Disappointing

MelehaA (Baltimore, Maryland) on Apr 13, 2024

We were quite dissatisfied for our stay for a few reasons: 1. Staff was nice enough but lacked attention to detail. Eg welcome drink given to 3 of 4 of us and told they would bring the last one for the 4th one but never did. Or, offered to take our bags to our friends room who had earlier check-in eventhough it was a long walk to transfer to our room (why would anyone want this?) 2. Check in process took an inordinate amount of time- On the order of 20 minutes. Thats 20 minutes of the clerk typing on a computer. Long bac-up so had to wait to start the check in process as well. Despite long check in we were not given any information about the resort, restaurants or how to get around. 3. Very poor service. Waited extremely long amounts of time for waiter to come to take our order nearly every location we went. Took me 30-40 minutes to get coffee each day. Not very apologetic even when we brought this to their attention. 4. Concierge not helpful- repetitively told us to email them to book a cab we needed in 1 hour. Got stuck in playa late at night with boot on our rental car, they couldnt care less about our safety or helping us. Told to just ‘hail a cab’ when we were in potential danger. 5. Room had outdoor shower which was cool but there was a ~2 inch gap in the shower door that allowed communication between indoor and outdoor area— saw a couple of bugs in our room likely for this reason 6. Had mexican food at la laguna which was really not good. Local street food in Playa much better.

Could be better

adh-24364 (Bengaluru, India) on Apr 10, 2024

Either have an all inclusive resort or a regular one..not both..also the resort fee of usd 30 per person per night is a rip off..nothing short of a scam. Increase the room rates to include the "resort fees"..it's like an airline charging you to use the toilets

Overall we love this hotel and will be back next year!

Roam06700381018 (Los Angeles, California) on Apr 08, 2024

We have been to fairmont Mayakoba three years in a row and love it. It’s such a magical setting with the jungle, lagoons and beach. The casita rooms are the best. There are 7 restaurants and overall the food is good. Our one complaint is the service is REALLY slow. Like 1 hour for room service, an hour for food at the beach, 20 mins at the coffee shop, 20 mins for drinks at the tiki bar, 20 mins for the check at La Lagunas. They need more staff and to be trained to be a little more organized/faster.

Family trip in paradise

Beautiful resort that is incredibly family friendly. Kids are really welcome anywhere. A lot of dining options and well maintained pools and landscaping. Wonderful service all around but Daniel at heritage place made our trip extra special- thank you!

Great Spring Break trip

Brandon S on Apr 07, 2024

We visited during Spring Break to celebrate a birthday. The resort was a treat, with both the services and the amenities surpassing our expectations. The location did lead to us getting a few more mosquito bites than anticipated, but we did appreciate that the property provided repellent which we unfortunately did not take advantage us. Our only complaint was with an experience dining at Tauro during our final night at the resort. During our meal, the chair in which one of our family members was seated failed, which led to a significant fall by that individual. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it would have been nice to see some recompense in our final bill for the evening due to that incident. Notwithstanding the above, our stay was lovely, and we would not hesitate to recommend the property to those seeking an elevated experience on the Riveria Maya.
