    Run down hotel from 1960s, terrible customer service

    I travel all of the time and I never complain (this may literally be my first review). But the experience at this hotel was so poor that I could not let it go by without comment even after months of sleeping on it. I don't know where to start. First, the gym is not available when it rains because there are regular leaks through the ceiling. My issue is not that the gym is unavailable, but that rather than fix the leak the hotel has decided just to permanently remove tiles and set up drip buckets whenever it rains. Second, the hotel is severely understaffed and everything takes forever. It was not usual to wait 15 minutes for a valet when I was the only guest waiting - the valet worker was not allowed to leave his post because he was the only worker available. Check in was a nightmare. Third, the hotel can't even get little things right. The lounge was closed without notice, even though the lounge is listed as a benefit when you pay the daily "resort fee." Also good luck getting one of the 25ish seats by the pool (we went down the road to the Westin to hang out at their pool instead). Finally the hotel does not even keep umbrellas stocked for guests when it rains. At 9AM the hotel was "out" of umbrellas but they had thousands on plastic ponchos. Again, down the street at the Westin we saw hundreds of extra umbrellas being handed out like it was no big deal all through the afternoon. Sorry to sound like I am complaining, but I reached out to Marriott / Bonvoy multiple times and never received a reply. Its obvious they do not care. This hotel looks like it may have been cool in the 1960s and hasn't received an upgrade since. Look at all the other recent reviews and see how everyone is disappointed.

    The front desk staff was very friendly, but did not give me a ton of information - usually you get details on breakfast, towels, etc., but those were omitted. The bell staff was great, and helped fill in some of the gaps. We got upgraded to a suite, so our room was a good size, with a microwave and fridge. I have to admit that my first impression of the room was not great - there was a dead roach in the corner of the closet that was there the entire length of our stay. The bathroom was large with a nice tub/shower. The removable shower head with a bar to change the height was perfect for showering both me and my toddler. I love the beach, and that it is easily accessible from the hotel. It can get a little crowded, but wasn’t busy during our stay. We also loved the cliff diving ceremony. We only ate at the lunch place by the pools. The nachos were fine but not great. The quesadillas were very good. The breakfast buffet was as expected, but it was very good. I was pleasantly surprised by how flaky the croissants were. I also appreciated the omelette station. Walking distance to Whalers Village is an added bonus.

    We had already been in Ka’anapali for a week before checking into the Sheraton! Irene at the front desk was welcoming, helpful and happy to assist us with room accommodation and early arrival suggestions. Throughout our weeklong stay we were met with consistent levels of hospitality from the restaurants, pool service and bellmen. We’re already planning on staying here again next year!

    Didsapointed so far!! Not a good start to our homeymoon

    Arrived today to begin our honeymoon and our room was not ready by check in time! We’ve been traveling for 20 hours and now must sit in our airport clothes with all our luggage waiting. There are other more expensive rooms available, they should have upgraded us for free given that this is their error and we paid for our room beginning at 3. Didsapointed so far!!!!

    Sheraton is a very nice property. The location is great for north/south Maui. The staff try’s very hard to get you checked in quickly so you can relax after a long flight. The only downfall is that it is an older property that has ultra thin walls. Not good when conventions are there and the “guests” don’t have common sense about how loud they are at talking at midnight or 2AM. As with all resorts, they allow people to “reserve” pool chairs...they really need to tighten that policy as people try to reserve a dozen chairs early morning for friends that don’t show up until the afternoon. Kudos to the valet team who always had my car ready when I needed it, along with directions and a smile.
