Great location needing a serious facelift

As soon as we arrived we loved the location of our cottage. It’s close to the beach and the snorkel pools are great. We were sad to find out how outdated our place was. My husband had to fix two out of the 3 blinds and one ended up just staying broken even after we requested maintenance to fix it. The windows were quite dirty, and so was the A/C unit. We had to have our bathtub unclogged (at least this was done!) I purchased Lysol to clean it better. The furniture isn’t the most comfortable and there was nothing in the kitchen as far as paper towel, utensils or plates go, so we bought everything we needed. Being mandatory quarantined for a couple of days, it was a bit of inconvenience having nothing to put food in or eat with (we brought some oatmeal from home to “survive” on, just in case, knowing there was a coffee maker to heat water with.) We couldn’t leave the room and go up to the restaurant for breakfast for the first two days (understandable due to the pandemic) however, the hotel wouldn’t bring food to the room until 9:30 am. So, no food delivered, no dinnerware to make our own. We were famished. The front desk people are super nice, the lobby is great, the pools are cute. I called for housekeeping every 3 days, as the one towel we got per person got pretty used up after muddy hikes and salty/sandy beach trips. One of the days we got a clear plastic bag of towels dropped of in the hallway of our cottage. Something I’d expect from a Motel 6, maybe, not from a Hilton and not for the price of the cottage. Having a way to rinse off shoes/feet by the cottage would have been fantastic and very helpful to keep everything a bit cleaner. Maybe a faucet outside? We loved that it was quiet and peaceful here. Conveniently located to road trips, shopping and eating out. I hope the hotel will buy new furniture and blinds, and some very basic kitchenware, even if it’s disposable. We would love to come back to those upgrades.
Amazing staff, beautiful property

I recommend to stay at this Hilton property, the staff was super friendly and I felt safe the entire time , even walking at night by myself at the beach to see the stars. The breakfast ladies were so friendly. It was so refreshing to see Jayanne every morning with her “ eyes smile” to great us . She went the extra mile to make us happy. The location of the hotel is perfect, half away from every attraction that you might want to visit during your stay. The beach by the hotel is a beautiful beach to see the sunrise. I will definitely will be back.
Not Your Average Hilton Garden Inn

This is an older Hilton property, but it really reflects the architecture and open-air beauty of Kauai. The hotel employees were gracious and helpful, and the hotel was clean and well-maintained. If you are looking for a luxury hotel on one of the finest beaches in Kauai, this would not be the ideal place to stay. The hotel is conveniently located near the Kauai Airport, but the photos are a bit deceiving since the property is in a pretty congested area and does not sit directly on the beach. It is also fairly close to a beach camp for homeless travelers, and since I was traveling solo, I did not feel safe exploring the beach areas near the hotel by foot. I am a very loyal Hilton Diamond member of many years, but I would not make this hotel my primary stay during my next trip to Kauai. They do have some cottages that are separated from the main building, and they do afford privacy for traveling families. I had an 1145pm flight, so I just stayed here for the day until my flight departure. My upgrade was unavailable due to my early arrival, so I did accept a double room without a view. Again, the front desk employees were extremely gracious and helpful during my stay.

Were here with family had had 2 roo.s next to each other with sliding doors so could visit without a problem. Spacious rooms with loveseat and desk. The children liked the chickens and cats. The breakfast was very good with large portions. No buffet due to covid restrictions.
Excellent arrangements by Amy!

I've been coming to Hawaii since (ghasp!) 1963 and to Kauai for almost that long. I've stayed all over Kauai from hotels to rented houses and condos. My stay at the Garden Inn was exemplary. It started right after I walked up to the front desk and met Amy, the friendliest and most composed front desk person I've ever met. Always smiling she somehow dealt with me as a walk-up with no reservations, another guest who was constantly interrupting, and a leaf blower going on near her feet. She set me up with a perfect room to meet my requests and dealt with other distractions while never losing her composure. I've stayed at $350/night rooms all over this country and this far cheaper room was as good as any and the professionalism was excellent. Can't recommend this place, and the staff, enough.
