Amazing Place! Amazing People!

Whenever i mention Jamaica as my favorite island out of all the Caribbean. People always tell me they thought it was a dangerous island but that couldn't be any further from the truth. My first experience on the island, naïve 18 yr old Canadian that thought he could ride a rental motor scooter but fortunately they were sold out of the little scooters, they only had motor bikes, gee whiz how disappointing, (not) they also gave me more bad news telling me if i was capable of riding it they would give me the bike at the same rate as the mini scooters. When he came around the corner from the side of his shop with a Yamaha RZ I just about let one go right then and there. Happy dance. had no plan, just knew I had t be in Montego in two weeks... I blew that flight, didn't even attempt to get it.. I thought i had enough money to another two weeks but i ended up staying on the island for two and a half months.. Family had put out a missing persons poster i every police station, airport etc. I was in trouble one day through a massive storm, this man in a beat up Toyota taxi stopped and waved me over to him. As it turned out, with his advice I avoided some of the typical scams and sticky situations with the locals.. You have to go looking for danger to find it. He stopped me from continuing up the mountain outside of Ochi .. Had I not been stopped I was told quite seriously that the armed guards on duty would not have asked me what, where, who and why, they would have just shot me and dug a hole in the pot fields, never to be seen again. Needless to say I never went anywhere he circled on my map. Then, and I would just carry on.NOPE! His wife invited me into their home for dinner and a safe place to sleep, never asking for any kind of payment, they fed me and gave me some good advice in the morning so the rest of my journey which turned out to be invaluable advice. Mum and sisters were not very happy to hear from me when i returned 71 days later as dark as any white man could be but it was not very considerate a far cry from the two weeks I had planned for...
Paradise in Negril

We visited in January 2020, and took too long to write this review. This is a basic, small resort with a 5 star location. No luxury here, but who needs luxury when you have beautiful cliffs, ocean and spectacular sunsets a few feet from your room! Limited food choices for all inclusive, but eating by moon light at cliff’s edge more than makes up for it. Quiet and peaceful location. Loved the free shuttle to Legends and Seven Mile beach. Felt very safe and welcomed here. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms are outdated, but for amount of time you’re inside, it doesn’t matter. Keep looking at the beautiful pictures of Samsara and Legends and want to go back! If you love the ocean and want an authentic Jamaican experience, stay here. Been to many places around the world and this was one of the best for overall experience. Feels like home in Jamaica.

First let me start off by saying this was our fouth trip to Samsara and this is only my second review. When you don’t have a thing to worry about, you forget to do a review. We have stayed Garden side, Oceanview, and pillar house three times. From the first time we came here as a couple four years ago on our honeymoon, Samsara and it’s staff, has made this hotel feel like a second home. Samsara has great views of the ocean and great snorkelling. They also have quiet sunlit cottages where you can swing in your hammock all day. Free shuttle as others have mentioned daily to sister property on 7 Mile. Cleanliness is never an issues, and the resort grounds crew and maintenance - George and Marvin take great care in their work. Meals have always been genuine home cooking, however we often support other restaurants and venture out and about. Lots of exterior upgrades in the last few years, continue to upkeep, unlike some smaller hotels. Peter and Omar, two guys you want with you on the street! Omar will take you anywhere safely, and Peter is there every time you cross or have a question. Front desk staff are always pleasant to speak with, checking in and out is never a problem. Owayne was a bartender for 3 years previously, and first made us feel welcome at Samsara. Only have view pictures, because that’s what you’re there for! 5 stars, this time, and the last 3!

It was our first trip to Jamaica, but we are already booked to go back this summer. The food is delicious and the scenery fantastic. We enjoyed snorkeling and cliff diving. We met other couples from all over the world. As amazing as it all was, my favorite thing about it was the people that work there. They genuinely want you to have a wonderful vacation. So friendly and helpful.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Samsara Cliff Resort. We enjoyed the quiet, small setting . Staff were really friendly and we felt safe. The room was great - ocean view and a king size bed. The shuttle to Legends was great way to get over to the beach. We were able to walk to other restaurants from Samsara and Legends. We used the tennis court, and I enjoyed diving off the cliffs.
