Amazing, relaxing Paradise

Lynda W on Apr 13, 2024

Travelled with my daughter and her husband. This trip was a Christmas present to myself and my husband.from them The resort is a tropical paradise with winding paths and flowers and palms everywhere. There are a lot of cats there cared for by the owners. They keep the rodent population and lizards away so that is fine by me. We were told they are well fed, vet checked, de-wormed and get their shots. The males have been spayed so their ear is slightly clipped to show that. Because of mobility issues for me, we were assigned room 1125....directly across from the buffet. It did take a couple days for us to get used to the noise in the very early morning of carts and dishes...but weighing the pros and cons for us to get around easily it was fine by us. We could sit on our patio and listen to the entertainment and have our drinks. I took two large packages of Friskies treats ( I had read about the cats) and had at least 6 feline friends on our porch all week. The hotel arranged for me to get a scooter from a man offsite and it was terrific for me to go the the beach where we went regularly and to get to the other restaurants. Went to Feathers one evening for an amazing meal and spent lots of time having lunch over at the swim up bar. We had a full week of sun, 31 degrees,,,,baked on the beach and swam in the warm ocean every day. Beautiful vacation gone too fast. All of the personnel were amazing. Very friendly, helpful and always happy. We have been home now for 3 days, If I could ...I would go back in a heartbeat. Even the long bus ride from the airport was enjoyable and fun driving on the opposite side of the road to what we were used to. Love Jamaica and loved Couples Swept Away

Great 30th Anniversary !

825AlanH (Fredericton, Canada) on Apr 12, 2024

We have been to Swept Away 3 or 4 times and decided this was the place to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. I would give the resort a 9.5 rating out of 10. Rooms and cleaning of rooms were perfect. Tennis and Yoga for my wife was just perfect, she played twice a day and yoga once a day. Food at all the restaurants and service were very good. Only minor complaint would be the cleanliness of beach floaties never being cleaned and we were a little disappointed at the Piano Bar as we went there twice and both times he spent most of the time asking people where they were from or just chatting. Great place ! I am not going to point out any staff as they all work hard and were all friendly and helpful.

Good family trip

331debrae (Tronto) on Apr 11, 2024

This was our second time at Swept Away ( and we went to Couples Negril before2017-2018 ). We took our parents and my mom had mobility issues so I wanted a resort I knew the layout for. Sadly I will say it has gone downhill quite a bit. The resort seems under staffed. But unlike other comments, all the staff were lovely and welcoming. The horrible dinner reservation system ( coupled with the cycling closures of the restaurants) made it impossible to get more than two dinners in- 1 time at each Feathers and Lemongrass. That is frustrating when we picked the resort be we remembered the dining to be excellent. I will say all the food we did have was quite good. Their jerk is the best I ever had. Please fix the dumb reservation system. I hate it when hotels think you want to spend your vacation running back and forth to the lobby trying to book things only to be constantly frustrated. The whole hotel and restaurants are open air so not for those who need air conditioning. I normally don’t care , but with my mom and her COPD it was an issue for hot hot nights. We managed and luckily we had such beautiful weather all week. We also rented a mobility scooter from an external source through the front desk and that helped. The beach was terrific, the drinks are great and the people lovely. We upgraded to atrium suites and it was nice with a big patio. The bon fire night with the singer on Wednesday ( Moses ? ) was amazing!!! Miss T ( Tuesday singer at Aura) was not our cup of tea, which was disappointing on our last night. I would suggest have a jerk grill going on the beach - add in some events- it seemed to be very basic with nothing going on. They don’t have any room service ( only fruit / yogurt for breakfast if you fill out the card the night before ) so be aware of that’s your style. We did enjoy the spectacular beach so it wasn’t too much of an issue but the pools were not clean at all. Again maybe due to being short staffed. All in all , a wonderful spot. Just not a full 5star nor luxury AI. But a nice quiet vibe with stunning landscapes. Great for cat lovers- there are 10 or so on property and they are cared for and fed by the resort. They keep the rodents and lizards at bay. Even though it was our third time at Couples , and I tied our rewards account to our reservation, we did not get invited to the repeat dinner or any rewards perks. I was ok with that as we wanted to spend the time with our parents. We had a great week and I return to Jamaica because I love it so much. Shout out to Shania - what a sweetheart she was.

Couples Swept Away

Geoff G (Ottawa, Canada) on Apr 08, 2024

We just returned from our third consecutive yearly trip to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. I am going to keep my review pretty short and sweet. The Pros: The beach 10/10, the food 8/10, the room 8/10, and the weather 10/10. The Cons: Unfortunately, the service this time around was VERY poor! There were many times when it seemed like the resort was grossly understaffed. For the most part, many of the people who were working the bars and restaurants were at best disinterested, and at worst rude and disrespectful. This was new territory for us as the service on previous trips was top notch. There was no vibe, no banter and it diminished our enjoyment significantly. Of course, in 9 days of really bad service, there were still some bright lights who restored our faith in the property and I will give them a shout out here. Beach service and beach bar.....Davian, Akeem, Javian and Sally Mon. In Feathers, Ocea. In Lemongrass, Princess and Dahlia. In the coffee shop Tanisha and at the front desk Rahji. We will go back to this property again next year as we love it and any place can have a down year. Our sincere hope is that management hires and properly trains enough good staff to make it fun again!

Service

Sherry W on Apr 08, 2024

3rd visit and service was lacking this time, especially over Easter. We saw a water sports employee getting a “special” massage in plain view. The beach area was not cleared of dirty dishes or towels and chairs were not straightened over the weekend and a manager needs to be there on weekends. The other days were perfect! The vendors came too close this time. Having said that, check in and check out were seamless, housekeeping was great, we loved the new coffee bar with Tanisha, Rahje(sp?) at the concierge desk was a bright spot in our mornings, Sally, Carson, Princess, Davion, Javion were all great. We did a day at CN and I wish the shuttle left earlier in the morning so we could get chairs in the shade. There needs to be more water filling stations to fill reusable cups at CSA. We will definitely be going back again next year for visit # 4!
