Dont believe a thing about this hotel. Resort credits are fake - they give you $200 but in order to cash them, you'll have to spend around $500 cash. Its a coupon discount booklet and not a good one. And you can't use resort credits on food - so dont think you can buy food with them.......Photos are generally fake. The rooms are ok, but far less spacious than they look in the photos. Next to the swimming pool there is an ugly and stinky swamp. The breakfast is not very attractive, but the restaurant's staff is super friendly and helpful. According to google maps its 10 minutes walk from mambo beach, but it'll take you at least half an hour and you do not want to walk it below the curacao sun. We had lots of expectations according to what we've seen on the internet regarding Acoya, but ended up in a huge disappointment. The tour desk manager Elizabeth is a lovely person, but the conversation with front desk mananger was a horrible experience. Not child friendly people smoking everywhere. NOT RECOMMENDED. NEVER GOING BACK!

September 22, 2019: Our flight, security and customs went smoothly in Montreal. We then took a connecting flight in Toronto, all went well since we did not have to repeat security and customs. Our luggage went from Montreal to Curacao. Air Canada was waiting for us in Curacao and gave us the free shuttle to Acoya. Upon arrival, we checked into room 1066 and were disappointed. It was too small, dark and dingy with a cigarette odour in the room. We were stunned that housekeeping had not reported this issue. There was no kitchenette and fridge. We decided to upgrade to a one bedroom apartment to room 2208 for an extra 35$ per day. This unit had a separate bedroom, fully equipped kitchen with a big balcony and well furnished. This unit was completely equipped for cooking, coffee machine and two flat screen televisions. Throughout our vacation, Mabel and Sheyna took excellent care of us always doing their very best to please us. Thank you so much to both of you. We went for a walk and bought milk, Sprite and a raisin bun at a convenience store. September 23: We had coffee on the balcony and off to our 9:00am shuttle to Mambo Beach which is a 5 minute ride or a 20-25 minute walk. We took the 2:00pm shuttle back to Acoya. We bought food at Subway's (being curious) is it the same as in Montreal? It was, we ate on our balcony after spending the day at the beach. The beach was crowded since one cruise ship was in Curacao. After lunch, we took the 4:00pm shuttle to the grocery store. At 6:00pm we went to the pool and had fun until 10:00pm with a nice glass of wine. There was entertainment every night including professional musicians. September 24: Coffee and breakfast on the balcony. We took the 9:00am shuttle to Mambo Beach. The beach was quiet due to absence of cruise ships. At 3:00pm we showered outdoors and walked to a wonderful Chinese restaurant. My wife enjoyed broccoli chicken, rice and I had szechuan chicken and potatoes and a beer. September 25: We took our 9:30am shuttle to downtown Punda. We shopped and bought gifts for family and friends. We saw a beautiful big cruise ship. We had a delicious italian lunch at Barilo de Mario. Then, we went for homemade italian gelato on Main Street where the big cow is located. Later, we returned to our italian restaurant for Lavazza cafe latte. We then took the 2:45pm shuttle back to Acoya and spent the afternoon by the pool. September 26: We took the 9:00am shuttle to Mambo Beach where we spent the entire day. Today was another record and spectacular beautiful day. This week has been sunny with above normal temperatures. We had a delicious Italian lunch at Pizza Mare located at Mambo Beach. We ate ravioli with tomato sauce and a margarita pizza. The pizza dough was far too thin, but the ravioli was delicious. The portions are big and Gizelle served us with a friendly smile. Lunch was reasonably priced. We showered and left Mambo Beach at 3:30pm for our usual walk back to Acoya. We then took the 4:00pm shuttle bus to the grocery store. We were back at the pool at 6:00pm and later enjoyed the entertainment by the pool. We had our usual snack of apple, cheese, dates and chocolate coconut cookies. September 27: Today was another beautiful day at Mambo Beach. We ate at the Mediterranean Greenhouse restaurant. We each had a delicious plate of teriyaki chicken with veggies and salad. Zorinna greeted us with her smile and great service. Our plates were quite full and tasty. They were equally reasonably priced. At the beach, we met Kevin a tennis pro from Holland. Laura the Italian and Kathy the Venezuelan always took great care of us at Mambo Beach. September 28: We spent another wonderful and beautiful day at Mambo Beach. We ate chicken Arepas at Crepes etc. We then went to have homemade ice cream that was made in front of us (Ice'n Roll). We next visited Bon Bini resort which is directly across Mambo Beach. We visited a very spacious one bedroom unit with a long and private balcony. However, the pool was small. This is a very small resort with a reception which is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm. They have a shuttle only to the grocery store, not to Punda. At 4:30pm, we went for a walk to McDonald's and Best Buy grocery store. It is like our Provigo Entrepot in Montreal. It was a 25 minute walk. We also found The Rib Factory the famous restaurant for chicken and ribs. The distillery is Landhuis Chobolobo Curacao Liquor Distillery. Exit Acoya and turn right, continue straight to the Hundyai Dealer and McDonald's. It should be on the left, we didn't go there but definitely will next time. At Mambo beach there are no vendors, when the cruise ships come in we chose to go to Punda because the beach gets very crowded. There are many bathrooms and showers. On the beach we felt safe and when walking around the city the same. People would actually honk at us always ready to pick us up to give us a lift. They felt bad for us because it was very hot but we always wanted to walk as we walk a lot in Montreal. So as you can read from this comment the people are nice and always ready to help. The fact that it is a beautiful island with beautiful people we will be looking to go back next year for two weeks! September 29, 2019, Bus pickup at Acoya at 11:15am. A flight back to Toronto, had to get our suitcases to put on a conveyor for a trip back to our new flight going back to Montreal. We had to pass security again (went fast) and straight onto the plane. Mambo Beach shuttle: 9:00am and return is 2:00pm. Punda shuttle : 9:30am and return is 2:30pm Grocery shuttle: 4:00pm and return is 5:00pm. Towels: excellent service at front desk, we never had any issues.

My stay at ACOYA Resort, Villas and Spa was enjoyable. I was paying my first visit to my birthplace in 60 years. The amenities, ambiance and overall experience were satisfactory. I however felt that the front desk staff in particular could have been more pleasant and accommodating. I recommend ACOYA Resorts, Villas and Spa.

The resort was nice but it was dead. Not for sure if it was there off season but if you're a writer and want solitude and want a vacation this is your place. There was really no entertainment besides the man that played an instrument. All the shops and other dinning restaurants were closed except for 1. The beach pictures are very deceptive. The pictures that they show are Mambo beach which is like 5/8mins away. Because my best friend and I went for a walk for local food we found the fastest route to Mambo beach if you so happen had to take the over priced taxi. Do not let them take you around the world just to get there. The quickest way is once you are leaving out the resort take a left and take that street all the way to the end where you have to turn right or left. In front of you will be a turf soccer field right on the ocean. Turn left and and you will pass Sunscape resorts which was our final destination to meet up with our friends. Right after Sunscape on the right will be Mambo beach. Also, we learned from the Sunscape receptionist that it was just easier to take the bus for $2 if you missed your shuttle. Talking about being mad at Acoya for not telling us this because those taxi rides for a short distance ranged from $20-$40. Anyways, their so called hidden Pearl can stay hidden from me. I didn't sleep well cause the mattress was so uncomfortable. The resort could be so so so much more with how it is laid out with the personal villas, but I guess we came at the wrong time. If I plan on coming back I will be booking at The Beach House just amazing and it's right on Mambo beach.

Of all the hotels, resorts, all inclusives that we have visited, by fat this so call hotel is the worst..NOT customer service driven atittude at all. No, they (all staff) are not rude; however, they don't have a go-beyond out of your way attitude to please their guests. Upon arrival, there absolutely no one available to help us with our bags (4) so we had to push up the ramp our own bags. The restaurant is very disorganized; one incident that I remember in particular is that 1 particular night during dinner 1 of the waitresses didnt' know what table the dish she had on her hand belonged to, and the same happened with another waiter. During that same night, when we order dessert, 1 of our dessert had a layer of hair in it; we brought it to the waitress's attention whom never apologize for the inconveniece; instead she demonstrated lack of professionalism by telling us why did we order 2 if we barely ate one. The transportation this hotel provides to and from the beach (20 minute walk or5 minute car ride) has a very limited service during the afternooon. You're better off renting a car because 1 way from the hotel to the nearest beach can cost youas much as $20 ONE WAY!... and if you can use a bac past 11pm they charge you $30 ONE WAY.....transporration in Curacao is a total rip off. WOULD NOT RECOMMMED THIS HOTEL OR CURACAO BY ANY MEANS ARUBA IS THE TRUE HAPPY ISLAND WHO TRULY HAVE A GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE DRIVEN ATTITUTDE JUST AS MUCH AS THE FOLKS IN CANCUN, MEXICO
