We went to the Catalonia in Tulum for the first time with some friends who have been a few times already. The resort is very clean and the staff is excellent. Miguel part of management was so accommodating and helpful we felt like privileged guests. Met so many waiters and waitresses that were great Carlos and Erik are just a few and the Mexican restaurant host. We enjoyed the wildlife and the trees and flora all around. The beach is beautiful and clean. Already planning our trip to come back. #BeCatalonia Advisor

Our family visited the hotel on December 30th we originally planned to stay until January 5th but the first night was so horrible we wanted out immediately. We complained multiple times the first night about the horrible mold smell. None of us could sleep and by the next morning we just wanted to leave. After much back and forth and wasting our time after a night with 3 kids and no sleep they finally agreed that they would refund the remainder of our stay. We asked multiple times for confirmation receipt and they refused and said it would take a couple days to process and send to us. It’s now January 9th and they still have not refunded us. We now have paid for a miserable and unsafe star to our vacation and had to pay at another place. Shame on Catalonia for taking advantage of a family just trying to enjoy their vacation. No one should be made to pay over $2,400 on a resort that we could not even stay at. We would appreciate it if Management would do the right thing and refund us.

(And dolphins) - Try the massage hut by the Privileged beach/lagoon area where the kayaks are. - Bring your snorkeling gear and reef safe sunscreen. A lot of fish in the water near the beach. If you are lucky you will be surprised by the types of fish you get to see.

difficult time to be running a resort, however, the rooms and amenities are below an acceptable standard. THis was somewhat balance by the superb service provided by all resort staff members. Additionally, the food was excellent at every restaurant.

Everything about this resort was mediocre except for the staff! I don’t know if it was due to the pandemic or not, but based on this recent visit, I would not return or visit any other Catalonia resorts. For what we paid we should have had more. Half of the resort was closed including the crepes, swim up bar, and numerous restaurants. We we were only allowed dinner reservations for half of our stay and the buffet was inedible, so for an “all inclusive” resort we spent way too much money eating offsite. At beloved I ordered eggs, sausage, and potatoes and apparently they were out of potatoes and substituted them for french fries (picture attached). There were only a few shows during our 8 day stay and they all started at 9:30pm and were filled with technical difficulties and errors. All of the daily activities were limited or didn’t even happen at all. Archery, painting, and even the bike rentals were closed. Needless to say, my kids were immediately bored. Our room flooded from poor drainage, our air conditioner would only work sporadically, and our safe locked up on us with all our valuables in it and we had to wait hours to get it fixed. The resort has no hot tubs, no adults only section, and the gym and spa were closed. The snorkeling and beach areas were nice, but very small. There is a Dreams resort right next door that had nightly dance parties, a pool foam party, and outdoor movie nights that we could see from Catalonia and all just watched in envy. The staff is the only thing going for this resort. They are all very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Unfortunately they don’t get paid well and only work there for the tips and health benefits. The resort itself is beautiful, but I don’t recommend it and will not ever return.
