We just stayed at the Lindo for 7 nights. I must say the kids club is amazing. We have two six year olds and an 8 year old and they had a blast attending the kids club. They didn’t go everyday but wanted to. We typically took them mid to late afternoon as by then the sun was draining and they were ready for some air conditioning. Twice they stayed at the club for dinner and we met them at the theatre for their kids show. Our kids loved acting in the show and dressing up. The kids club definitely earns 5 stars. Yes, the hotel is older but they are using the off season to make improvements...I somewhat think to many improvements at once. This week they gutted the Lindo restaurant by the pool so that took two nightly restaurants out of the equation. A couple of days the noise was quite loud around the pool area and lots of debris and nails falling. On top of the restaurant they are also resurfacing the cement around the pool. The noise and dust from that was non stop. Both of those things were happening in the general area of the pool bar and entertainment section so it made it hard to talk and participate in activities as you couldn’t hear. My other negative about the pool is that there is no bar you can walk to at the big pool...your only option is to get into the water and go to the swim up bar. I think because of how it’s set up they need more servers walking around. We only got asked a couple times the entire week if they could get us a drink. Now to the food. This is where the hotel really nose dived for us. Yes it’s October and it’s off season so lower crowd levels but I think they took it to the extreme to save on help and not open restaurants. From a day to day basis it was extremely confusing on where we could eat and where we couldn’t. The concierges desk in your building would have a sign of open restaurants but we found those to be wrong and also the app. We would show up to a buffet to see a sign at the door directing you elsewhere. Buffets were having a terrible time keeping food out. Sometimes I think it was lack of employees and sometimes due to the only buffet open being so busy. One night we had to eat at the Maya buffet as it was the only one open and literally people stood and waited for food to come out...it wasn’t just a little while it was for a long time. When we left the buffet that evening there was a wait to get a table at the buffet...that is just crazy! Why only have one buffet open? We did eat Japanese, Steakhouse, and Mexican restaurants and found those to be decent...it was the buffets that really lacked. Again over all we enjoyed the trip because for us it was family time and we can let stuff roll off but we did really feel they needed to be way more organized on the food side of things.

    Hot, humid weather.

Unfortunately tourism is down 45% and they are shutting down restaurants. Out front of our junior suite they are noisly sanding the cement walkways by the main pool and closed off lounge areas due to dust created. There are hardly any drink service offered around the pool. However indoor bars are hospitable and so far we had terrific food at le ranchero steah house. Order beef rib or tenderloin but not the ribeye it was grisly. Salmon was also good if you want it, but why bother at a steak house?

This place was great and we were allowed to use restaurants from the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya. Food was much better at those restaurants. The buffet at the Paraiso Lindo near the ocean was terrible. We then went to the Maya and the food was awesome. Every place in the Maya was delicious. We only had problems one day with our room not being cleaned at all until we complained. But usually everyday was done very early and perfectly. We were very disappointed with the the bonus we were suppose to receive. We were told that we were too old to receive cash instead of message therapy. They wanted us to lie about our age, which we refused. $600 full of bonus and we didn’t use any.

Great entertainment staff. Good Food and nice family rooms. I traveled with 10 family members and there was something for everyone. Homemade crepes with Nutella were a favorite. We took the shuttle to Playa del Carmen to shop and the kids loved the wave pool and lazy river.
