    Older but comfortable

We have stayed here several times before. Not far from Old Town, bus stops right at the hotel. This is an older property, situated between the mountain and the ocean, so no landscaped grounds. The suites need updating badly, but our 1 BR was very spacious, clean and comfortable...it even had 1 1/2 baths! The view here is unmatched and our favorite part of the place...each balcony fronts the ocean, and whales and dolphins are seen almost daily. Main pool is now heated and particularly nice for an after-dinner swim. Staff is great, friendly and always helpful. The private lagoon is nice, although sometimes closed because of high tides. If you like long walks on the beach skip this resort. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons for us, and we will probably be back.

Overall good experience. Saw this hotel on the UK, Thomson web site for the first time this year, and it turned out to be a good choice. Rooms were on the 7th floor, very spacious, well equipped with a large fridge and gas hob, very clean with daily maid service. Bit put out at first by the road and ocean noise but soon got used to it. Board basis was B&B with an "American" breakfast included, this was adequate and included a selection of fresh fruit and juice, plus eggs, ham or bacon, sausage with toast and coffee served to the table. There is an option to upgrade to a Buffet breakfast at an extra charge if required. Meals available throughout the day were generally good with reasonably priced special menu options, changing daily available for evening dinner. Table waiting staff were very attentive and helpful at all times and I particularly would like to praise "Claudia" who was excellent. Similarly drinks were reasonably priced and service very good, all additional food and drinks and accounting is efficient with "running total" print outs available from reception at any time. Amenities at the hotel good with a nice pool area, also a small beach and lagoon with good safe swimming and snorkelling possibilities.Entertainment is good with shows by local dancers and musicians most evenings. Transport links are good with frequent buses from right outside the hotel, and although rather "hairy" are very cheap both into PV and to other nearby resorts like Mismaloya and Boca. Taxis are also readily available and cheap. We would be happy to return to this hotel, and indeed hope to do so. In our view it offers a good, reasonably priced, overall package.

Was a great place to relax and see all the beauty of Puerto Vallarta! Clean place good food and great service. Our server “Neto” Ernesto was great, funny, and welcoming! The bus into town stops right in front of the hotel. Would definitely go back!

We stayed at the Costa Sur for 3 weeks this winter. Our studio room was not one of the updated rooms but was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette had the bare necessities to make your own meals. Nice size with a gorgeous view. If you are looking for a small resort with easy access to PV this is the place. The only drawback for us was that there was no where to walk and we like to walk a lot therefore we had to take a bus north or south to do any walking. Buses run frequently and are a great way to get to town. Staff was wonderful. We ate only breakfasts at the resort which were good but cannot comment on the food otherwise. As with any other resort the pool chairs were taken early but that didn't bother us. Overall a good place to stay.

We spent two weeks at Costa Sur. We had wonderful service. The rooms were very clean. We sat at the same place for breakfast every morning. Our waiter was awesome. He brought me peanut butter every morning! The staff around the pool were very attentive. We’re going back for Christmas and New Year. Can’t wait to see Ivan and Alexa! You two rock!!! Nicole and Scott.??
