Ladies and Gentlemen.........THE JEWEL GRANDE

Deonna R on Apr 13, 2024

Welcome to the Jewel Grande!!! This is my home away from home for sure. I had the pleasure of staying here in February 16-23, 2023 during my very first trip to Jamaica. I enjoyed my stay so much that I came back for another visit for my Birthday September 3-7. My third visit was just last week April 4-9, and I didn't want to come back home. Well, I never do. The landscape, the food, the entertainment, the room and most importantly, THE SERVICE. Everything superb as always. This place is family friendly with plenty of things for the kids to do so the parents can relax and enjoy cocktails by the pool. This place is for everybody!!! YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!! YOU WIL SEE BEAUTIFUL VIEWS!!! YOU WILL ENJOY DELICIOUS FOOD!!!! My only drawback with this place is similar to another review and that is the depth of the ocean. This is also a plus for people who enjoy the water but can't really swim. The added sense of safety with the design of the ocean pool makes the waves more controlled for a more pleasurable swim. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! ITS THE ONLY PLACE I STAY WHENEVER I VISIT JAMAICA!!!! I'm looking forward to going back this fall.

I spent three days at the JG in February and I loved it so much I booked another week from April 3 - 10. After being to dozens of resorts on several Caribbean Islands, I finally found the one that ticks all my boxes. The service was over the top across the board. They really do go over and above to see that you are happy. A few things that really impressed was the fact that they do not require a dress code for their "A la carte" other than what you would expect to wear at any restaurant and you DO NOT have to stand in a line-up hoping to get reservations because reservations are available, but not required. So I ate at an "A la carte" 5 out of 7 nights without a reservation. In terms of the resort in general, it is spotless clean, the grounds are meticulously groomed and the food is excellent (be sure to try each A la carte at least once!). Another box that was ticked is the fact that there are plenty of beach chairs so you don't have to go out early in the am to spread your towels around. The only slight negative is that the beach is not deep so you will only get up past your waist, but that's not a reason for me not to go back. The entertainment is really top notch. We stayed in an Oceanview Junior suite in building C and it was prefect. Check this place out for yourself!

Nice but not amazing

Lovely hotel but it’s not 5 star Pro’s: Very friendly staff who try their best Great food for an all inclusive Safe and clean Great kids club Pool was warm Con’s Quality of drinks are poor. This is the ingredients rather than the bar staff. Lifts, WiFi and TV’s do not always work Hotel is warn and needs updating. The hotel is fine but it’s a 3/4 star My children loved the kids club but complained the pool was dirty. You have to be up and get sun loungers by the pool by 7am or they have all gone. Staff try their best

Nice but bring everything you need.

Pros: Beautiful views, nice beach and pool areas. Food good and often great. Reservations required if you eat after 7 pm unless you want to go to open buffet. Nightly entertainment with activities for all ages. Mineral pool in spa had broken tiles and jets but was free. Gym nice with 2 ellipticals and weights, treadmills, etc. In suite washer dryer but no products (sold at gift shop - bring your own). 2 bedrooms have a butler (wonderful but I did not have one in a smaller room). Paid excursions table in lobby and easy to book. Hotel transfers booked along with hotel but are extra - not exactly punctual but felt safe and had no problems. Rollaway beds nice but make sure you have extra linens because they only come with a sheet. Fold-out beds are for small children, not teenagers b/c they are small and mattress is 1-2 inches thick. Cons: Housekeeping (chewed gum on my nightstand, food on floor, no extra linens or towels, no hairdryer (brought upon request hours later), shower products poor quality (recommend you bring your own). Poor communication re: day's free events (I did not know until day I was leaving). Much confusion day of check-in. I was traveling with several other parties and 2/3 of us were put in rooms we did not book for the first night and then had to switch (big hassle) the next day. I was put in a romance suite with my teenage son. Not ideal with a glass shower etc. Rooms very cold with AC on all the time. You can adjust temperature but fan on all the time so feels cold. Other guests moved because of bugs in original room - just a lot of switching which takes time and does not allow you to fully relax and start your vacation. Other guests complained of lukewarm showers but mine was hot. No need to bring pool towels, plenty on site. Overall, recommend you bring everything you need and demand as much as is politely possible to be put in the room you booked on the first day and make sure you have everything you need before you start your vacation, or else it will not be there when you need it. My room phone did not work so I had to walk down to reception a building away, wait in line, and ask for anything I needed. I also did not know where anything was so a tour or somehow familiarizing yourself with the resort is a good first step. Also bring a lot of 1$ US bills to tip. I did not usually tip b/c I did not have much cash on me but many people did. I would have enjoyed myself more if I had been more prepared and spoken up at the beginning of the trip.

Fraudulent Company

Ag5080 on Apr 06, 2024

Buyers beware. I had booked a trip and cancelled within the appropriate time. I received an email stating I will receive my money back in 7 business days. When I didn't get my money back in the appropriate time I emailed to no response. I never got my money and had to open a dispute with my credit card company who is also not getting a response.
