    Bad representation of Cuba

    If you are considering this resort one word DONT!!! We have been to Cuba over 15 times and unfortunately this resort does not have any of the qualities we love about Cuba. This resort has really went from great to horrible in one year. We decided to go back again this year due to our great experience last August. After this visit we will never go back Cons -service is horrible most employees are very rude. Even if you tip it makes no difference. -on many occasions when we attended the buffet they would tell us a table of 9 is not possible. We literally had to put our tables together and the staff would then say “what’s your problem” -cooks are rude they have no problem calling tourists selfish. They basically want to make whatever food they want and expect you to be ok with it and then give you attitude -snack bar which is suppose to be opened 24 hours has no bread for 2 days. Understanding their main menu item it sandwiches. -buffet line ups for breakfast, lunch and dinner expect to wait 45 min minimum -snack bar have to wait 30 min to have someone to come and take your order -lobby bar closes at 11pm basically the whole resort shuts downs at 11 they expect you to go to bed. If you need anything then the snack bar is opened however good luck getting anything -infinity pool was closed two days due to bacteria. The remaining pool would close at 5pm because they would add chemicals. This could seriously be done late in the evening -pool bar closes at 5 even though website indicates later -disco that is suppose to be part of the hotel however located just outside of the resort you actually have to pay for your drinks! This is an all inclusive resort we should not have to pay -snack bar cappuccino makers broken for two days -the lobby bar on a couple of occasions told my daughter their cappuccino maker was broken however when someone else went to order it was fixed??!?? -no lights in the evening to assist you to walk back to your room. We had to use are cell phone flashlight. -a lot of the activities they had last year have been cancelled. Here is a list of activities this resort no longer offers compared to last year: beach server, foam pool party, beach party (now if you want to go to a beach party you have to pay 20 or 25 CUC to go to another resort -no thanks!). All bars last year closed at 2am, the disco was located right in the resort part of the sports bar. -the would run out of everything very common to hear them say sorry no more. Items they would run out of or would not have at all lime, mint for mojito which is Cuba’s signature drink -the buffet selection very limited and no variety. Same thing for 10 days PROS -medical staff on the resort are amazing. -some exceptional employees that love what the do and are great: Carlos and Robert entertainers, buffer server alexeider, beach bar victor -daily coconuts on the beach for a fee -Gardens are well maintained This resort at the very most should be a 2.5 star. If this was our first time going to Cuba I would never go back.

    This was one of my worst experiences in Cuba. We spent seven days here and received towels after two days of being there and were never able to exchange for fresh towels for the duration of the stay. Staff said there was nothing they could do. Food was always cold at the buffet no matter what time you went and the lines were ridiculous. You spent almost a hour in line for an omelet. During our stay they ran out of toilet paper, pina colada and coffee. On the positive, the resort was beautiful and the rooms were clean. Very close to Playa Pilar which is breath taking.

    This resort was very nice. It was new, very clean. Rooms were bright - modern decor and everything in working order. Air conditioning worked very well and the rooms weren’t damp and humid as we experienced in other tropical places. The beach was stunning. White sand and crystal clear water. It was calm and never a worry of strong waves...it was totally enjoyable - what more can anyone ask for. The beach was very quiet with no hustlers bothering you every 30 seconds for braids, or purchasing anything. It was true peacefulness. I’ve travelled to many tropical islands and vacationed a lot - there are NO beaches like the beaches in Cuba! The food was good. Fresh fish - shrimp and mussels daily - sautéed and grilled. Morning breakfast was good. Bacon, eggs, smoothies, croissants, etc. After all, the food is not like Mexico - I understand, but you do not go hungry and it is not at all “disgusting” as other reviewers described. In my opinion, I eat very well at home, so going to Cuba, I go to enjoy something I do not have here in Canada and that is a stunning, breathtaking beach - a beach not found anywhere - quite frankly! So the reviewers that made such harsh comments makes you really wonder! I too was there in August with my Family and more than half the stuff mentioned by other reviewers (during that same time period) was far from the truth and seriously exaggerated! Perhaps those people need to remain at home! Probably not experienced travellers. When you vacation not everything will be perfect! Overall, great vacation - service was great. Would recommend the resort and consider returning next year!

    Best Girls Trip Ever

    LOCATION: This resort is a 40-60 minute drive from the Jardines del Ray (CCC) airport. There are about 9 resorts in Cayo Guillermo, no homes/businesses from what we were told. The Delfinaro is close by. The Jeep Safari, Moron City and horse-back riding excursions are on the mainland which is a 2-3 hour drive. While driving we saw a lot of bushes and damage from the hurricane 2 years ago. There are beautiful flamingos and dolphins to look at as well. Great place for fishing and aquatic excursions. The mosquitoes are terrible, I've been to many places in the South and have never had such a horrible experience with mosquitoes. They are the worst at sunset and sunrise! If it weren't for the mosquitoes, I would give this experience 5 stars. ROOM: We had a junior suite with ocean view and it was amazing. Our room had air conditioning, a fan, a stand-up shower, 3 beds, water and drinks refilled daily. We even received a shoe horn, sewing kit, safe (free of charge), umbrellas, and coffee maker. Our maid did a great job at cleaning and would make cute little swans/bow-ties with our bed sheets. One morning around 9am the power went out in our villa, by the time we returned from breakfast (10:30am) it was fixed. There's always staff members gardening, cleaning, painting, etc. We could see the care and effort the staff takes to maintain the property. Everything is well kept! SERVICE: The staff are incredible. Special shout out to Jose and Danise, they are exceptional entertainers that go out of their way to make sure everyone is laughing, moving, and having a great time. Shout out to our boy Darien who makes the yummiest churros at the snack bar every day, he will take his time and make sure he has a conversation which each and everyone. Shout out to the beach bartenders, Juan and I'm sorry I forgot the other name... but those guys are always smiling and quick to prepare orders. They make the best drinks out of all the bars! Shout out to the guy always preparing pasta for everyone in the buffet and thank you to the pizza guy who saw me lining up, took my order and personally delivered it to my table. One day my little sister was sick, in no time a server prepared 3 cups of tea for her. Another thing I would like to highlight is that they are all quick to make improvements. For example, when the staff noticed how long it was taking to personalize and prepare individual pizza orders - the next day they made different types of pizzas and sliced them before the guests arrived so they could grab what they wanted and go instead of lining up. When they noticed that people are going to the beach early to reserve spots for all their friends/families by placing towels, they stacked all the beach chairs up and made sure it was first-come first-serve to be fair. Overall, the staff here are one of a kind. They work so hard and many take on multiple roles! They really go above and beyond, I am so happy that we chose Grand Muthu. I will definitely be back!

    Excellent hotel, everything you need to relax and have fun. I love this place Room: Good size, super clean.Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice shower. Daily refill 2 sodas 2 beer's Hotel in general: Very clean, top customer service. The employees will make you feel like family, every morning you will get a Good morning from everyone starting from gardeners, maids, managments etc. Food, coffee, alcoholic beverages everywhere plus entertainment and music. I wants to recognize every single employee who made us feel like family. First Animations and entertainment team: Daniel (Gracias por la musica), Yaritza José, Daniela thank you very much for all you do. Excellent job. I don't know how you guys can work so many hours a day with so much energy, you are funny and at the same time very professional. At the Buffet:Ruben, Diosmary, Yenmy. Great customer service. Thank you for being there for us and making sure everything is taking care of at our table. At the beach Bar: Don't miss Victor's mojitos and piñas coladas. VERY Exceptional. Thank you very much everyone . We can't way to get back there.
