    Steady Decline over past few years. Will not be returning.

    This was my 3rd visit to this specific resort in the past 5 years. It's unfortunate to say that after this most recent time, we will not be returning. We usually travel with a group of anywhere from 6-30 people to Las Brisas. It's worth noting that a few people have been to this resort 20+ times in the last 25 years and have shared the same recent opinions as below. HOTEL CHECK-IN 1/5 12:30am was when we had arrived at the hotel from Holguin International Airport. A long day of travel for everyone in our ~30 person group. 2 front desk clerks with 5 or 6 other men to help with luggage. It took slightly over 1 hour to check in 15 couples. A few couple brought infants and were promised ground floor rooms in the villas 5 months prior to arrival. No ground floor villas available until halfway through their vacation week. Other guests were cutting our group in line to get attention and service, the clerks were rude and act as if they are doing you a huge favor with anything they do for you. Most of the baggage men get in people faces almost to the point of harassment to solicit their services to take care of hauling the baggage to your room (keep in mind 10 people did not even receive their luggage from the airport until 2 days later). No food to eat unless you wanted to visit the Snack Bar which is supposedly 24/7, one person occupying the grill and counter with no customer service skills (I don't blame him, my guess is just a product of his environment with lack of quality, option and tools). Their was only one option for food. It seemed as if it was a Raw Spam Sandwich. Unsure of what it actually was. Had one bit and couldn't eat. Other people had the same experience. ROOM 2/5 We stayed on the top floor of the hotel overlooking the pool RM 504. Beautiful view, however when we first got to our room, the balcony has 1 inch of water and cigarette ash on the tile floor. TV needs to be replaced as speakers were broken, some lights worked, some didn't. Cold water showers 6/7 nights. MAID SERVICE 5/5 After the terrible first night, our Maid was an absolute sweetheart. She made our room amazing each and every single day and fulfilled any requests of ours, (tukola (their version of coke), water, redbull, beer, etc.). FOOD - BUFFET/SNACK 1/5 The food has declined at this resort to a bare-scraping-by-minimum-requirement it seems. When we checked in as stated above, this was the case throughout the week after 8:30-9pm. You better eat before then, if not, you are SOL. Buffet was same thing everyday, Rice and Pasta stations are the best bet, not much options other that that. The Cuban restaurant by the pool's side bar is where we ate breakfast everyday. This place is the best quality food you can get on the resort (not included a la carte) (you see the resort's affiliates, locals, and workers eat here if they can.) FLIES EVERYWHERE! FOOD - A LA CARTE 3/5 The food from The Bucanaro was a 5/5, El Patio 3/5. We snuck in to El Patio with a friend of ours, however, us ourselves were only able to book one restaurant. Which was strange as we were told everything else was full. We booked on the morning after our arrival. We couldn't have booked any earlier. The two restaurants were only at half capacity when we ate. Which is strange because the seatings/booking are also 1 hour apart. BEACH 5/5 POOL/ POOL BAR ** Unfortunately I cannot give the pool bar/pool a proper rating because it was too ridiculous at some times and good at other times. Danni is amazing and we love him, he is the only reason we probably kept visiting the pool bar. Everyday there must have been 50%-70% Locals occupying the resort, mainly around the pool and bar areas. This is normally fine, however most of these families are extremely rude, persist for different and preferential treatment. GENERAL RESORT ATMOSPHERE 1/5 We saw numerous times that a line or queue did not apply to cuban locals, we saw them smoking in the pool without being told not to (however when Canadians/Russian tourists did, it was an immediate scolding). During the Pig Roast Day we saw a cuban family take a whole cake from the temporary buffet setup around the pool. Once they had it by their pool chairs they put it in a plastic bag, and it sat in the bag for hours until they left. We saw another family do the same but ordered close to 20 Sandwiches for a family of 3, only to bag it up again to take away later. It's unfortunate that we felt like a lesser guest due to some of these rules applying to us but not them. CHECK OUT/PUBLIC RELATIONS 1/5 Since we are returning guests we received what was thought to be the VIP Package, which includes late checkout for free. Especially since other people in our group that had been to the resort for the first time received a free late check out. This was not the case, we were told but the woman with short blonde hair in public relations that we needed to pay for late checkout, because you needed to visit 10 or more times to be considered "VIP". No problem I thought, maybe a misunderstanding, I will go check with the people from our group. Over half of our group received free late check out. Out of the people, no one had been a returning guest for more that 2 times. After visiting once again with public relations, I was told that it's 4 times now or more to be considered VIP (same blonde haired woman!), and that what I was explaining to the other people in public relations "could not be possible". I decided to leave the PR room due to frustration. I decided to visit them a third time, and now I am being told it's 5 times or more to be considered VIP?!?! What is the correct story? After explaining to them again, with another guest who received VIP in our group, they refused to offer any "Sorry" or wave the fee for late check-out. Come to find out after it's only 20 PESOS! How ridiculous. PR people need to have the best customer service in this resort, you are sometimes the life-line to get rid of that sour taste in people mouths. Unfortunately this was the last straw and I hate to say that Brisas has now lost 30 returning guests.

    Well what can I say !!!! Just returned home .. beautiful weather!!! That’s when it ends . Hotel is horrendous yes £2600 per couple isn’t massive amount for two weeks all inclusive!!! I get that But about £2300 to much for the place where they don’t even have water for 5 days to drink !! O unless you want tap water taste like bleach !! That’s free !!! If you take your old bottle back .. beach lovely,sea warm blizz!!! STOP loungers full of bird mess , broken , towels put on by people at 730am only to return at 1700 for 9min lol that’s many older couples !!! British .. Food what food ??? Buffet I still heave the thought of the smell in there . Bfast sprouts ,calli bacon rind ummm .. there was cheese ham breads ect looked fab all crawling in flies stank rotten even your drink of dilute orange you had to be quick I managed one day out of 14 without a fly beating me to my drink . Lunch same above Dinner same above with addition of extra pigs liver stew or rabbit skin bones !! We dared try another restaurant seafood one near beach in the complex half decent breakfast there to be fair and lovely staff members I had beef don’t eat fish when it’s fly infested wish I had. Within two hours of meal toilet every 25 min lasted almost 3 days !!! We didn’t really eat much after that genuinely I mean !! 5.3lbs lost when arrived home ..wow great all inclusive £2600 well spent! We fancied an ice cream it being over 40c and though well we paid couple grand wonder if we can get one we queued scorching eat big mistake was a Saturday !!! Cuban town!!(locals) get very cheap day passes take over .. although we next in Line to receive what looked liked melted slop in a plastic cup we waited with stomachs rubbling of hunger only to be physically pushed aside by locals who swarmed like ants being British we kept quiet and waited another 6 people (Cubans) worth to arrive our turn and the ice cream man grin say no no all gone ha !! Hilarious . I’m not knocking Cuban people I’m not I’m just telling the review how it was ! Internet great 1hour 40min wait I’m mine get voucher 1hour a pound CC that’s good !! Last 9 min lol ..not that bothered was to tell people at home how great holiday was , so ummm no rush . We did leave finally ,almost passing out with hunger , pains in stomach and actual broken lips from no water for days just cheap sweet syrup soft drink ,knowing that meal on the plane is going to be the best !!! I l I boarded the bus/transfer finally !! And smiled to the hotel knowing I had taken my moneys worth in toilet roll the last 5 days !! This is a TRUE representation of a two week stay September 2019

    Once again brilliant holiday put on bottom floor after emailed to say wanted top floor following day we were moved to the top floor and room 583 which we requested. Room cleaned every day and was spotless staff amazing once again especially Carlos and racial in 24hour bar. A big thanks to virgin for bringing us home the cabin crew were excellent. I hope someone takes this hotel on from England because if they don't I'm going to miss it. Hope to see you all again soon

    Were to start, we stayed in a villa this time, very spacious and kept very clean all!!!! The staff were lovely and helpful food was OK lots of choice every morning staff were cleaning pool beach, hotel was amazing holiday just hoping we can get back for a third time as we were with Thomas Cook, we had a fantastic day out with sergy and Miguel in a chevy best holiday yet

    Well where to start I’ve visited this hotel four times now and this experience tarnished the wonderful memories of the previous three visits . On arrival bathroom hadn’t been cleaned complained and was then kept tidy hotel weren’t really bothered . Restaurant hygiene had dramatically declined ,snack bar area tables left dirty flies everywhere pool area dirty cups all around pool. Water flies in pool and on the whole we were shocked at the decline in hotel standards since our last visit in may 2018. Staff attitudes were rude and really didn’t want to know or entertain English customers i was told to come back for internet by reception staff who said the girl was on lunch yet out three receptionist the one that serves me the previous day did not want to know . The lack of water in the hotel was poor resulting in dehydration and having to walk down to the market area where shops had supplies readily available . Paradise island which has always been a favourite was disappointing both my partner and I had upset stomached for first time ever in Cuba so did other members of our party . The room access was something else everyday we had to get our key reprogrammed and 3 times the safe didn’t work on one occasion we were told to wait in our room for maintenance to come along after an hour we were told oh they gone home now and a member of reception had to unlock our safe . Safe to say this trip is definatly our last to this hotel and what was a beautiful place lesson learnt !!!!!
