    Not worth the money

    We stayed at the Crane last October and had a pleasant stay despite having to be in quarrantine, the room was exactly as advertised. This time they took great delight in telling us we were being put in one of the new suites with a rooftop terrace and pool. Unfortunately the website photos were still showing the old style room which was actually what we wanted. The new room is very minimalistic, bare concrete walls, everything either beige or magnolia and no other colours to break it up. Our main concerns were around security of the apartment details of which I am not going to publish in here but made the hotel aware of. Other things that were not really thought out, no separate light switch in the ensuite toilet, it was blanked out so if you got up in the night and put the bathroom lights on, you flood the bedroom with light through the louvered doors. There are other points that just show a lack of attention to detail. The fact of having no water occasionally, and for most of the time no hot water could be attributed in part to the building work, I assume. Most other hotels that are undergoing refurbishment would actually post that fact on their website in advance and be transparent and open about it, not tell you on the way to your room. I don't believe any if these issues were caused by anything to do with the recent ashfall. All in all a disappointing second stay. Usual corporate response received to our complaints/comments.

    One of the first hotels on the Island of Barbados. It is high up on a cliff with steps to the sea. A quarantine hotel, hospitable and happy. The staff were helpful and the rooms large and spacious some with their own pool. The manager was exceptional and gave us great rooms. Totally recommend this hotel.

    A group of six friends recently stayed at The Crane for a well deserved staycation and it was far the worst experience ever. Over a four day period, there was continuous delivery of poor service, lack of attention to detail and simply a display of a nonchalant attitude from Management. ......still awaiting an explanation as to why things went wrong

    I spent 6 days in quarantine at The Crane which did not at all feel like restraint as I had a beautiful room (apartment) with access to an outdoor private pool and rooftop deck which was perfect for watching sunsets. The room was well appointed and equipped with all amenities to make a quarantine less punishing. My only concern was the internet connectivity, however, the staff were really accommodating and did everything within their power to address any issues I brought to their attention.

    1. Staff try their best and hotel itself are very nice. 2. The rules of the country at the time we went indicate that you have to stay quarantined for a little while until a second covid test is acquired. We came to find out that whole is 5 days after arrival!! We were also told that the rules require us to stay in the room the whole time during those We were not told this while booking a 7 night stay! 3. After being exhausted, we checked in for one night and are trying to get the rest of the trip cancelled! We offered to stay if they give us a room with a bigger pool and garden area so The kids can enjoy their stay. The lobby told me to reach out to the hilton directly or pay an extra $125 usd per night for the different room. They said they aren't authorized to "upgrade" us for free. I've already paid an arm and a leg to come here, and have to pay an arm and a leg for every meal or item here as I cannot leave to look for more reasonably priced restaurants! 4. I'm on the phone now with hilton customer service and have been on hold for 2 hours!! My patience had worn very thin. 5. After that hold I was told by hilton that my issue was with the government regulations and not the hotel and there is "nothing they can do." They said that even a complementary room change is at the discretion of the hotel itself and they cannot offer me anything as I booked through a third party service (JetBlue vacations). 6. During our stay, Jeff, one of the managers, tried to accommodate us as much as possible. He made the best out of a very bad situation for us. After arguing with him, he switched our room out to one with a larger backyard area. 7. After roughly 6 days of quarantine we finally got out of the room. You are only allowed on the beaches from 6AM to 9AM and from 3pm to 6pm at this time due to the country's covid restrictions. The Crane beach (the one in the hotel) had a large amount of seaweed on the beachfront. No chairs or umbrellas were provided to the guests. I ended up paying around $25usd one way for taxis to go to different beaches that were better kept. 8. On our 6th day when we were released from quarantine we asked the hotel for room service. They said their policy is that they don't enter a room until 24 hours after quarantine is completed????? We weren't quarantining for a positive test!!! We all tested negative twice!! When we expressed our discontent with anything they would offer us punch. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE
