Resort was nice, but rooms are small and overpriced considering now you have to pay a parking fee

One of the perks of staying at a Disney resort was the avoidance of daily park parking fees and Disney transportation. While the skyliner did shorten the commute to two parks, sometimes the wait times for busses were excessive. Three months later we stayed at a neighboring resort that was cheaper, had a regular shuttle service and even when we used Lyft it was a nicer room with better resort amenities for a far better price. I am a Disney fan, but am not sure I will be using their resorts in the future. Too many better and more reasonable alternatives elsewhere. I am truly embarrassed for Disney and their move to charge for parking and/or resort fees.

I like to try as many of the Disney hotels as I can when I visit, so was excited to stay here for the first time. I got a Little Mermaid room as that was the only option to choose from. The room itself was somewhat cutely decorated, very Disney clean, no complaints there. A couple things that made me give only three stars included there was no lotion in the room, no coffee maker (and a decent hike to the cafe) and the rooms were outdoor rooms compared to the other themed buildings. For little kids I get the allure, but since I was by myself (for work) I wasn't wowed and would not stay again. I did walk through the cars area and that seemed much cuter, so perhaps that is the better area to stay, or Nemo.

The service was what I would expect from a Disney resort - accommodating and friendly. The resort itself is large and the walk between buildings was more than I have experienced at other (non-Disney) resorts. My only issue was with the room delivery - I ordered a gift to be delivered to the room, but they wouldn't deliver it without someone to sign as it had alcohol in it. I was fine with this, but I ended up having to sign for it at the front desk and carry it back to the room myself, trying to sneak it past the person it was for. It would have been more convenient if I could have signed earlier and just had it delivered during the day!

We stayed two night in the beginning of March at Disney’s Art of Animation, we arrived at the resort at 10:30am and checked in but our room was not available till 3:00. We checked in our luggage so we could go straight to the parks, I gave my phone number so we would get a text message when our room was ready. The staff were super friendly and courteous the hallways were covered in beautiful art work from the movies. We got our text just before 3:00 but didn’t go back till after 8:00 to our room. We went straight to our room in building #9 in the little mermaid side. With our wrist bands we were able to enter our room and it was nice and clean. Very happy with our stay and we will definitely beck returning for another visit.
