Submit a request for reimbursement – delayed or damaged baggage
If your baggage was delayed or damaged by WestJet, you may also request reimbursement for related reasonable, out-of-pocket expenses.
Damage must be reported within 7 days, and delays must be reported within 21 days.

Submit your request with itemized receipts, and we’ll review it based on our guidelines.
If approved, you can choose to receive your reimbursement by electronic payment or as a Travel Bank credit in your WestJet Rewards account.
Baggage fee refunds
Fees related to mishandled bags may be eligible for a refund.
Recommended Amounts
Interim expenses:
- Up to $100 CAD/USD for the first 48 hours your bag is delayed
- Up to an additional $150 after 48 hours, for a total of $250
This does not limit or reduce the guests' right to claim damages.
We don’t reimburse for:
- Perishable items
- Dangerous goods
- Cellular roaming charges
- Missed events or excursions
- Lost wages
- Missed connections to non-partner airlines or cruises
