Had a great time. Staff very friendly, very helpful and always trying to make the experience even better. Food was great, drinks were great. We had an amazing time. Definitely recommend the catamaran trip to Rick’s. Also you have to try the Jiggy Coffee at the coffee bar.

As always, Sunset at the Palms knows how too treat you well. Every year we return its like going home. Home but there is always something new to see or do. We are always sad to leave but at the same time, excited to plan for next year. What do we like? The beautiful gardens, the animals, the food, the ?, the tree house rooms, the privacy, but most of all the wonderful employees that attend to your every need. See you next year SATP!

Still in the middle of the pandemic, so the hotel was not at full capacity. However our group of 10 had a great time. Staff, everyone including all bar tenders and wait staff were great. Gardeners, drivers, life guard, everyone was just wonderful, helpful and accommodating. Tobian, Daemond, lady at the gift shop and really everyone else were great. Looking forward to visiting again

We had the best week at Sunset at the Palms. We wanted to get out of NYC to celebrate a special birthday for my wife. The folks at Sunset went all out to make her day (and week) perfecto! We felt very safe and that every single employee was taking precautions and had our health and welfare in as top of mind in everything they do. The room, the grounds, the beach, the pool were all kept in wonderful shape throughout our week. They answered every question, they did things in a timely matter. Thank you to Kadian, Patrick, Andreke, Collette, and all of the magnificent staff to going above and beyond!

Sunset at the Palms has lived up to its marketing. This lush eco friendly resort will be a new home away from home for sure! In addition to beautiful grounds and clever use of aromatherapy, this resort has one of the best staffs at any Jamaican resort. I’m used to traveling with butler service and staying in 5 star luxury accommodations; so, when I take the time to complete a review, it’s usually because something stands out that’s worthy of recognition. Pre-arrival: Our personal concierge, Josephine made it her business to ensure that any special requests were accommodated. Check-in: Josephine was off so, we were greeted by another friendly concierge staff member who completed the COVID-19 protocol (i.e. sanitization of person and property with customary temperature check). She provided us with a thorough overview of the resort amenities and she and a bellman escorted us to our room. I was in a terrible hurry so I can’t recall her name at the moment but she was quite lovely. Later that evening, we had the pleasure of meeting Kadian, who is certainly la grande dame when it comes to concierge services. Without knowing it was possible, Kadian improved the level of service by double checking everything that had been done and ensuring that my mother’s special day would start off even more beautiful than our first night there. She arranged for breakfast on our balcony and had our room nicely decorated to mark mom’s special occasion. We later met Mr. Patrick Lindsay, Director of Food and Beverage and so very much more. Mr. Lindsay, a formally trained professional Butler, paid us a visit to find out if we had any special dietary needs and went above and beyond to ensure that our culinary experience was unmatched. He then remained in contact throughout our stay and interacted with us daily. I thought that this service was unique to us but was disappointed to learn that this was the gentleman’s standard operating procedure. Everyone got the same A++ treatment. He’s just wired this way. If I might admit it, I’d like to take him home with me. No one should be without a Patrick Lindsay in their life. Love this guy! Housekeeping: Now this is a really big deal for me. Housekeeping has to be on point for any resort to even receive 3 stars. I can excuse food because we all have different palettes, but cleanliness is truly next to Godliness and these ladies are angels. Heading the team was Ms. Gloria Allen, a force to be reckoned with. She runs a tight ship and leads an incredible team. Everton, Oneil and the guys were great but blowing everyone away is our personal housekeeper, Trisha. Mind you, I’ve never seen her but every time I return to my room, I’m reminded of her diligence and sheer genius. In addition to keeping our room spotless, Trisha made us the cutest towel animals I’ve ever seen and after being on over fifty cruises (likely very close to if not more than 100), I think I can definitely say, I’m an expert on towel animals ;-). She started with the basic, a graceful swan, then followed up with the proud peacocks. I must say however, that my favorite was definitely the elephant. These guys had such great attention to detail that I had to memorialize them with photography. I’ll try to post some pics. From their graceful tails like the lovely peacocks to their long lashes like the majestic elephant’s. Trisha, well done! A+ for you! Gift shop: first off, I’ll acknowledge that I am indeed a reformed shopaholic so this is an important element. As far as hotel gift shops go, this one is pretty standard. What makes it review worthy is its staff. On day 1 I met Lynette. Her magnetic personality beckoned us into the shop when I had zero intent of visiting. Zero! I couldn’t make it the first two days but having promised her that we’d stop by, we had to keep our word. Imagine our disappointment when we heard that she wasn’t there. That sentiment was short lived however because we met sweet Brittany. Brittany is what one would call silent but deadly. After over an hour in the tiny gift shop we realized that we had spent most of our spending money (hundreds of US $$$) on some great quality, affordably priced Jamaican souvenirs. We felt we found great value and great company. Shopping there was a pleasure! Beach: By far, this is one of the best beaches in the Bloody Bay Area of Negril. We had the pleasure of visiting the Royalton during our stay here and it’s a completely different experience. Royalton was great for snorkeling as their beach sits on a rocky reef. Lovely for snorkeling but not so much for relaxing and swimming. Sunset at the Palms on the other hand gets two big thumbs up for their excellent beach. Beautiful white sand, comfy chairs, decent drinks and an amazing staff made this experience remarkable. Given that I had the pleasure of experiencing the beach and hospitality at both the Royalton and SATP I’ll give a brief comparison especially on service. At the Royalton, we had a paid cabana and chair reservation. This gazebo included a stocked cooler as well as butler service. Butlers were attentive but didn’t have a direct means for communication. You sort of had to wait for them to pass by. They have a large beach area and tend to several cabanas at the same time. Service was decent. Tracey was excellent and Conrad was okay. Again, note that this is a paid add on. Prices ranged from $60 to over $200. The vibe there was also very different. They had a young diverse crowd ranging from children to adults all with different temperaments. The actual beach as mentioned was not a typical beach but still a lovely experience. Great experience for families, especially for snorkeling. Not such a good experience for adult seeking a luxurious stay. Also not a winner when it comes to COVID-19 protocols. Beach at Sunset at the Palms was beautiful and relaxing. Sand was white and water was crystal clear. Beach area is pretty large for the low occupancy and the restrooms are super impressive. Used the facilities at Royalton and couldn’t even close the door to the tiny restroom where the lights kept going on and off. Very high staff to guest ratio meant service was almost always instantaneous. Our security attendant Erica was extremely attentive and our lifeguards, bartenders and other attendants were friendly and engaging. Two thumbs up for Alexander. To notify our service team that we needed drinks we simply placed a red flag in the sand or waived for their attention. Again super responsive. The only potential minus is that there are vendors trying to peddle their wares. Erica handled them nicely and you could tell that they knew their boundaries but their occasional presence could be a tiny bother for some. We didn’t mind; and, again, Erica kept them in check. Grounds: Not sure where to start here or how much to say. I think my heading says it all and their website says the rest. This place is lush, charming and masterfully landscaped. We loved interacting with nature and enjoyed the sounds of the many species of birds flittering around. We even enjoyed our little woodpecker who would visit a nearby tree from time to time. This place is the perfect balance of sand and sea with lush, tropical landscaping. The only possible addition that I can imagine would be perhaps larger water features to drown out the occasional car driving by though the birds and crickets do their parts. Lovely place. Our gardener Mr. W and maintenance person, Patroy also get two thumbs up. A+! Food: one word, YUM! Both our chef who handled the Chef’s exhibition and our chef who manned the kitchen were exceptional. Both of their names escape me at the moment but I must make special mention of the gentleman who worked on Celebrity Cruise line for over 17 years. This gentleman is like a great big teddy bear and his food is finger licking good! He left the kitchen to ensure that my special requests were granted and raised the bar for service delivery. Two thumbs up!!! Entertainment: highlight? Definitely TobiAnn. This concierge turned DJ is a star of guest services. Her karaoke night was the entertainment highlight of our stay. Piano man was generally good but to be completely honest, Tobyann took the cake with entertainment. She’s super cute, witty, raps and sings. What more could anyone ask for? Kudos Ms. Tobyann (sorry about the spelling). I think I’ve just about covered everyone. If I’ve missed you, please forgive me because you helped make our stay just about perfect.
