some ribs before I even came so I could enjoy. Our vacation here was so nice and relaxing. Expensive as the other guest complain? Yes but there are ways around that. Bring your own camera and the staff more then happy to get your shot. Also the guy on beach giving tours is safe and 1/2 day stingray swim is plenty for me and 1/2 the price. The shopping tour well worth it, for jewelry and rum, and the prices if your haggle are really good. Water is calm and not full of rocks. Not much to snorkel at hotel but relax and enjoy. Take advantage of water sports at hotel. We stayed 7 nights I could have stayed a month. If your looking for clean, not over crowded good food, try this spot. Also be aware they just bought in Barbados (St.Peters location) Almond beach This was an amazing beach, ready 2015,I think don't miss this place for snorkeling better then any Island I have been at even St Johns. Almond Beach Food was terrible, food at Sandals is all Great!!! We would go back!!!

Just returned from an amazing 10 days in Antigua at Sandals. The staff are terrific, really friendly and helpful in a very genuine way. The food is of a really good quality and there is lots of choice. It is all inclusive without any restriction on drinks or food as I have found with other resorts. The watersports are great fun too. I would love to return one day.

more pros than cons, this was our free week and we save antigua for it.pros were the hotel was really nice, was surprized to see the med side to be more fun,we have visited 9 sandals and for many reasons i would recomend this one even know its far from our favorite.of all the sandals the folks who work here were the nicest and most friendly, evreyone even the gardners sad good morning, and wished us a great day.we had a portifino walk out suite, awesome room.to mention some very special people george and mark fron soy wow.george went out of his way every day for us and honestly he would be the only reason i would return to this resort.thanks george and mark for memorys we will never for get.all in all a great resort with some small faults. cons... the food except at marios and soy was under par for a sandals,as a 10 time visiter i have never once not been totally over welmed with the food except this trip.the olny time filet of beef was offered was the repeaters dinner and sorry but it sucked, tasted like bad pot roast, the dinner as a hole was really bad and heard that from many others.we really look forward to the repeaters dinner as it is the best of the week.the ocean was cloudy, not there fault wrong time of year coming into rainy season.and only one person noticed out silver and gold sandal necklesses we wear them proudly and we dont ask anything extra except to be noticed as return guest.also we had to ask for our leather sandals, didnt think that was right as we are always given them.overall great place just not our fav,we will be going back to jamacia in may 2014 for trip #11 at a sandals.
Nothing But Regrets. Do Not Stay Here!

I am sitting in my warm Sandals Grande Antigua hotel room right now writing this. It is warm because the A/C doesn't blow cold air. It uses something called a chilled-water system that apparently needs a lot of improvement. I don't have a thermometer, but I am guessing its around 80 in this room at 11PM at night! This is the second room they have placed us in in two days. I guess I should be grateful that the A/C is the only issue with this one. The first room had the same A/C issue, as well as: a refrigerator that didn't actually refrigerate, a broken patio door that could easily be pulled open from the outside when locked, a trail of at least 100 ants crawling up the exterior of our patio, and about 30 of some kind of gnat-like insects that were IN the room attacking a cookie plate that was brought by shortly after arrival. The staff seems disinterested in helping. The staffer who brought the can of Raid and sprayed the ants rolled her eyes at us and told us to "expect ants. We are in the Caribbean." Yeah, there are ants where I am from too, lady. But a whole trail of them isn't climbing up the walls of my house. We have been to the front desk half a dozen times. The first time, they told us we couldn't move to another room. The second time, I had the concierge come to the room to show him how awful it was. They did move us and now the only real issue is the A/C doesn't work. Maintenance came by and essentially told us that there really isn't anything they can do. It is essentially an issue with the complete A/C system in this section of the property. The beach is nice but there are assorted vendors who pitch you their junk at least 3-5 times an hour until they finally realize you don't want it. I saw one guy actually yelled at a woman who told him no. NICE! The food is decent, but not stellar. I had a hamburger at a grab and go stand that I really enjoyed. They only offer local beer. One is a Heineken knock-off, the other tastes like watered down Miller High Life. At least 25% of the employees don't like you and don't mind acting like it. It took 2 hours for the bellhops to bring the luggage to our room upon arrival after insisting that we not just carry it ourselves to the room. One of the staffers lied to me about a small detail regarding my dinner. The Wi-Fi connects at about 180kbps (about three times faster than dial-up; about 100 times slower than my Wi-Fi at home). If you are thinking of booking here, DON'T. You will regret it. If you stay here, you will get the sense that NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE PROBLEMS YOU HAVE WITH YOUR ROOM!!! We have stayed with Palace Resorts and Riu on other vacations. I don't recall having an issue at either of those resorts. We thought Sandals would be a step up, but it's a huge step down.
