Westgate New York Grand Central

Once we had got our room sorted out staff were very helpful and our room was newly refurbished so was lovely. In a great location to travel to the hotspots then come back to peace and relaxation.Unfortunately there was work going on across the road but we were out most days early and home quite late so wasn't too intrusive.

This was very nearly our worst ever hotel experience. We arrived during the evening after travelling for over 24 hours to to be told that our booked room was not in fact confirmed and therefore we had no room. We had our booking confirmation but it appeared that the booking agent had not confirmed with the hotel. We lost most of the evening trying to get it sorted out and we ended up paying for a room and missing most of our evening in New York. In the morning it was sorted out and our payment refunded. It would have been much easier to allocate the room to us on arrival and sort the issue out in the morning, after all the hotel would have our card details swiped as part of the normal check-in proigress. It was a very disapponting experience that could have been handled much better. This was a pity as, otherwise, the hotel was very nice and well located.

This is not a four star hotel. The lobby is under major construction. There is no restaurant, no room service, no minibar. There is a sign pointing to a $28 breakfast, an extravagant price even in NYC. While the concierge and doormen are generally friendly (they rely on tips of course), the front desk staff is not. My room, however, was clean. The prices appear to have come down over the past two weeks. Not sure if this is because the hotel recognizes it is not a four star establishment or because of Covid-19.

In January my friends and I planned a girl’s trip to NYC. Our weekend target date was 2/14-2/17. The availability of hotel rooms were limited because this was a holiday. Since I’m a member of Westgate Travel, I gave them a call. To my surprise they have a property located in NYC. Immediately I reserved our rooms and obtained the direct number to the property. I called to discuss our plans and although they didn’t have a concierge service, the staff was very helpful. During our drive to the hotel our driver mentioned we were staying in a safe location in NY. It was within walking distance of the United Nations and Grand Central Station. The staff made our stay pleasant. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Lovely Hotel and well located. Reception was welcoming and helpful. Great sized rooms and bathrooms (with bath) that were clean. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast bar was adequate - can use your $20 easily. Food quality good. Starbucks coffee on site was an added bonus. Overall it was a pleasant experience. We had no issues or problems and that always makes the stay so much easier.
