    This was our second stay at The Dana as it is our favourite hotel in San Diego. We stayed in a Deluxe Bay View suite again as we absolutely love this room- it’s more like a mini condo with a 2 large beds bed, kitchen and lounge. We would highly recommend these rooms as the view from the balcony (especially at sunset- see photos) are even more stunning than we had remembered. As well as the amazing room, The Dana hotel surroundings were beautiful. The pool areas were lovely, situated right next to a marina with an amazing hot tub which we could have stayed in for hours (it's open late too which is a bonus when you've had a long day exploring and just want to relax). The pool area offers a poolside food and drink service which we think is great, more hotels should offer this as it really adds to their premium feel. We would only ask that in busier times there is more than one person serving to avoid waiting. We didn’t have an evening meal at The Firefly restaurant this year (although last year the food was pretty good!) We did have breakfast though which was fantastic, included plenty of hot and cold food plus an omelette station where a chef cooked you up one from scratch, a nice premium touch. We also had a wrap and fries by the pool one lunch time which was also delicious. We stayed at the beginning of October, which was some kind of ‘kids go free’ month in San Diego. Compared to our previous stay in September the year before, which was utterly relaxing and peaceful, for a couple wanting to relax, screaming kids running around can be a bit of a nuisance. The only bad experience was the treatment we received by servers at Firefly on our second night. We arrived at the bar quite late, maybe 45 minutes before they closed as we wanted a night cap after returning from an evening meal. Throughout the day and evening, The Firefly offers table service, so we sat and waited patiently for about 10 mins whilst a waiter was cleaning tables and collecting chair cushions. He made eye contact with us several times, and when we finally asked him if we could order a drink, he told us we now had to go inside. We’re fine with that but why not tell us this? We also wanted the fire pit on as they had turned them off. We totally understand turning them off if the bar is quiet to save on gas, but if you have paying customers they should be turned back on. We were told by the same, rather moody server that they weren’t turning them back on again. We were really annoyed by this as it was quite chilly and we’d paid for drinks, so if the bar is still open then why can’t we have access to these? We asked inside, to be told no again, we even went up to reception to ask but were told that Firefly wasn’t managed by them. By this point we were losing our patience so asked to speak to the manager, who eventually and reluctantly turned the firepit on for us. By that point we felt a bit uncomfortable for asking for it as it had caused such a stir. It does seem a bit silly that all of that could have been avoided, just by using basic customer service standards- if a customer asks for something reasonable, then there shouldn’t be a reason to say no. Ironically the night before we alerted reception staff that a firepit had been left on (after midnight). Despite this negative, we still love the vibe of this hotel, as usual we didn’t want to leave. We will DEFINITELY be back again if we visit San Diego this year/ next year.

    I recently spent nearly two weeks at the Dana on Mission Bay. I have stayed at the Dana numerous times over the years and always appreciated my time there. The hotel staff was courteous and professional at all times. They provided me with fast and friendly service when ever I needed assistance. The room I stayed in was excellent. The views of Mission Bay are definitely million dollar views. The housekeeping staff did a great job as the room was nothing short of immaculate on a daily basis. I had ate at the Firefly restaurant a few times during my stay. The food was extremely good. The restaurant was clean and the staff were all very efficient. If I lived in San Diego this would be a restaurant I would go out my way to go to on a regular basis. The Dana is an outstanding value in my opinion. From top to bottom the Dana offers a first class guest experience for anyone looking a quality place to stay.

    Stayed at the Dana for a family wedding. The location in beautiful but the rooms are tired and ours was very dark due to plants outside the window obscuring the light. The restaurant on site (Firefly) is very good and has lovely fire tables for the evening. It’s expensive and they should invest in a refurb.

    The hotel resort activities were great, especially yoga on the marina. Great location and for walks by the water. Fernando at the Firefly omelet bar is fantastic and provided great customer service. The price is reasonable and the food was delicious at Firefly. Overall great experience and staff!

    The staff is so kind and helpful! They really made our stay memorable. IDAN at the front desk was an amazing associate who was so helpful, professional and kind. Do yourself a favor and book this hotel. We stayed in the Lanai room. Highly recommend and the back porch was so peaceful and quite. Feels like you’re in Hawaii! Enjoy!
