I'm surprised that some people give this condo hotel one star. The rooms were large, the location perfect, the staff was beyond helpful and accommodating, and the view from our room was fantastic. Everyone who worked there was great. And we had linen and garbage collection service daily. The room had a home theater setup with a big screen TV and surround speakers. This is right in the thick of it, so you have food options within easy walking distance everywhere, including right on the first floor, which empties out to the beach and surf stands. The room was over 700 square feet. The balcony was a little narrow, but long enough to accommodate four adults. Well, look at the pictures below. This was not our first trip to Waikiki, so it's not that were were bedazzled. We just really enjoyed our stay here. Complaints? Just two.The AC is a single ceiling level unit so it can blow right on people who are on the wraparound sofa, but it can be adjusted by a remote control. Also, the bathroom had no fan - just a window for ventilation. This is common in resort areas - we encountered this in Ft. Lauderdale and the Keys, too.

    Waikiki Shores by Outrigger

We have stayed here many times before starting in 1995, and always stay here, when in Waikiki usually in the condos operated by Castle Hotels and Resort. This time we decided to stay in the portion operated by Outrigger, and that proved to be a big mistake. We booked and paid for a 1 bedroom ocean view condo, and were given a room, on floor 15, with great views. The first evening when we went to bed, after a long day of flights etc, the bed was as hard as a rock. It was like the top mattress was left off. I think the floor would've been more comfortable. We called the Outrigger, and they brought a foam topper, and it was too small, so I slept on the bed, and my husband tried to get comfortable on the couch....which was almost as uncomfortable as the rock hard bed. The 2nd day of our vacation, they moved us to a gorgeous unit with great bedding....but it was on floor 5 and they assured us it was ocean views, and it was not, basically all the view was palm trees and Fort DeRussey Park and the street. They still tried to tell us it was ocean views....uh no....we have been coming to Hawaii for 25 years, and have stayed at the Royal Hawaiian, many Outrigger properties, Sheratons, Astons, Westin's etc...and I know they can call it any kind of view they want, but it's certainly not an ocean view in my or anyone else's opinion I have showed to my associates in the hotel industry. The Castle section that runs condos in this same building call this a Park View. We are Hawaiian Travel Agents, since 1995, and specialize in Hawaii, and this is by far the worst worst experience we have ever had not just in Hawaii but in any of our travels world wide, and have now used almost 2 days of a 7 day... trip, trying to sort this. We paid regular rates, no TA discount (not that that should make a difference, one should still get what one pays for). The service is abysmal, and ghey dont even act like they care. Check out the 2 photo's the one room is an ocean view, and the room with all the palm trees and almost no ocean they tried to tell us was an overview too....I think not. I have had partial ocean views with better views. Very disappointed in Outrigger.

Be forewarned that this older condo building is having unit remodels performed throughout the year. The first indication that your dream vacation will turn into a nightmare is at 9:00 a.m. on Monday thru Friday when demolition work begins in the unit next door. There will be cement drilling, rotary saw whining and sledgehammer pounding emanating from the common wall throughout the day. The noise level is so loud at times that you will find it hard to even think. When you confront Castle Resorts front desk or even Waikiki Shore AOAO office they will act as if they weren't aware that it was scheduled but tell you that the house rules allow it till 4:30 p.m. Mon thru Fri. Why should they be concerned anyway, their dream vacation isn't being ruined. The question now is, why wouldn't Castle Resorts or the Waikiki Shore AOAO want to inform future guests that their vacation experience might be tarnished by loud construction noise Mon thru Fri.? Or offer compensation to affected renters to ameliorate the situation. Well, the answer to me is obvious, to maximize profit. As we all know, renters are a necessary evil in this business. Even though they are usually noisy, inconsiderate and destructive, we need them to pay for mortgage or business expenses. I know there is no recourse for the renter because they are never informed of the schedule construction planned during their stay and the house rules allow the noise. Sounds like a "Win / Win" for the owners and Castle Resorts & Hotels.

We booked this as part of a works tour, so far we have stayed in 8 hotels/condos, all delux rooms with views. The view is spectacular and that’s where this positives end. The “delux room” has rush on the cooker, the fridge is older than me, the shower runs Luke warm if you’re lucky. One bedside table, no headboard, lumpy cheap pillows, stained curtains, cheap sheets, mismatched floor tiles, strange smell in room and then you get the hidden fees on arrival. We stayed two nights and got charged $195 for a cleaning fee! I’m sticking with Hilton and Marriott from now on, would never stay in a condo ever again. Don’t be misled by the pictures on their site, extremely misleading.

We just got home from this great condo yesterday. We stayed in 904 studio and it was clean, great view, and had everything we needed. King bed was great and the balcony was best part for setting, eating, and viewing. If and when we come back to Hawaii we will stay here again. We had a great 43rd. anniverary!!
