Needs Improvement but overall nice

JudithAdms12 (Kitchener, Canada) on Apr 13, 2024

The overall experience was positive, especially for my family's first trip to Cancun. The kids had a great time, particularly enjoying the pools. The majority of the staff were friendly and respectful. However, there are some areas that need improvement. Firstly, despite being an all-inclusive hotel, the lunch options are limited to either the Mexican restaurant or a small selection via room service. This repetitive menu can become tiresome. Additionally, for dinner, only one restaurant doesn't require a reservation, leading to frustration as it's difficult to secure a reservation at other restaurants due to high demand. Secondly, obtaining poolside chairs is a challenge as they are often occupied early in the morning, requiring guests to wake up very early to reserve them. Lastly, there were issues with communication and transparency at the front desk. We were unaware of a non-refundable credit they charged without informing us, which we couldn't retrieve if unused. This lack of clarity left us feeling disappointed and frustrated.

Elite pool area is awesome.

Dallas S on Apr 12, 2024

The white pool area is off the hook. Kevin and Angel always do am excellent job of taking care of me and my group. Family and friends always feel special when they are in charge and running the elite pool. Whether was a bit cooler and rainy this week but still an enjoyable week.

Best birthday!

Emily G on Apr 11, 2024

This resort is amazing! The food is unbelievable and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Eric was the best! He kept the best drinks coming on my birthday. I had a great birthday here and would definitely recommend the all inclusive packages. The pools and beach are stunning and there are lots of options for excursions. I 100% suggest going to at least one cenote while in Cancun!

Amazing vacation and resort

Dan R on Apr 10, 2024

We were at the resort from March 23, 2024 through April 6. We were guest of elite members. This was also our second trip to this resort. The first was 8 years ago. To start the Villa del Palmar is still very beautiful and clean. The staff is very friendly, polite and professional. We had several meals at the restaurants onsite and the food, atmosphere and most importantly the staff were outstanding. The maid service was excellent, friendly, polite and professional. The ground keepers do an amazing job keeping everything beautiful and clean. We had access to the VIP pool and had an amazing time there. It started with Kevin and Angel who plan all the guests cabanas, lounge chairs and umbrellas. The two of them made sure that we had enough shade and places to relax. They are very friendly, polite and professional. We enjoyed getting to know them. For several days during our trip our beverage and food service was handled by Enrique Salanna. He was serving everyone at VIP pool which is a large group. He was very friendly, polite and professional. Enrique took care of so well we never felt neglected or ignored. Because Kevin, Angel and Enrique made us feel very welcomed we feel we made friends which made this vacation one of the best. Everyone of the staff made us feel Cancun an Villa del Palmar is a special and wonderful place to visit.

Overall okay. But lots to improve

S108MWmarkk on Apr 10, 2024

The overall experience was good. It was my family's first trip to Cancun and my kids enjoyed the experience. The overall staff were very friendly and respectful and the kids enjoyed the pools. However Few things that need to be addressed are food, chairs and front desk staff. First of all, it is supposed to an all-inclusive hotel. However for lunch you only have a very limited option of choosing either Mexican restaurant or room service of again very limited selection of food. So you feel sick of eating same food for lunch. For dinner only one restaurant didn't require reservation. All other restaurants require you to make reservations but you can never find the reservation time when you normally eat dinner because there are more always people than all these restaurants can accommodate. So we were very disappointed about this and ended up going to one restaurant that didn't require reservation. Secondly, the chairs around the pool area are taken all the time and you literally have to wake up 6 in the morning to save a spot. Third, front desk people need to be more kind and clear about their communication with their customers. Be aware they have non-refundable credit they charge without telling you can't get it back if not used. No one explained this to us when we were checking in.
