Played the Palms Course on 5/8/2021 and the course is in need of some love. Bermuda greens appeared diseased and very bumpy. Bunkers had virtually no sand in them. Tee boxes were patchy but the fairways were in good shape overall. For a desert course in May it was, however, well below par.

Sadly, so many positives about this resort, excellent compliance with covid procedures, lovely staff for the most part, but I went to this resort primarily for one reason....relax, unwind by the pool after a year of being cooped up. The LOUD pounding “music” at ALL three pools was horrific! It was like being in an outdoor disco. You could not escape the constant BOOM Boom boom....I approached three “managers” to see if it was possible to turn down the volume at one pool so those who did not want to be subjected to this could get some peace...they all declined saying this is just the way they do it. I’ve been in the luxury hotel business for 25 years and sadly this attitude does not reflect customer service. There were several other guests agreeing with me as well. Lovely resort in many ways but I’ll stick to Rosewood, Four Seasons, Auberge and Ritz where the customer comes first and you can get some peace and quiet.

We stayed here 5 nights from April 28-May 4. It's a large beautiful property in a nice location. We had room 7138, which had a limited view of the putt putt course. We tried to get a better view but the front desk staff said they were booked solid for the weekend. We ate at the sushi restaurant, Fishermans landing, the pool bar, and ordered room service. The quality of the meals and service were all excellent. We didn't really experience many of the issues that the recent negative reviews mentioned. On the weekend Starbucks did have a huge line The golf course was fine, compared to another course I golfed it does need some maintenance....but all the staff were great. Housekeeping also did a nice job. If you plan on going to the pool on the weekends make sure you wake up early to get a chair. We ended up at the Springs pool on saturday which was fine, very quiet compared to the Oasis pools and plenty of shade. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Pros: I come to this hotel around every other year to visit my husbands sister who lives in Palm Desert. The grounds are beautifully kept and we thoroughly enjoy walking around them and seeing the beautiful Mountain View’s. We had a signature view room which is really nice. The rooms have been renovated but feel they could have been done a bit nicer. I saw reviews that the rooms were not cleaned. Our room was very clean and was cleaned every day so no issues with that. The maids seem very nice. The 2 golf courses are spectacular and my husband plays them every time we come. We ate at Rockwood Grill for breakfast and lunch a couple of times. Lisa, who has worked at the hotel over 30 years is amazing and very welcoming. What an asset to the hotel. Cons: Covid constraints were very inconsistent and ridiculous. They close the golf range at 12pm- and this is the one thing my husband loves to do while I’m at the pool. No reason why Covid should shut this down early. In addition, Starbucks closes at 12pm- don’t know what Covid has to do with this. Makes no sense especially since the lines in morning are ridiculously long. They need to get more help there and open it all day. So they close certain things early because of Covid but they allow a Vegas type scene at the main pool all day. Lounge chairs are jammed tight and absolutely no social distancing but they close a golf range at 12pm. We always loved the Libby bar and was serviced by Manny and he was great. My only complaint is that the weekends seem to get a rowdy and loud crowd. Not a good look for the hotel. They need to get this under control! All in all, we enjoyed our stay but hope they maintain this hotel.

The staff are cheerful and friendly, except the man at the Bonvoy Elite Checkin desk the first day. He was detached and unhelpful. Service is sorely lacking. No one to answer the concierge phone and no room service. For any help or to get a question answered you have to trek 10 minutes to the front desk or 15 minutes to a restaurant. Limited menus in the restaurants and quality was mediocre. The Starbucks is expensive and under staffed and in the morning the line was always long. The $38 resort fee is robbery because you get nothing for your money. The self parking is crowded and frequently full or a 20 minute walk in the hot sun. They charge $3 for bottled water on the golf course where lesser resorts provide it for free. In late April the temp was 100+ and the desert course has little shade. Much of the hotel is closed “due to Covid,” but you’d think they would utilize the rooms with the best locations in the hotel and position guest so that the staff could provide attentive service while still observing Covid protocols.
