    The resort is beautiful! Clear beach! Spectacular food! The Miramar Buffet was excellent for breakfast and lunch! I’d like to thank Gilberto Gutierrez, Alex Ortega, Beatriz Berzunza, ! Super helpful and accommodating ! All restaurants were delicious !

    We came here last year to surprise my sister for her 60th Birthday! We had booked into a different part of the hotel and felt like we had been just moved to another part of the hotel without our consent! The room was clean but very basic! The hotel was very disappointing, set on a beautiful beach but so many things were wrong with the hotel! You had to pay for extra wifi which we were not too happy about, they kept running out of towels at the beach and then you would have to queue to get one, the lunch buffets were really busy and on one day, they just ran out of everything and it wasn't being replaced quick enough, the maid service was terrible as they never replaced the towels properly. The food in some of the restaurants was ok but nothing special! The buffet restaurants were the best bet but the A La Carte ones which I will list individually were disappointing! The best A La Carte was the Lindo Mexican, there was great food and ambience in there, the Tokyo Teppanyaki was ok, but nothing special. La Fuente Restaurant was the worst of all and we had to fight to get our money back on this one, which they did eventually give it back after a big battle. The Trattoria Italian was really disappointing and so was El Rancho. The problem we had most was that this was supposed to be an all inclusive and the house wines were the worst we have ever tasted - they obviously want you to buy off the wine list. Luckily we had a good time as it was more about my sister's birthday and we were in good company, but the hotel was a complete let down after travelling all that way! If we do come back to Mexico, we will avoid this hotel like the plague!

    Despite lots of amenities closed due to COVID pandemic and a tropical storm on our first day we were able to use some of the beach sports items by the end of the trip. Beach area at Barcelo Palace resort was not in good shape with lots of rocks (permanent) , sea weed and thin amounts of sand on majority of upper beach. Lots of pool areas to make up for beach conditions. We found some sports activities open in days after the storm. Beach by the water sports was very nice and sandy. Had a great sail ride that gave us spectacular view of the extended area. Sailing staffer, Ramon Nestor, who handled our group, was so nice and very personable. Recommend asking for him if you want sailing assistance. Dolphin show was very good but way too short. Overall food was good, restaurants great and most of staff went out of their way to be accommodating. Arcade ridiculously over priced and costs extra...hence never saw anyone use it...dumb mistake by management during tropical storm. Very long wait times checking in and out. COVID procedures strictly followed by staff.

    We arrived at the Palace section of the resort a week after it reopened post Covid-19 lock-down. From the beginning the small amount of people was a bit shocking, but the welcoming atmosphere was ever present. The resort was still kept very tidy and clean. The staff incredibly friendly and helpful as per usual. Post COVID the entire staff always wore masks, temperature checks were done every time when entering the restaurant area for breakfast, and hand sanitation stations were everywhere. Because of the government mandate the bar area had to close at 11, which was a bummer, but that wasn't the resorts choosing. Throughout the 5 day stay at the result the event and activities direction Iris Iara was on top of her game with trying to engage the slowly increasing number of visitors to participate in fun activities. Those activities ranged from sand and water volleyball, to water exercise classes, or ping pong battles. Iris was assisted by Natali Garcia and the two of them went above and beyond each and every day. In the evenings the restaurants provided a wonderful way to cap off a great day with some great food. Highly recommend the Brazilian restaurant at the Palace! We got extremely lucky with our server Alejandro Preciado who waited on us on two separate occasions. Alejandro is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the food and providing a great experience. Each one of his suggestions for a dish was a smashing success. This man deserves to manage one of these restaurants!

    Unfortunately my vacation in September of this year has been cancelled,however i would urge people lucky enough to still be going to do it this place is heaven and having been at the tropical resort last year was very much looking forward to this year but alas not to be however as soon as confirmation of cancellation came through i rebooked for next year and it can't come around quick enough as the staff(and I include all staff working in this wonderful place) make your vacation a joy so here's to next year and to all at the B.G.R.M Te veo pronto Robertm
