I stayed here with my partner and 15 month old daughter and it was our first time to Barbados. I would highly recommend this hotel, mainly for the welcome we received and how friendly the staff are. The staff were brilliant with our baby, giving her attention and not minding her crawling about or playing in the whirlpool with me. They have highchairs in the restaurant and we had a baby bath in the room, which was really helpful. At the time of our stay I found a lot of repeat older guests but most of them didn't mind having a baby around. It was a shame we couldn't get onto the beach much as the sea was really rough, we were told it was just that time of year unfortunately but for little ones you have to get a minibus taxi and head further north to find a beach with calm water. We found the food and drink prices expensive at the hotel but the food is excellent and the rum punches were the best I had on the island. Even though there was entertainment some nights we found it quiet overall. Our room was clean and we made use of the kitchenette. The housekeeping were excellent and very friendly. Just ask for anything you need. I was glad of the laundry facility too. The pool areas were always clean and there were just enough sunloungers. Overall I think the hotel is suited for older guests or families with older children but that's not saying I wouldn't go back in a few years.

My husband, baby boy and I stayed at the newly renovated Butterfly Beach Hotel in Oinstins. We stayed here in 2012 and we can definitely say the rooms are a lot better now. The bathroom and kitchenette are brighter and slightly more modern than I remember. The room is spacious and the balcony is a good size. We had what seemed like a king or queen size bed - very comfortable indeed. The room was clean and there was good size storage space. The breakfast is great - selection of cereals, pastries and hot breakfast with a Bajan twist. Dinner has been tasty too - food in general is really good, especially for a 3 star hotel. The staff are lovely and extremely friendly - definitely one of the main factors which make the hotel such a lovely place to stay while holidaying in Barbados. The only negatives I can think of, are; We were on the third floor and could hear everything from the room above us. Also there were no baby baths available - our 5 month old could not fit in the sink. We had to give him wipe downs with his washcloth or cotton balls and warm water in a bowl. If you are looking for a reasonably priced 3 star hotel in Barbados in a good location, great food, clean rooms and friendly staff - Butterfly Beach could be the one for you.

I must go down to the sea again.

Booked our holiday a year in advance, and as Barbados virgins choose the Butterfly beach from the photographs. I am so pleased we spent a bit more money on a sea view studio......fantastic. The hotel is a "Golidilocks", small enough to be personal, but large enough to have the facilities you need. The staff are friendly, and very professional. It was my wife's birthday while we were away, and we came back to discover a complimentary bottle of wine from housekeeping in our fridge; thank you so much. You are right on a small beach, but if the sea is rough, the access gates are locked. There are however a lot of sun beds if you don't mind sitting round the pools or Jacuzzi's. So why not 5 stars ? Well the cons are to do with silly greed. Everybody expects prices to be higher in a hotel, but there were a couple of real niggles. I changed $100 US at the desk, they charged me 2.5% commission. Try and pay for drinks with US dollars and you get 1.98 exchange rate. The local supermarket will accept US dollars, give you change in $BD's and give you the universal 2:1 rate. The hotel restaurant is; well mediocre is kind. Unfortunately it is also quite expensive. The majority ( other than your first night), tends to eats out. A "Z bus" for $2 will take you to loads of different bars and restaurants. If only the Butterfly would up the quality and lower the price, it would be perfect.

Just back from a fabulous 2 weeks in the Butterfly beach hotel. Stayed in the recently refitted apartments overlooking the new pool and partial sea view. The apartment was really spacious, plenty of storage space, great hairdryer, cleaned daily and fresh towels. The kitchenette area is great, kettle, toaster, microwave, large fridge and hob. Loved sitting on the balcony for breakfast in the morning with coffee and toast. Pool areas nice and clean, plenty of sunbeds available. We went out most days, used the reggae buses to go to Bridgetown, Carlisle Bay, Rockley, Worthing, Dover, and Miami beach. Top tips: Get out and about, buses cheap and so easy to use, flag down from the front of the hotel. Oistins is brilliant is you love fish and macaroni pie, lots of places to eat, the red snapper next to Pat's was our favourite, 10 mins walk from the hotel and open every night, Friday is the crazy night. Best beaches for us were Rockley and Dover $30 Bajan for 2 beds and brolly, love jumping the waves. Tour the island with Ted's tours, great day out and book with lady in the gift shop. Massey supermarket, bank and ATM 10 mins walk towards oistins. Lots of nice places to eat in The Gap. If you want to swim with the turtles do catamaran trip or you can get the bus to Carlisle Bay and go to the area in front of the government buildings, you'll see all the catamarans pulling up over the ship wrecks, it's very close to shore and easy to just swim out. Lots of return guests in this hotel which is not surprising, couldn't fault anything and staff all friendly and working hard to ensure the guests are having a great holiday.

Just returned from this hotel, I've been to the island many times but first time here. Recently refurbished it was great friendly place with lovely helpful staff. There beaches either side of the hotel with entrance from the sea front. Close to Listens for Friday fish fry and near St Lawrence Gap for many restaurants and bars to enjoy
