Hotel service was terrible
Reviewed by darisc2021(Canada) on Jan 22, 2021
We have travelled to this hotel previously and had a decent experience so we decided to try it out again this pastFebruary. This trip however wasn’t too good. The main issue of many others was that on the day we left the resort, we left out cell phone at the main desk lobby. When we realized this, we called the resort while at the airport. The resort told us they had our phone and it was safe until we made arrangements to have it shipped to our home as we did not have time to go back to the resort. When we got home (Canada) we contacted the resort again to make the arrangements to have the phone shipped to us. Over the next few months, we have had several different people reaching out to our email address saying they got our phone. I have tried numerous times to reach the resort for them to help us out but suddenly they cannot locate our phone. We had trusted that this resort would help us out but as of today, the last email was basically “sorry for your loss” This is the service you will get from this resort. I’d be more than happy to provide any further information if anyone would like to know more Thank you Daris
Excellent complex

Went for a week and really loved the whole complex,it’s big but lots of restaurants to try. You have to book but that’s fine. Loved the beach,no seaweed when we were there. Staff were lovely. Down side was transfer, about 2hours.a long time but worth it,can’t wait to return when things are a bit more normal.
Mass tourism

If you are not an American middle class don't go there. Everything is ok but that's all. It's a big complex with a lot of room for different size of wallet. I don't understand why people go there, it's useless. Nothing is interesting. The only good point is the alcohol and the food which are free and in quantity (not quality). Even the tennis court or the football pitch are ok but not nice. Everything is average, really nothing more. If you have a choice, don't go there. Last point, you American guys who eat and drink as it's your last day on earth please calm down, life is not a food competition.
Another Fantastic Grand Bahia Principe Coba visit!
Reviewed by Beccah0206(Ohio) on Aug 21, 2020
We have been to Bahia Principe resorts a number of times now and have stayed at Coba more than once. The room was clean and sparkly on arrival and it was cleaned daily. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food in the restaurants and buffet was delicious. They have the cutest little animals called coatis. We are already planning trip 15! Thank you LBP Akumal for another wonderful week!!
Couldn't pay me to go back here! Worst hotel we've ever stayed in, HATED IT !!
Reviewed by 180fayj(Manchester, United Kingdom) on Aug 14, 2020
I genuinely can't comprehend how this hotel gets any decent reviews ? From arriving to leaving was a horrible experience never mind a holiday. Check in manic, unorganised, cases left all over the lobby, steps and road, golf buggies flying about, people pushing to get on them first, staff driving them very rude and abrupt. We were 'dumped' in the dark & rain on roadside and told our room is over there in that block. Struggled to find room then keys didn't work. Got soaked walking back to reception as so far away. Room was disgusting, it absolutely stunk of mould, fittings hanging off walls, lights hanging off, mould in most places, furniture cracked and trims split, thick black mould all over the bathroom, cracked floor tiles, plaster off ceiling/walls and far too many other things to mention !! We rang reception who said they wouldn't move us. Breakfast was by far the worst we've had in 4 - 5 star hotel, lukewarm and looked like 'leftovers' ? Couldn't walk through reception without being hounded by timeshare salesman who were so pushy it was very scary. Had a phone call in room demanding we go to reception for a gift, when we insisted the 'so called gift' should be brought to us they hung up. After speaking to another guest they told us it was a timeshare trick to get you to listen for hours then given a very hard sell. Couldn't get bookings for A La Carte restaurants. Weekends were unbearable as hotel overrun with locals who get 'cheap rates'and they all behaved appallingly and bullying people for sunbeds and pool bar stools. Pool bar areas stunk of hot bins, tiles missing everywhere with sharp edges on stools and bar edges, mould around pool cleaned and swept back into pool. Entertainment was very poor but we couldn't go anywhere else. Beach was unsightly with plastic barriers in sea. At checkout we were asked to pay approx $380 for extras in a restaurant which we hadn't been in. They couldn't tell me what this was for and we had a heated argument for about 30 minutes until a manager said we couldn't get on the bus unless we pay. I demanded to see what we had signed for and they couldn't show me as we hadn't signed anything. Eventually a TUI rep sorted it as we didn't owe anything. Spoke to people on the bus who said their room bills had loads of extras on which they hadn't incurred. Some were asked for money at check out without being shown what it was for. Other than the very poor standards, I've never felt so scared and intimidated on holiday before, it was disgusting how we were treated. I could go on and on about numerous more things but won't as I've wasted 2 weeks of my life with this place. I can honestly say this Hotel and it's staff have put us off ever returning to Mexico or using Bahia hotels ever again. It is BY FAR the worst holiday and hotel we have ever experienced.
