DO NOT GO! Do not ignore the bad reviews.

KDWilli (Portland, Oregon) on Apr 14, 2024

If you read only 1 review read this one- AND DONT GO. I’m gonna use bullet points to just get to the point. -we left the resort after 4 hours -our room (swim up) and privileged was absolutely mildew ridden beyond imagination, unhealthy and likely mold ridden. The smell choked you when you walked in. -the water was turned off to our room because of leak in our building -ongoing leak issues clearly happening - leading to damage to room walls and floors and water -water damage that had been painted over to hide ongoing issues and likely the reason for horrible mildew smell -horrible food- dinner buffet was so unappealing, and not good tasting. -drinks are weak and overly sugary using cheap mixers - hardly anyone speaks English which make it difficult to communicate at all. Only front desk staff speak English -the plates and cups at buffet were dirty, left over food and finger prints on glasses - overcrowded beyond comfort -drunk people/party people/loud at 11PM. - culture of hotel is young party environment - hotel grounds are nice but do not offset the issues -hotel is massive and you have to walk walk walk everywhere - this is the most disappointing resort I have ever been to, absolutely horrible. Don’t let the positive reviews fool you. -YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED- and you will wish for better in different ways. We left to the closest resort at 11:30pm to literally escape. Horrible

Best hotel ever!

The hotel is incredible, the restaurants and the rooms. But Matthew feenando is the best entertainer very hard working and funny. Very large selection of daytime activities. Lots of animals in the resort and lots of opportunities for great pictures.

The hotel is amazing. The pool is perfect. My fav restaurant is locanda. Fernando is really helpful and professional at volleyball. When I am back in Mexico, I will definitely come back to ocean riviera paradise and I am sure I will have the same good experience.

The good far outweighs the bad

NatalieSW1994 (Liverpool, United Kingdom) on Apr 11, 2024

I read a lot of mixed reviews before going and that is why my review is titled the good far outweighs the bad, don’t let any negative reviews put you off this hotel is amazing & I would definitely return. We traveled as a family with young children, we stayed in the Daisy block, the rooms were lovely, large jacuzzi bath, large shower, comfy beds. The hairdryer in the bathroom is of good quality so no need to bring your own. They have a steam iron instead of a normal iron, this worked ok but I’d prefer a small iron and iron board. The Daisy block is right next to the Daisy pool, which has a amazing slide pool zone, the kids loved this (no adults are allowed on the slides) on the first day they tried to tell my 3 year old he wasn’t allowed on, but he ignored them and went up with his big sister and they didn’t mention it again.. The slides are quite slow, they could do with extra water power, but I suppose is was safer them being slower so the kids aren’t all crashing into eachother at speed. The Eden pool was nice too but got abit rowdy for kids in the late afternoon, great for adults. The beach pool was lovely, towel spaces started filling up by 8am, but it was Easter week so the hotel was busy. The beach, if you walk abit further down it is lovely, I can see how some reviews say there is no beach as sometimes the tide is all the way in and therefore there is no beach. You can pay to do water sports on the beach - jet skis (85 dollars for 30 minutes) There are lots of activities on at the hotel, foam parties for kids, jet skis in the pool for kids, treasure hunts, bouncy castles, Easter egg hunt, pool games. The evening shows were really good, the theatre is brilliant, my kids loved loved loved the Disney show. The buffet food was of decent quality, there is something for everyone. The steak house & the Japanese restaurant were both delicious, I would highly recommend booking into both. The steakhouse can be booked via the app, to book the Japanese restaurant you have to queue (outside the buffet restaurant) to book in person, from 8:30 but people started queuing from 8am. We paid extra to attend the Easter picnic event, which was amazing!! This was a Easter special event however If they offer anything similar during your stay it’s worth paying the extra! They set up little teepees on the beach for the kids, the Easter bunny was there all evening interacting with the kids & did a egg hunt with them, they did a Easter egg smash, Disney songs on all evening for the kids, the set up was beautiful. The shop on site is a rip off 10 dollars for a bag of crisps that would cost £2. We went into town and they cost half the price 5 dollars. The staff were mostly all lovely, Alberto in the buffet restaurant was always so lovely! There was one occasion we ordered drinks and they never came, we asked again and they still didn’t bring them. I would highly recommend booking xcaret both my 3 & 6 year old loved it. I’d also recommend booking Xplor for older children, my 6 year old loved this, my 3 year old didn’t do this one as he’s too young. The hotel has coati’s everywhere, so cute the kids loved seeing them. They also have spider monkeys, which were in the trees right next to the Daisy pool, this was amazing for the kids to see on our morning walks, The best time to see the monkeys was in the mornings (before 9am) they rarely came out in the afternoons, presumably it’s too hot for them. Another negative I have is that after being in the Daisy pools the following day our costumes would smell, (not of chlorine) I could only put this down to the pool not having enough chlorine or having no chlorine? It didn’t happen after the Eden pool.
