A first rate property with one thing that needs improvement

We stayed 2 nights in room 5069. This is a 7floor hotel with most rooms surrounding a large atrium. The room had a very large balcony facing the pool. On the good side there was a great view of the property and off in the distance the mountains The negative side had some noise from people playing in the pool, but not a big issue. Our room had a fridge, safe, 4 drawer chest, phone, desk/chair, tea maker, huge flat screen TV and two beds. Beds were really comfortable. The charging plugs were adequate and we had no trouble getting wifi. Although the hotel appeared old in some respects, the room condition was excellent. There are 4 elevators and all of them worked properly. Restaurants were also top notch in the hotel. Breakfast in the Cava Restaurant was excellent. The Renaissance is colocated with other high ranked resorts and ours had free or valet parking. The one feature that really needs to be addressed: noise from outside the room coming from people talking in the hall; but in particular, on Saturday night we could hear a singer in the lobby bar. It was irritating; so much so that I complained and the hotel provided us a $60 credit. The problem centers around the large gaps under the room doors allowing sound from outside the room to filter in. This could have been corrected during the design phase but if you are trying sleep (especially early), it can be a challenge. Most lower rated hotels have loud a/c units but the one in the Renaissance is quiet so it does not good in helping to muffle noise. PLEASE FIX THIS NOISE ISSUE! The staff told me I was not the first to complain about it. Otherwise this is a great property and I highly recommend it.

We spent 5 nights here. Check in was quick, received help up to the room, staff very friendly and helpful. We were there in a large group trip and experienced excellent appetizer receptions, delicious food at our banquet...servers were extremely attentive. Room service was very good, the pool area was clean and unfortunately not used as much as could have been due to slightly below normal temperatures. Days when the full sun was out were wonderful. Two hot tubs are available as well as a small sandy beach where children could play in and build with sand. Service by the pool was quite prompt and the food was very good.Cocktail drinks were 14.00 each, a little pricey. Overall, a lovely stay with lots of seating around the pool and sitting areas with gas fired fire pits which was great on the cool evenings.

Pleasant stay - not quite perfect.

First off, the staff that we encountered during our stay were all wonderful. Very friendly, helpful, and overall welcoming. Our room was ready when we arrived. We were on the 7th floor in a spacious corner room with decent views of the mountains and the golf course. Large windows and slider gave the room lots of natural light. The Juliet balcony allowed photo taking of the sunset and of the mountains. Plantation shutters kept out the bright sun. The furnishings were OK. The throw pillows were a bit odd. Nice to have TWO closets - one for each of our suitcases to be on a stand. The bathroom was large - with a commode room. The shower curtain was a tad short, so you had to pay attention that it was set just so as to not over spray onto the flooring. Double sinks were nice. But, having towel bars only at one end made it a bit of a pain if you used the sink further away. Make-up mirror was appreciated. As was a full length mirror. Towels were acceptable, nothing special. There was a robe available too. Nice to have double toilet paper holders. The flat screen TV was HUGE. But, it was not on a swivel and made it a bit annoying if you wanted to watch from the bed (the "sofa" was more a love seat sized chaise - not comfy for watching TV). Having a small fridge was also a nice touch. The work desk area was large enough. Internet service was decent. Plenty of outlets were available. Ironing board was subpar. It needed a new padded cover. Room safe was part of the entertainment center above the small fridge. We did not need to use it. The bed was comfortable enough. The room thermostat wanted to keep the room a toasty 72 - didn't seem to change much unless we set it below 68. But, overall, it was comfortable. Pillows were average. The grounds overall are beautiful - if a bit dated. Part of the charm of the Palm Springs area. Unfortunately, there were issues with things like wall repairs that had not had the paint touched up, chipped paint here and there. The fitness area was well represented with many different machines and options. Twice I visited and I was the only person there. They also offered classes, but we did not try any of them. The pool area is expansive and has a sandy beach area. Plenty of seating. They have quite a few conversation areas to use also some with fire pits, some more private. Cabanas also. Ping pong and foosball tables were readily available. Water features and a rose garden added to the pleasant ambiance. They have a day camp for children and a spa on property. We did not use these options. The atrium area has a large water feature, grand double staircase, a decent bar (the bartenders were friendly and quick when sitting at the bar, service was a bit slower if sitting at a table). Food at the CAVA (the main restaurant on-site) was hit and miss. We went once for a late lunch - the Baja Surf and Turf burger was excellent! Service was quick and staff was pleasant and friendly. We had breakfast there 2 of our 3 mornings. The first day our meals were exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection. The second day, not quite as good. Still decent, but the bacon was a little undercooked and greasy, potatoes were a little underdone and the toast was just warm bread, not toasted at all. We opted to pass on the buffet, it seemed a bit pricey and we aren't the sort to eat a HUGE amount for breakfast. We opted to do a light dinner at GLO lounge. I highly suggest the salad with the dates and almonds. Very tasty! And the Waygu Sliders are not to be missed. We walked across the parking lot to the Indian Wells Golf Course clubhouse for dinner on Wednesday - they have a great happy hour special! Excellent burger and brew (or wine) for $13. It was delicious! Busy, but our wait was only about 10 minutes. Service was great and sitting outside was pleasant with the patio heaters. Less noisy than inside. Tried the lemon blueberry scone and the berry danish at Cafe Biscotti. Both were yummy. Go after 12, and those baked goodies are $1 each! Too bad they close so early - we wanted to try their gelato - but closed after 4 PM, they need to extend those hours a bit! The gift shop carries a wide variety of snacks and such and a nice range of hotel gift shop items. Albeit, a little pricey, but not having to leave the property was nice. Overall, we had a nice time here. Convention facilities were nice. Staff made our stay pleasant. Any concerns were handled quickly and with a smile. We would stay here again.

The resort was beautiful, the pool was large and super clean, the food was delicious and the service was great... I have zero complaints. One of my favorite things was the narrow deck outside the fitness center. It was perfect for weighted lunges, kettlebell swings, and farmers carries. And the fitness center had everything I needed to put together a good workout.

We arrived on a Friday, and were delighted by the efficiency of the warm welcome. It only got better from here! Our room was spacious and comfortable, the ample closet was accessible from the large double-sinked bathroom AND the bedroom! Our view was gorgeous, the mountains were majestic, the lake and desert breathtaking. Loved the heated pool and jacuzzisi! Marcus, our waiter, at the sushi restaurant Glo, was WONDERFUL! Articulate, knowledgeable, personable, he was us sightseeing advice and was simply charming! The gym is also terrific, from treadmills to rower, to TRX and weights. It met all my needs. Loved the locker room as well. BOOK! TODAY!
