We booked a 10-night stay through British Airways Holidays as our regular hotel was unavailable and Butterfly Beach was recommended the hotel by a friend, who is a regular visitor to the hotel. Our hotel overlooked the thin pool and we changed rooms immediately, as our allocated room (409) was right next to the road. There was no quibble in changing rooms and we moved a few doors down (405) , on the same floor. Some of the staff are helpful and the Monday night drinks reception was enjoyable. You are given complimentary beach towels once during your stay, with fresh towels being B$2 each. So not even fresh towels daily, which is different to other hotels we’ve stayed at in the past. The water from the taps and shower is tepid and some days we’ve had very cool and even cold water. Which isn’t acceptable. The hotel also caters for sports groups, which is okay, but have taken over the swimming pool on occasions. The breakfast arrangements for the groups weren’t great and one group took all the fruit and water every morning at breakfast and nothing was replenished for the guests. We’ve had complimentary continental breakfast, which isn’t continental, apart from sliced cheese (no meats) and is hit and miss at the weekends, when the selection is poor (tinned fruit salad instead of a fresh fruit selection). Some of the breakfast staff have been quite rude (one even removed my partners bread from the toaster for no reason) and have reluctantly served coffee. We’ve not had a problem with sunbeds although some are nabbed quite early on and not used. Our bed was 2 beds pushed together, and the headboards not attached to the bed, or the wall. There is only one bedside table, which is strange, so I used a chair as my table! The kitchenette area is adequate. No draining board for drying up and having to boil the kettle for hot water to wash up! The electric ring hob has seen better days and we didn’t use it. The location on the beach is great if you like climbing over rocks to get to the sand which can be slippery when the waves crash against the rocks. We love Barbados and we look forward to returning, although we will book into our usual hotel further up the beach.

Our Say to the Butterfly Nov 19. The hotel was clean, andthe on site restaurant was great, serving Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. The room had a safe, (which was free) we were on the second floor, overlooking the long thin pool (Adults only). My wife a i went to the Friday night fish fry at Oistins, we ate at Pats place, which was as good as i had heard. But walking back to the Hotel, about half way my wife had her handbag snatched, of her chest, inside was her iphone, and glasses. Two local watchman, ran after the robber down the side of a doctors, but were unable to catch him. They then got on the radio to the local police, they arrived very quickly, they then asked us to get into the police car. We then went searching around the local area, but no sign of the robber. The police then took us to the local police station, at oistins. We had to make statement, then took back to the Hotel, by the officer. We informed the hotel when we arrived back, and the next day the manager Ann Marie rang, and asked to see us. She said how sorry she was (which wasnt her fault). A big shout out to the Oistin police dept, Ann Marie, and the Virgin Holidays Rep Dionne. Ps, Do Teds tours (Book in Gift shop) and Harbour lights.

We stayed here for a week and loved everything about the place. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Oistins. We had a side pool-facing room with a large balcony and we could also see the sea, which was a bonus. The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean, with a handy equipped kitchenette consisting of a large fridge, hob and microwave. The bathroom, although simple, was also clean and functional. The bed was extremely comfortable and the air-conditioning and ceiling fan worked well, which is important. We had continental breakfast included and had this most mornings unless we were leaving early. This was straightforward but plentiful and of good quality, with choices such as fresh fruit, breads, pastries, fruit salad, juices and coffee etc. It was particularly nice to have breakfast on the verandah with wonderful views out to sea. We did not have any other meals at the hotel as we preferred to head somewhere else in the evenings, with St. Lawrence Gap, Hastings and Oistins within easy reach for a great choice of eateries. The facilities around the hotel are extremely good for a hotel of this grade. We particularly liked the main pool, whirlpools and the sun decks, which have plenty of loungers. The direct beach access is also an excellent feature - we swam along the coast as far as Sandals. We had hired a car for the week, as we wanted to travel all around the island, with Butterfly Beach well-situated to do so. Parking was plentiful until our last morning when there was only one space when we returned after an early morning dive. Small things like the welcome punch and the manager's cocktail set the hotel apart from other similarly graded hotels we have stayed at before. We would not have wanted to spend all day at the hotel as that is not the kind of holiday we tend to go for, but Butterfly Beach delivered everything we could have wanted in a comfortable place to stay with great facilities for us to enjoy when we were back at the hotel after spending most of our time diving and exploring the beauty of Barbados. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We booked as a package with flights through British Airways Holidays, making for a great value trip, and we would absolutely return.

This is a nice hotel with nice staff, it is a beach front hotel. Rooms are clean and staff are helpful. Harriett is a lovely lady with excellent customer service, very attentive with a lovely big warm smile. Nothing was too much for the staff. The hotel dies get busy and your hard pushed to get an umberella for some shade in the blistering heat, and the same ppl claim the sane seats and loungers everyday as if they own them. They leave their towels all day an go away and it makes it difficukt to find a seat which is off putting and selfish. The bar can get very rowdy as ppl are drinking beers & rum from 9am all day. The buffet breakfast is pretty good with a nice selection to suit all tastes. I enjoyed my stay but the whole hogging the seats and sunbeds all day put me off to be honest as its a struggled to find somewhere to relax as the beach can be quite small with the tide in. All in all a nice hotel but really busy busy..and watch out for the security guys they stare at you an try to chat you up at every opportunity, they are preditors! And whilst your trying to sunbathe in peace an also slip their fone number to you whilst carrying your bags to the room, which I found to be very Rude.. 'ROGER" ..disgusting to assume ppl are on holiday to entertain them! Damn cheek. Just a warning for the ladies.
