In the heart of Old Quebec, you'll find the Morrin Centre, the location of Canada's first modern prison built in 1712. The building was later converted into a college in 1862. Today, it is home to the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec and one of the world's most beautiful libraries. Guided tours are available in English or French, taking visitors through the historic building, including a trip to the jail cells and the beautiful Victorian library above. Nearby, visitors can explore the Doing Time exhibit to learn more about the lives of Canada's early prisoners and the conditions in which they lived.
