The Gem of Fort Myers Beach

We stayed here for 5 nights in February for a polar vortex getaway from the Midwest. I am in hospitality and work at a 4 diamond resort in the Midwest. I know the challenges the hospitality industry has faced in the wake of COVID-19 with staffing, business levels, social distancing, etc. We had an office side efficiency with a king bed. Our room was super clean, well maintained and cheerful. You can tell the owners care very much about this property. It was also, very affordable considering we came during high season. While we did not get daily stay over service, we did request a room refresh half way through our trip and they were happy to oblige. You can request towels, garbage pick up and anything else you may need anytime during your stay. The pool was very relaxing and never overcrowded and the beach on this part of Ft. Myers Beach was exceptionally wide and beautiful. We loved the live music nightly at the Tiki Bar and enjoyed getting cocktails while we were at the pool. I paid $8.50 for a frozen mudslide but that is to be expected when staying in a resort town. Everyone was very helpful and there is a computer in the lobby to print boarding passes or anything else you may need for business purposes. Since all of the rooms have exterior doors and with the a/c on in our room it was nice and quiet. Not one disturbance from noise from other guests. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, even for my husband who usually struggles with back issues on hotel mattresses. I would stay here again for sure and appreciate the fine hospitality that this place delivers. Tip: When traveling during this unprecedented time and knowing that employees are risking their own health so that you can be on vacation, please be generous with tipping!
Enjoyed our stay at Outrigger Beach Resort

This was a long weekend getaway from the cold weather back home. We traveled with another couple. We each reserved a resort view room. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were having issues with charging our devices. The staff person was there in minutes and checked everything out. The problem was apparently in our cable. The Tiki bar was a nice place to hang out and have a drink. Coffee and tea in the morning included free refills. The beach is wide and renting a cabana was a great deal at $15 with $5 off. The rooms had recently been updated and WiFi was prevalent throughout the resort even on the beach. Definitely recommend and will likely return!
Great Resort....Friendly Staff, needs work with services

This is a great resort, it is small, but family oriented. We enjoyed it as it was so small and not like a high-rise hotel. Tiki bar was fun and out door dining with great staff. Beach is quite a walk from resort, but all white beautiful sand. Rent a cabana and enjoy your alone time. Shells galore to hunt! Rooms are updated, but not cleaned everyday due to covid. Our stove only had a couple burners that work, put trash outside to be picked up worked fine. Don't put your towels out unless you keep a few for next day. They are not replenished as promised and we had to go to office to get ours everyday. Despite calling for them. If you are on the office efficiency side, the "pool guy" comes every morning at 5:30 and parks and unloads his equipment there. Woke us up every morning and we even asked if he could not park in front of our room, but it never happened. Traffic is heavy and road construction could keep you in a long slow process to get anywhere, but if you stay and not go anywhere, this is a great little paradise for you.
Great Customer Service

I booked this hotel for a long MLK weekend. I had to cancel last minute due to a medical issue and the manager, Paula, was a great help. If I go to Fort Myers in the future, I'll book the Outrigger b/c I know that they treat their customers right.
No such thing as customer service here

I Called and reserved this room in August for December 17 through the 23rd and asked if there were free chairs at the beach to lay on and she said Yes, we have plenty of chairs to lay on. We come to Fort Myers every year to get away for the snow and cold weather. Most chairs on the beach cost $30 (for 2 chairs). 7 days times $30 is an extra $210 that I don’t have to spend if there are free chairs. We stayed at this resort b/c of the access on the beach at the free chairs. However, she forgot to mention those free chairs are tied to a tree and can’t be brought to the beach. On top of this, because of COVID they aren’t out tied to the tree at the present time. If you ask someone else who works there, they will tell you yes, we have free chairs to the beach but don’t know where they are located. Stacy said, new employees all the time, the people at the front don’t know what goes on down here at the beach. Stacy is not a customer oriented person and says “free chairs would take away the rental of cabana’s, no we don’t have free chairs. Stacy also says, take the lawn chairs next door “low key” and take those to the beach, no one will know. Great honesty at this place, steal someone else’s stuff. We go out to the beach and sit down (charge our room for chairs) and Stacy comes out and tells the people next to us that we “just want to sit our asses down for free.” My brother goes and ask to talk to a manager decision maker/person in charger someone who can help us out and Sue said she can handle our issue. She later said I will ask Gennie and see what they can do for us and Gennie would call us to discuss the issue. Gennie never called!! About the hotel itself, at check in directions said to leave towels at the front door and will be replaced in the morning. However, because of thefts we aren’t doing that anymore according to one employee. They were replaced when we put them out there. Music played every night which was great. The bar tenders at this area were very nice and talkative. Rooms nice but thin walls so you can hear a lot when you are trying to sleep. They said it was family owned but I can’t confirm that. Housekeeping supposedly doesn’t come unless you ask for a cleaning however 9 am housekeeping is knocking on the door Pool capacity says 18 but 33 in the pool. I’m sure 18 is up for city inspection but isn’t followed. A nice place over all if you like the uncertainty of rules/regulations/directions etc. The right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. A lot of excuses on why things were told but not done. Stacy thank you for helping with our decision easy if I should come back or not
