Great proximity to the parks, use the walkway! Stay in the family poolside outside suites in Castaway for the best experience. Better wi-fi in that building as well. Say hi to Eden for us at the Swizzles Lounge, and order the Manhattan from her, you won't regret it!

Nice Property - Fun Time at Universal

Loved the property, fun retro theme throughout and all there was to do at this resort. Checkin took a very long time on a Friday evening—close to 35 minutes—but Orlando and long lines tend to go hand in hand anyway. Once we got to the counter service was cheerful, helpful and went smoothly. Buses to resorts were large and constantly moved so no issue there. There is a large gym, pools and fire pits as well as a bowling alley. Why a 4 instead of a 5? For starters the room which I was told when I booked would accommodate 6 (we had 5 adults) could accommodate 6 but at 5 we were crammed in. I had initially wanted to book 2 separate rooms and was talked into a family “suite”. We managed but only because we were rarely in the room. For a family with young kids this suite would be fine. Also being a Universal Resort (and we have stayed at the other 3 previously) It would be nice to be able to access the property by walking—they do discourage it as it is close to half hour walk moving at a brisk pace—much longer if you are casually strolling. There was also an additional almost $20 per night parking per car—I feel for what they charge for a room and the parking lot is not special—just pavement around the property, I found this a little steep. I could see charging if you had more than one car per room but this just rubbed me wrong. But they do this at the other park resorts too. Lastly when they tell you resort guests get into the park an hour early—that is true—but ONLY the original park and ONLY the Harry Potter section is open. So if you are going for anything other than Harry Potter in the “original” park save your money and stay off property as there is no advantage other than not having to drive to the park. Many other properties have shuttles and buses. Been to park many many times. Miss some of the old rides—like Jaws and Twister. New ones tend to be more computer generated graphics and less “action”. The new Fast and Furious ride was a huge disappointment for us all—other than the human interaction going into the actual ride—which was funny. Just felt flat. Sorry Universal—we all were expecting a little more from where the old Earthquake ride used to be—at least that used to move and have water and fire...Still love the live animal show and Fear Factor and the impromptu performances scattered throughout—the construction band was amazing!! Hollywood Make Up/Special Effects show was hysterically funny. Macy’s parade was enjoyable and all the holiday decorations are fun and festive — Mannheim Steamroller concert was incredible—so the parks themselves were great fun.

    Bright, Cheery Doo-wop

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this bright and cheery retro doo-wop hotel. We used it as a base for two days at Universal theme parks and three at Disney, about 15 minutes away. The food court, while not spectacular, was more than serviceable for breakfast and late dinners. Nicely sized rooms with comfy beds and too-stiff pillows. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a change of pace from the Disney scene.

Nice but could have been nicer! Small room, floors in hallways and room not clean. Asked for a quiet room with a view and it was quiet however it was so far away from the amenities of the hotel and the view was of the parking lots!
