Sheraton Desert Oasis

We recently stayed at the Desert Oasis. Pros: staff were very friendly, it was affordable and clean. The pool was great. Lots of grocery options nearby as well as hiking options. We stayed during COVID and found their restrictions to be reasonable (ie, how they handled pool capacity). Cons: we stayed with our 7 year old twins in a one bedroom and it was just WAY too small. Even though the one bedrooms are advertised as being able to accommodate four, I would say maybe just one child and two adults. It also just felt tight all over the property-like the buildings were placed too close together, the balconies were tiny (and didn't have any sun exposure), zero counter space in the kitchenettes...

Before the pandemic I came to Scottsdale often for conferences and business travel but never brought my family. That all changed this year and we decided to go for Spring break and this is where we stayed. We can’t say enough good things about this place. Here are a few to consider if you’re traveling with a family. 1. Having a kitchen is critical and if you’re a parent you likely understand what I mean. Waking up in a hotel room and then needing to scramble and go down to a hotel restaurant for an overpriced, mediocre breakfast is annoying. That’s not an issue here because you’ll have a full kitchen and a grocery story within 2 miles. 2. Everything was spotless. From the room to the pool and everything in between I’d say this place was cleaner than my own home - no exaggeration. 3. It has no frills like a spa, golf or a cigar lounge. If you’re a parent of young kids, will you actually be able to use those things anyway? 4. The staff was helpful, friendly and courteous. This started the moment we checked in and the concierge gave us loads of insight about the local area and what we could do with the kids. 5. I’ve stayed at all the large 5-star resorts in Scottsdale (Hyatt, Fairmont, JW Marriott) and the pool here is as good or better that you’ll find there. I could go on but this should cover it and needless to say we’ll be back. Thanks to the staff for a great spring break 2021.

Thankfully only stayed 1 night. When we arrived, we noticed dried up blood on the floor by the toilet. We called front desk to report it and while we were at the pool, housekeeping was supposed to come back and clean the bathroom. They couldn’t clean the whole room because that is supposedly a five hour process. When we got back from the pool, I went to take a shower and there were black hairs all over the wall and tub area. If someone cleaned, that wouldn’t be there. I can only imagine the last time the room was cleaned. Given the fact I have to wear a mask in all common areas & there is hand sanitizer everywhere, you would think the management would make sure the rooms were cleaned. For $409 a night, it isn’t too much to expect a clean room. We deserve to get our $ back!! Not sure we will be sticking around to see the Easter bunny this morning. Just totally grossed out. Staying here with and 18 month old and 2 month old.

Wonderfully located near shopping, restaurants and about twenty minutes from spring training venues. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very accommodating resort. Excellent pool area and spa with poolside bar and grill.

Helaine was nothing but helpful as we tried to plan our week of fun in the Scottsdale area. She was kind, patient and an excellent listener. She shared about different experiences, wonderful restaurants and the sights we had to see. A big thank you to Helaine for giving us so much fantastic advice!
