My experience at the Be live Experience Turquesa Hotel was horrible. First off to start our check-in experience was very unpleasant as the front desk staff are extremely rude. Our bus arrived after 9pm on Sunday at the hotel and our group was denied check in. We were informed by the front desk staff that we needed to print our hotel confirmation to check in. On the confirmation from the airlines, there was no mention that we needed to print anything, They refused to check us in based on our phone confirmations and requested for each group to pay $1 CUC to get internet access and email our confirmations to the front desk and then we could check in. On the first day I attempted to go to the gym. The gym times were from 9:30am -7pm. However, no one had opened the gym until after 10 am when I called and walked over to the front desk to advise them. The gym was filthy. All the machines are rusted (see pictures below)! The exercise equipments are stained with sweat from previous people using the gym. The treadmill was sticky from a lack of being cleaned and the washroom in the gym did not contain toilet paper, soap or paper towel! Do not let the pictures from the website fool you! The rooms (especially bathroom) and Gym do not look anything like the pictures. They are filthy! The room: We were only given 1 water bottle for the entire stay and was informed that we can get it refilled at the bars with tap water throughout the day. To ensure your belongings are safe, please note the hotel charges a $2 CUC charge per day to use the safe in your room. The towels that were in our room were always dirty and my sheets had blood all over them on the first night. They were changed immediately once I complained! The resort: The daytime snack bar was closed the entire week we were there as they were using it for the A La Carte as the A La Carte restaurant was closed due to construction. The snack bar near the bar was not available on Friday or Saturday night which was very disappointing. The resort only played local and Spanish music, no English songs, so a lot of ppl brought speakers and played music at the pool and it was a lot of fun! Bring your own portable speakers. The Food: Extremely disappointing. I came back with a parasite and had to take antibiotics for 3 days! The grill stations mainly served fish, pork and hamburgers. However, often the meat was undercooked and the staff did not understand you when you asked for it well done. The fish was often served still pink in the middle. We found hair in our food on 2 occasions on separate nights. We were not able to eat the rest of our meals. The A la Carte was worse than the Buffet. Stick to the Buffet option. The first night that I was sick was from the A La Carte. @aircanadavacations, this hotel needs to be rated as a 2 star on your website or not offered as an option. We met with our Air Canada Rep on the first day. Many of the guest had voiced their concerns about the bad check-in process along with unclean rooms and other problems. She disregarded our concerns and said that those were complaints that she often got regarding this hotel and there was nothing she could do. Air Canada, you need to do better! The Pros: very accessible to bus to Downtown Veradero. Beach is only a few steps off the resort. Activities offered daily at the pool. Pool Is clean. Small resort with lots of staff. Also Hotel charges an additional 8-9% than the bank & other resorts to exchange your Canadian to the CUC.

Love the animation team. Andy is a cool and fun dude, called me salsa boy. Food is ok, restaurant waiters were nice. Swimmingpool has got good entertainment. Lobby staff were correct, unfortunately there was a just married couple on honeymoon, they got no special treatment. Sad. Lobby bar should be opened earlier then 10’o-clock 8 or 9 would be nice. Had a two week holiday at this place and enjoyed it. Greetz. Salsa Boy

I had a wonderful time at Turquesa, good location, beautiful beach and very friendly staff. Especially Alejandro and Yuya from the Entertainment team made my holiday great. Every day lots of fun with dancing lessons, and games in the swimming pool. I will come back!

Grounds look nice, that where it ends. Food is not good, had potatoes not fully cooked, some food warm and greasy. Rooms are old and need of repair. Washroom by the Party Bar, toilets did not flush after they had been used, and no toilet paper plus the reviews from other people are right.

Just returned from 7 days at this resort and boy, is this place interesting. To start on a positive note, the grounds are beautifully kept - this is one area where you see the pride of the groundskeepers. The beach is clean and probably the most beautiful that I've experienced (not to the credit of the hotel, but it needs all the positives it can get.) I read reviews prior to going and so many are mixed, it was hard to determine what the reality is - but let me tell you. Check-in - horrendous. The front desk staff are inattentive, and you have to stand there for a while before they even look up from what they're doing to acknowledge you. We were waiting in what we thought was a check-in line for about 10-15 minutes before the front desk agent (Theresa) tried to turn us away and tell us to join the end of what appeared to be a second line. It wasn't until I argued with her and told her that she should have told us this (instead of leaving us waiting for so long) that she finally agreed to check us in (and became much nicer). So we check in and try to find our rooms. The grounds are so dark at night, half of the lighting is either burnt out or intentionally off (because they're an energy conserving resort, you see). The buildings are not marked at all and with the poor lighting, it took us an absurd amount of time to find our rooms. Ok, we make it to our rooms. The rooms are spacious with working A/C. The bathroom is okay, minus the mold in the bathtub. Fresh sheets were stained. Fresh towels were stained. There is one 2L bottle of water in the room, which we learned was the ONLY complimentary water you receive for ALL 7 DAYS. Guests are expected to refill their bottles with tap water at the bars or restaurant as needed. We later learned (on our last day) that they offer mini-bar packages with additional water bottles and beer/soft drinks for an additional cost, ranging from 6 to 20 CUCs depending on the package. Perhaps promote this to guests at check-in? Other points of note: The currency exchange rate at the hotel is a rip off. They are lying if they tell you they have the same rate as the bank. Their rate was 0.65 while the bank in Varadero was 0.74. We spoke to other travelers on the way back and their hotel charged 0.73 (The Royalton). So, this is an intentional rip off! Exchange your money at the International Bank in town. You get there by cab or by getting off at the 32nd Street stop on the double decker tour bus that goes to downtown Varadero. Safes are not included and they charge 4 CUCs per day TO SECURE YOUR BELONGINGS. Ridiculous. General store/souvenir shop has no variety and is overpriced. No snack options. Buffet is horrible. No variety in the 7 days we were there, random food combinations that make no sense, food under cooked, no seasoning. A la carte is no better - actually much worse. There are 3 nights - Mexican, Italian and Cuban. We saw people get up and leave in the middle of their entrees. Many we spoke to said they left and went to the buffet to finish their meals. "Snack bar" is only open 11PM until late night, and only serves burgers. Drinks are watered down with sugary juice. The beer is okay, but don't expect real drinks. I had to instruct them on how to make me a proper sangria. The gym is a joke. A tiny room with old, rusty machines that look like they have never been wiped down or sanitized. No towels, empty water cooler, no toilet paper in the washroom. Just nasty. Several scammy instances where "lottery" tickets are sold (where's the money going?), or we were asked to pay to play bingo by the pool one day but not the rest of the days of the week - all by "staff" who aren't in uniform or wearing name tags. In case you haven't already guessed - will never come back here, will never recommend. There are plenty of nicer resorts with higher service standards in Varadero. Cuba is a beautiful country and not to be judged based on the resort experience, but this place does it no justice at all.
