I have been here multiple times, and it never fails. Even during the pandemic ?? they were very clean with sanitizer everywhere and we felt very safe with masks and hand washing stations. Some of the restaurants were closed due to covid, but the entertainment (Renee) was as always amazing!!!! Renee made sure we had fun and made my 50 year old husband feel like he was in his 20s playing volleyball again!!! But we did learn something new Renee is a sore loser ???? LOL. Would come back again! Thank you Renee and Catalonia

    The best person!

We booked two rooms to visit here in May. The holiday got cancelled due to the pandemic. We were offered a credit which reduces if we don’t use this year. We declined the offer because we wanted to claim back from our insurance. All we need is an email confirming the holiday was cancelled and we declined their offer of a credit. They are refusing to confirm this and 8 months down the line we have now lost £3000 because our insurance won’t pay without this confirmation. The hotel lose no money by sending us that email. They have deleted comments we wrote on Instagram because they we’re ignoring all other forms of contact from us. Not great service during a pandemic.

The staff were making the best of difficult situation. They all were wearing masks, many hand and shoe sanitizing stations through out resort. Pools were well kept very clean. Bartenders at the Pure Bar were great. The entire time I was there staff were making repairs to grounds, buildings, and rooms, all because of previous hurricanes. The resort does need to pay closer attention to numbers allowed in restaurants and how many people were allowed to congregate at swim up bars. Also the number of locals allowed to purchase day and weekend passes. Beach area is in need of repair but still is usable.

I returned to this resort because of the pleasant experience we had back in May of 2018. They have endured a couple of back to back storms along the Riviera Maya and it shows. They are working to clean things up and the resort seemed to be in pretty good order. We had a water view room on the 3rd floor of building 7. We booked a Privileged Superior Ocean View. The room was clean and comfortable. The only note here is that usually the refrigerator is stocked, they have robes hanging in the closet, and the toiletries are stocked. Had to call the front desk to get house keeping to come and take care of the missing setup. If you need something at Catalonia best to speak with the guest services representative as she gets things taken care of. Beatriz cares about your experience and is there to ensure you are satisfied! All the staff are friendly and helpful. There were five speciality restaurants operating, Italian, Mexican, seafood, steakhouse and Tapas. The only one that disappointed us this time was the Tapas. We really enjoyed it during our previous stay. Also there used to be a dress code for dining, men had to wear long pants and collared shirt. It looks like that is not in play anymore as we observed folks wearing cutoff T shirts, shorts, and flip flops to dinner. The Buffet always has plenty of choices and the food is good. You just need to cover up your swim wear to eat there. Once it turns dark there is a squad of cleaners working in the common areas. When you get up in the morning the grounds and pool areas have all been cleaned. They work hard at keeping things looking good. We like this location as it is more of a calmed atmosphere and the diving is really pretty good! We work with the on-site dive operator Pro-dive. We book our diving in advance and the group size varied from just the two of us to 9 total. A lot less than what you deal with in Cozumel. This is also a good location if you want off-site excursions, as most are pretty close.
