We only had one night at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale but I wish it had been more than one night. Everything was perfect. We were there on a Tuesday and during this pandemic, so we felt like we almost had the whole place to ourselves. We appreciated so much that we were able to check in early to enjoy this resort and its beautiful pools to the fullest. This is probably one of the best resorts I've been to in the US. The pools and water slide were a lot of fun and I was impressed by the makeshift beach area at the one pool. It was really clever and I had never seen anything like this before. This is my second time staying at a Hyatt Regency and it didn't disappoint. The quality of sleep in the room was great - nice and dark, great air conditioning, and not a loud thermostat. The room was spacious and we had a nice balcony with a view of the lagoon. I miss it already!! I can't even think of one negative to say.

Because this is Off-Season for tourism and High-season for Covid-19 that factors into this review. Covid-wise everyone (staff and guests) wore masks everywhere in the Hotel and on the grounds as well. The only exception was poolside where no one wore masks, even sitting in their chairs. The resort is only moderately crowded during the weekend but during the week maybe there were 10 cars parked? But because of the lack of people and mask wearing, we felt generally safe Covid-wise There are some "permanent" closures such as the main dining room and Sushi bar. But other amenities such as the shops, on site grocery, and adult pool bar are only open on weekends. Also room cleaning is very limited to once every 4 days. Resort wise this is a massive resort in an ideal Scottsdale location. It seemed everywhere we went we were only 10-15 min away. The pool areas are large and accommodating. Only issue is... when you look at the physical structures many are old and falling apart from age. The pavement stones are wearing away and lots of gravel sticks to your feet. There is food/drink service at the main pool. Room wise it is average. Newer larger TV's but other areas (such as beds and bedding) were "just ok" -nothing to write home about. Most of the larger resort doors were open all week so it had a very nice open feel to the lobby and sitting areas. The resort itself was extremely clean and well maintained, Beautify SW cactus and shrub decor. Only complaint --- Front Desk staff was limited. Checking out Sat there was only one attendant. They were on the phone while the line had to wait... and wait.. I know the season but weekends were crowded and deserved much more Front Desk attention.

Once you add in resort fee and taxes my stay was ~ $300 night. The resort lobby and rooms show their age and are not impressive. It is a very family friendly and LOTS of kids due to the water slide so if you are looking for that type of stay it may work for you. The service was very very slow at breakfast and we did not see people actively cleaning high Touch point areas of the hotel. There are sanitizer stations in many areas but i would have liked to see active cleaning of high traffic areas. The bed is very comfortable but I was expecting more updated amenities and in hindsight would stay at the Fairmont for the similar price.

My husband and I just stayed at the Andaz as part of our Honeymoon and were unbelievably disappointed. It was to be our place for rest and relaxation after visiting a dude ranch. When booking the resort online it looked upscale and relaxing with private villas instead of a normal hotel setup and we even decided to book a room in the more exclusive resort section "The Retreat," for a little added luxury. When we got to the hotel we felt as if we stumbled were on spring break in mid September. We went to our room hoping it would be a private oasis but it had hair in the shower, our sink didn't drain properly, there was a dead beetle under a chair, and it turned out the location was terrible. Our room was right next to the pool that was reserved for "retreat guests". It was so small and crowded that we had to go to the spa pool which kind of defeated the purpose. It was also SO LOUD that it was hard falling asleep with all people screaming and singing so we were woken up continuously until I had to call the front desk. At 12 am the phone rang from a mis-transferred call. We also noticed random charges added to our bill when we tried to check out online. We tried using the room phone to inquire what they were. The person could not tell us so we had to go to the front desk and ask, where they informed us that it was T-shirts; which we never purchased. If your looking for rest, relaxation, and luxury go elsewhere; the Andaz was sub par at best.

Wait until post Covid-19 to visit. Most of what you like at this hotel is closed. Restaurants largely are closed. No room service. I stayed 4 days but that is not long enough to get housekeeping to clean. Apparently I needed to stay 5 or more days to get fresh towels or the trash to be empty. The only signs of other people were kids yelling and running down the hallways in the early morning. I saw few people. Save your money and go in 2021.
