My husband and I came for a babymoon and had the most magical time. We stayed 5 nights and found that to be a perfect length. Resort: gorgeous! It is naturally beautiful surrounded by palm trees, vines, exotic flowers, wild life (birds, lizards, iguanas, etc.) The trees and nature along each path makes it feel secluded and rainforest vibes. Somewhat spread out too, so it never felt crowded. Beach: Absolutely beautiful! Clear blue water and white sand. Not much seaweed when we were there, especially with workers doing their best to stay on top of it throughout the day. We brought our swim goggles and were able to swim with fish and even saw a couple of sea turtles not too far out! Would recommend bringing a snorkel- the ones in the gift shop were outrageously priced. However, you're able to rent one for only a few dollars. Pools: There are 3 pools, two by the beach and one quiet pool. All are clean with beautiful views and kept at a refreshing temperature. Kind staff supplies food and drinks as we lounged (as well as a book cart and sunglass cleaning!) Food: We have been to one other resort (Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana) and did find that the food was better there, but we did thoroughly enjoy each meal we had, and oftentimes had a hard time getting hungry for the next one! Our favorite dinner restaurant was the French one. We also loved the buffet for breakfast each morning and the lunch was incredible there as well. The 24/7 cafe had great drinks and treats! Spa: Got a massage (a deep tissue one for him and a prenatal for me) that were absolutely heavenly. Activities/entertainment: There is a tennis court, ping pong table, corn hole, sand volleyball, water volleyball, etc. I did a fitness class which was fun! There was a nightly event such as a rock concert and pirate show which were decent. Our favorite event was Akumart which had local artists selling their creations and amazing local Mexican food. Excursion: We went to a Cenote and inlet with Aventura Mayas; it was one of the highlights of the trips. We were able to go cave swimming in one, swim in the outside of it after, go on a small zipline and jump off a small cliff. We swam with schools of fish in the inlet. We felt safe the whole time, it was very reasonably priced, and our resort was one of the closest, so we only shuttled for 15-20 minutes, rather than others in our vehicle who had to be on it for over an hour. Gym: Small and a bit crowded at times, but nice treadmills and clean equipment! Staff: So kind and helpful! Absolutely loved our concierge, Sergio who went above and beyond, including sending a pink "Happy 6 months" birthday cake up to our room for our baby girl. Also became friends with Gina from the event/activity staff who was so kind, fun, and outgoing. Each member truly made us feel welcome and cared for, living up to their tagline they said many times while we were there, "Welcome home." An intimate and peaceful getaway. Would love to go back sometime!

The staff was warm and welcoming. Everyone is so nice and fun to talk to. The food was great and there were so many options to choose from. We really enjoyed the fun activities that were available like salsa dancing, swimming with turtles, etc.

Overall we had an amazing experience! Pros : Our room was great. We were in building 7 near the quiet pool and loved it. The tub, toiletries, bedding, mini bar, etc couldn't have been better. Room service/turn down service was great as well. It can be easy to get lost in the beginning but we quickly learned our way. We spent most of our time at the quiet pool and had no complaints. The other pools were nice as well. Every staff member was very nice to us and eager to help in any way. Beach was beautiful and lots to see if you snorkel. Every morning there were activities to participate in. Spa is a must. The hydrotherapy circuit was nice and the massage itself was really good. The whole spa area is very beautiful. Entertainment was good. Most nights there were shows and late nights had parties at Desires. Breakfast was nice with a good selection. Cons: The resort is over an hour from the airport and that comes with challenges. Food was not as good as we had expected. Oceana was our least favorite. El Patio wasn't great considering it's Mexican food. Portofino and Himitsu were good. We didn't have a chance to eat to Bourdeaux. We also had a romantic dinner on the beach. The setting and experience was amazing but food was disappointing. We had received it for free (won a singing competition at the resort) but I would not recommend paying for it. The poolside food was terrible and service was lacking. You are required to wear casual elegance to most restaurants which we were confused by. Drinks were wildly inconsistent. We didn't have any alcoholic drinks and repeated the same virgin drink multiple times. Each time was a different flavor. These negatives are the reason why I gave it a 4/5 starts.

We had the pleasure of visiting Secret Akumal & it gets top marks from us. The service exceeds any resort we have been and we visit Mexico every year & only book luxury 5 star resorts. Starting with the beautiful decor - fountains, gardens and at night it is lit up like a fairy land. The food was excellent & if you can book the Greek restaurant - do!! The lamb shank was melt in your mouth & the prawns in tomatoes, feta & a touch of Ouzo was one of the best meal we ever had. We did Excellence Club which we loved, we were in building 5 & found it was close to everything & I would encourage you to book a romantic dinner on the beach. We can't wait to go back!!

Halfway through my week stay and LOVE it so far! Super lush grounds and vegetation, very clean every where and the staff is soooo nice! Will mention few early standouts on the Entertainment Staff: Gabrielle, Kevin, Louis and Gina all vey fun and great at making sure everyone has a good time. The wait staff in the restaurants and bar & pool area are wonderful as well. More thorough review coming after the week wraps up
