There are SO many things to love about this resort. Our 'wants' on a trip are: a clean hotel, great food selection and taste, nice beach, a room with an ocean view where you can hear the waves , a HOT shower with great pressure, HOT tea (for one of us), polite staff, and champagne(!). All of these were met on the trip and more; at breakfast they even had the most delicious gluten free muffins!! We never tired of the food and could easily have stayed longer than a week. At the beach we had fun watching iguanas traverse the rock walls and seeing whales from our lounge chairs! We saw many water spouts and fins and one day a whale put on a show, surging up out of the water four or five times!! We liked walking around the resort to work off some of the food as we could walk up and down the various sets of stairs and walk out to the main road and back. The onsite animal enclosure was also interesting although we would have preferred to see the monkeys have more space and stimulating things to do and for the ostrich to have its full feathers. That said we enjoyed watching the biologist whistle soothingly to the animals as he entered their areas at feeding times. We also liked walking through the 'jungle' area as it was peaceful and felt very close to how the area must have been naturally. We're not usually into the entertainment at resorts however we did enjoy the fire show and the range of singers and bands at this resort. The adult pool was also fantastic as it is open late and is heated. We walked the beach (bring water shoes to walk on the lava rocks) and enjoyed hanging out in the ocean and watching the salt pool drain and fill with the tides. All in all we enjoyed ourselves a lot and would be happy to return. If we could recommend one thing it would be to change the type of coffee as it lacks the depth of flavour had at other resorts in Mexico.

I absolutely love the fact that I felt like I was in a jungle. The resort is well maintain and the staff are very helpful. The nightly entertainment was a little disappointing. The ocean was warm and a lot of fun to play in, the pools were great. The coffee was the best I ever had in Mexico.

Very friendly staff, they call you by your name and always greet you. If you have any issues they will resolve them for you. Place was clean Food and drinks were great. We loved La Adeltia -- up high can the sunset on the bay, they make your guacamole at your table. Second favorite was Bamboo Oriental. we ate on the terrace at El Bosque for breakfast with capaciino for me along with omellete or fried eggs. Favorite place was the adult infinity pool. Excellent staff all around. Racimo at EL Bosque travel club Erick Oswaldo Angelly Marcelina evening manager Paula. The entire was friendly but we visited with these folks a lot. Took the best humpback whale excursion and saw over 15 whales. Several in the air. Saw a calf and its mom.. Lots of stairs so take your time but enjoy the beauty of this place.

Family Selection was worth the upgrade!

We travelled to the Grand Palladium Vallarta in January 2020 for a 9 night stay with our two kids, aged 4 & 6. We upgraded at the hotel, I estimate we saved about $60-70CAD by upgrading at the hotel vs online. The Family Selection is a separate hotel block with a private lounge that has a bar, limited buffet and TVs/gaming systems for the kids. The Family Concierge were useful in booking a la carte reservations and helping with guest needs, the best concierge by far was Speedy. Upon check-in we were given a list in-room of amenities to chose, everything from liquor to diapers, the list was extensive. If you were travelling with very young kids it would make things easier as they can provide crib, diapers, bottle warmer, sunscreen, the list went on and on. The Family Selection private pool was great, they provide a selection of floaties for the kids and almost everyone there had kids. The pool side liquor and food service was excellent, the lady waitress there was so fast. Our kids took advantage of the Kids Club everyday. The was a schedule posted by the drop-off area so you knew exactly what they're doing with the kids thru the day. They did crafts, went to the beach, participated in the kids nightly entertainment all with the help of the kids club staff. Especially great were Ricky, Daniela and Fernanda. Also, we really liked that the entertainment staff/kids club staff often came to the Family Selection pool in the afternoon with crafts for the kids to do. The beach was quite nice, the kids could splash in the water. The water sports hut had a good selection of boogie boards, kayaks, paddle boards and sand toys for the kids. This resort has quite a few stairs which could be difficult to navigate if you have mobility issues. Overall we found the food to be quite good, the buffet had a reasonable selection of food all of which was quite fresh. The a la cartes were good in comparison to other resorts we've stayed at. The Mexican restaurant has a beautiful sunset view if you are there to catch it around 5:40pm. Overall we found this to be a great resort for families with children and will consider going again. They really cater to the kids here and the Family Selection definitely had great perks vs a regular room.

This was a wonderful resort with great food and lots of activities including pool SUP yoga and catamaran rides in the ocean. The rooms were nice although we had to swap after the second day to a room with two beds which we needed. Neither room had sinks that drained properly and both had issues with their screen doors not sliding. The second room had AC that wouldn't work properly - it was either on full or off. The beds were very comfortable and the towels and linens were always clean and crisp. The ocean view rooms have a wonderful view but you only get the ocean view if you don't stay on the Family selection side although only the family side is allowed to dine at the Nest restaurant. Also the family side gets free access to some of the spa facilities whereas the ocean view room pay $30/day for access. There are 4 very good specialty restaurants; sushi, Italian, Mexican and a steak house with AMAZING filet mignon. Unless you opt for the Imperial Club upgrade (includes 5 reservations for a one week stay as well as slippers/robes & turn down service) then you'll be lining up a long time for dinner or stuck at the buffet every night since only the family section is allowed to make reservations for some stupid reason. The buffet does have pretty good food tho - decent selection along with more traditional Mexican food for every meal. The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and most speak fairly decent English. The spa staff hound you all over the resort to book a massage which is very annoying. They stop you when you are trying to get to the buffet and even approach you while your laying by the pool. Omg enough already. The customer service desk staff were very helpful when it came to any issues or questions we had - from dinner reservations to even calling our travel agent rep to find out where he was. It's a 25min ($640 pesos) round trip taxi ride to Walmart for the cheapest vanilla and tequila - way cheaper than duty free. You can even get an Uber if you walk up the driveway to the main road! The ocean was so warm and the waves were super fun to play in. They even had free boogie boards and paddle boards and surf boards. There are a few sections with rocks that you had to look out for but no seaweed! The best pool was the adults only pool since it was the only pool with an infinity edge with a view of the ocean. We sat in the pool and watched the humpbacks every day! It was amazing. The bartender and Armando the waiter over at the Adults only pool were amazing and will make you any drink you could possibly imagine. I tried so many new yummy slushy drinks!!! Some even had real banana! Way more options than the last place in mexico I stayed. Overall I would recommend this place - especially if you have kids. The kids pool was pretty cool with slides and spouts and buckets of water that randomly dump. But for me - I'll be opting for an adults only resort - the restrictions on the "non family section" rooms were ridiculous and made no sense since they were the rooms with ocean view.
