The overall trip here was amazing! There were a few things that were an issue. We weren’t able to switch out our beach towels everyday but that wasn't a huge deal. Our safe had an issue on the first night but it was quickly fixed. Had an AC issue and a light that was out but both were fixed quickly as well. We were also given a free bottle of rum in our room after all the issues were resolved! The beaches and pools here are absolutely gorgeous! The shows, entertainment, and disco were all very fun. All the staff were very kind, welcoming, and always had smiles on their faces. The entertainers by the pool and beach know how to get people dancing, playing games, and participating in all the activities they offer! We met a man named Victor while on the trip who was one of the entertainers and he was absolutely awesome!! If you get a chance to meet him, I’d take the time to have a conversation with him, he’s a very nice man, quite charming, and absolutely hilarious. My mom, sister, and I had a great week here together. This was my second time at this resort and I would come back again!

Beautiful hotel unfortunately everything else is bad!

Not our first time in Cuba and not our first time in Varadero! I have lots to compare this hotel to. So, we get to our room and we have a pool view like I wanted but it’s a pool we aren’t allowed to use, wrong colour arm band. Fine. We have two double beds not a queen, fine. We have an extra bed in our room so you can’t sit on the couch. I asked to have it removed and it was still there when we left a week later. The shower!! I had a hand held shower hanging in the tub because there was no bracket to mount it on...that was fun for a week! Two dirty glasses from the previous tenants sitting on the counter in the bathroom...gross! Terrible lighting! Two lights and the ceiling fan didn’t work, the air conditioning was not working for two days and it was 30+ degrees everyday! We got there late in the evening and the only food available at the 24 hr snack bar was ham and cheese on hard bread. They ran out of red wine 3 days after we got there. The a la carte restaurants didn’t have everything on the menu. The Italian only had two of the 4 pasta selections and only 2 of the 5 main selections available. The buffet served the same food at lunch and dinner. Not a wide selection of food. Other hotels offer hot dogs, hamburger, fries and pizza that were really good, not here! The buns for the burgers and hot dogs were always hard. No fries at all. The pizza was awful so don’t even try it! The buffet is like walking through a starving pack of wolves! I’ve never seen that happen before! Make sure you find out what pool you’re allowed to use! There are three pools and two are VIP pools BUT you can only use the pool dictated by the colour of your arm band. The main pool is always busy because if you meet friends or family there you can’t use there pool if it’s different from yours....weird! We got kicked out of the pool our room looked out on because we had the wrong colour band on! First time ever! It’s such a beautiful hotel but such a shame it’s so badly managed! I’ve had better experiences at a 3 1/2 star hotel and this is supposed to be a 5! Thank god the weather was awesome! At least that helped us feel better.

Ok so where to start: Firstly this resort needs to update its rating. No way this is a 4+ rating. I have done a fair bit of all inclusive resorts Cuba; Mexico Dominican Republic etc. and am aware Cuba’s ratings vary from resort to resort. The resort is an impressive building but is furnished with bagged out furniture everywhere. Some chairs did not even have any cushions on; guess they got wrecked and not replaced. The biggest problem for me was a BEACH HOTEL with no replacement of beach towels. I swam everyday in the Ocean and expected a clean towel. We stayed 2 weeks n would have only had 1 towel if it weren’t for my husband begging at the front desk or customer service for a clean set of towels every 4 days. If you surrender your towel in your room don’t expect another towel. The room maids did a poor job of cleaning. Get used to things running out like no beer today, no wine today etc. one day there was no toilet paper in the pool area. When I told the staff member she said “not today” The buffets were ok typical Cuban food but go early as they run out quickly. Yes there is a rush when they open the doors. 24 hour restaurant ran out of fries after day 3, progressively running out of pizza and pretty much everything so not sure where the 24 hours food Could be advertised. We did get some a la carts’s n they were good. The entertainment was good make sure to go. The beach and sunshine was the best part. There are free paddle boats and a 20 minute sail boat worth taking in. Internet very slow. I would not recommend this resort as needs several updates.

This is our 2nd time at this resort and both times we enjoyed ourselves extremely. Staff is very friendly and helpful. When you are on holidays you take things with a grain of salt. Not everything is perfect so the elevator does not work all the time big deal take the stairs it"s good for you. The only disappoitment we had was the water falls are gone along with the hot tub above it.Food was true to Cuban food but hey a change never hurt anyone. Drinks are not shy on alcohol and the coffee in the morning was superb. Try the spanish coffee excellent. If anyone complains it"s because they are too picky or are looking for the Ritz.

We spent two weeks at this hotel recently. The weather was wonderful. Unfortunately, the hotel towel service seemed to be inadequate for the number of guests staying there. We used the same two blue beach towels for the entire trip as there were no towels available to exchange them. We ended up buying beach towels at the hotel gift shop towards the end of our stay. Same goes for the bath towels. We were only given two bath towels, no hand towels or facecloths at all. After the first few days when we realized they were not changing the towels, we went in person to the front desk to speak to them. The day after complaining at the front desk they changed our towels once. I think we had the same sheets for two weeks as well...which is not very good at all. The hotel had chipped and broken floor tiles in the stairways and room corridors. It is unfortunate about these issues as it is such a beautiful hotel on the surface. The food was very good and the staff were all friendly. We spoke with many other guests and the sheet and towels situation was a common complaint. Also, we often did not get the spare roll of toilet paper which is always nice to have, and the floors in our room never seemed to be swept thoroughly. Several of the cabinet drawers in the room were so hard to open that we couldn’t put anything in them. We will definitely not be going back. Joan A.
