We travel frequently and this hotel was below the bar in many ways. However, this was our first large family trip, so it was a cheaper price point than usual. I would expect a slight decline from our normal premium romantic getaways, but 4 star should be better. I would not stay again. Pros: Food was fine. Drinks were good. Service was very good. Non motorized water sports were a great addition. Ocean view upgrade was 100% worth it. Beach is clean and you can snorkel. Pools are warm and clean. You're on the bus route, so you can easily go downtown for $1 USD per person. Cons: They're constantly trying to sell you their loyalty program. The free $200 coupon book is virtually useless. Spa isn't luxurious at all- the jacuzzis look like they were in someones yard. Massage was just ok. AC is horrible everywhere except your room and the Italian Restaurant. Rooms are cracking and underwhelming. There's a line to eat breakfast and its HOT waiting. They allow kids into the club until 11pm and its more of a sports bar. That creates a lull between the show and bed because the lobby is too hot for a hangout. Lastly- for those of us who have to check up on work occasionally. There are no outlets anywhere except your room, so good luck with that laptop. The room only has 2 total outlets as well, so bring a charging port.

Spent our honeymoon here and I must say the resort and staff were wonderful. We originally were booked for Dreams Riviera but switched to Dreams Sands due to concerns with sargassum. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff. We booked a preferred club ocean front with balcony. Room was very clean but a little dated. Our only issue was that the bed was pretty hard. We called housekeeping and they put some padding down to soften the bed, which helped. As far as the restaurants, I really enjoyed Himitsu the best. Raul was wonderful and made sure everything was perfect. Eric from Gaucho Grill was awesome as well. We only went to the buffet for breakfast and it was ok. It was basically the same stuff every morning. The beach was beautiful the whole time we were there except for one day due to a little sargassum, but the workers did everything to keep it clean, I would definitely stay here again simply because of how accommodating and friendly the staff was. Also a major shoutout to GIBRAN in the lobby.

It was a group of six of us that went to Dreams Sands for my bachelorette party and we had an absolute blast overall. Pros: Entertainment team is great, all bars were really great with yummy strong drinks and the Asian and World Cafe restaurant were our favorite. Love the clean pool and how close the beach is. The beach is absolutely beautiful and vendors don't harass you too much at all. It was a slow season so we had absolutely no problems getting lounge chairs for our group after breakfast. The breakfast buffet was so delicious with so many choices. Our waiter, who serviced the little room overlooking the pool, knew us daily and was ready with a tray of Mimosas for us and delicious hot coffee. We also had our photoshoot on the beach with AdventurePhotos and had a blast with Wendy!! Our photos are gorgeous and she made us feel really comfortable and fun. Thank you! Cons: The overall music in the resort could use improvement, the DJ at the pool kept coming and going and interrupting with random music when people were singing along. It was very confusing. For the activity pool, there should always be a playlist of fun music playing regardless of the activity. Also the DJ at the Music Lounge... us and many other groups of people arrived at 10:30 when the DJ was supposed to start but there was still a sports game on or noone would show up and get set up until 11:30!! By that time, we were lounging for over an hour, majority of people left and we were too tired to start dancing. I'm really disappointed because the Music Lounge was one of the reasons we chose this resort. The steakhouse restaurant... I'm not sure what happened that night but we didn't receive our appetizers until 45 minutes of sitting there and main entrees were another 30 minutes after that. Totally ruined the fun vibes we had and we missed the late night hip hop show which looked amazing!

This trip I was in room #726 which has 2 double beds and balcony. As I previously stated that the balcony is nice but the chairs are very uncomfortable. This was my 2nd visit in 4 months to this property and I was not disappointed. Food is good. Service is very good and the property location is great. I would like to say that Sandy, beach server, was really great. Also Sharai was awesome. Preferred Club (PC) lounge is nice with good liquor selection. PC check-in/out was fast and efficient. Shower head needed replacement but was okay for our visit. Rooms need updating as this property is starting to show its age but is kept up very well. Beach is wonderful. Did the wave-runners at the property which were a blast. My buddy went deep sea fishing while I went scuba diving both of which were great. You really can't ask for much more then this property offers. Bottom line is I would go back to this property again, hopefully soon.

I stayed here for 6 nights in September with my boyfriend, my sister & brother in-law. This resort was absolutely amazing from the staff, the restaurants, and the scenery. The ocean was very calm and clear during our entire trip. There are no words to describe how amazing the staff is at this hotel. The entertainment at the pool was the highlight of our day, Luis Valles & Tania make the experience so memorable for everyone. Between the games at the pool, the aerobics & the dancing, we had so much fun. They all provided exceptional service, you can tell they are very passionate about their job and satisfying the customers. The bartenders at the swim-up bar were great, Roberto, Cesar & Conception are the best! They always had our drinks ready before we even had to ask for another. We went to the breakfast buffet every morning, this was our favorite. So much variety to choose from, and the food was amazing. Alberto was excellent, he was our waiter every morning. Before we even walked in, he would have our table ready with juice & coffee for us. The restaurants we went to were the Barefoot Grill, Mexican (El Patio), Italian (Portofino), and the Asian (Himitsu). The Barefoot Grill we went to every day for lunch, it was great since they always had something different. They had cheeseburgers, gyros, delicious chicken sandwiches, nachos, cheese fries, and salads. The Mexican was the only restaurant we did not enjoy. The menu options are not really authentic Mexican cuisine. They need to change up the menu, although the service was still excellent. The Italian restaurant was our favorite! We got the pasta with bolognese sauce, the lasagna, the salmon special, and the chicken sorrentino. Everything was delicious and the service was exceptional as always. The Asian restaurant was another one of our favorites. The manager Raul Cavich was very attentive to us always making sure we were satisfied during our dinner. Stephania Cancino the hostess was very friendly. The bass girl Jenifer Marin was excellent. Our waiters Noe & Jaime were helpful in recommending dishes we would enjoy, and the food was fantastic! Our cleaning lady, Isabel was great. We would always come back to clean sheets, clean towels and a nice tidy bathroom. The bell boy Alberto was great in helping to get us a taxi when we wanted to leave the resort. He also helped with the bags upon check in and check out. We will definitely be returning to Dreams in the future. We can't wait to go back just to visit the staff we made friends with. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
