Great location in the very busy SFO!

Excellent location, near to shops and restaurants. Room was spacious, and being on the 25th floor, we were right opposite the Salesforce tower in SFO!! Friendly staff, and Starbucks coffee in the room. They also offered complimentary bottled water at the font desk, a perfect accompaniment for the traveler like myself (although I carry my reusable bottle but on this trip, I missed it) Loved the super fast elevators, and their efficient system of accessing appropriate elevators based on the floor number. The technologist in me wonders how they've built the algorithm :) One downside is the super expensive valet parking!! Highly recommend to park at the neighboring public garage across the street; its half the price, and also offers in and out privileges for a very small fee. Do not miss going to the Clock Bar at the end of your work day; its a full service casual bar. Noisy, fills up quickly; nice courteous staff, good snacks.

Perfect base in Union Square near to shops and restaurants with cable car stopping right outside hotel. Lovely large room with great bathroom, clean and well appointed, Starbucks coffee in rooms which was welcome after a long day out. Friendly helpful staff and liked the idea of having to put hotel room key and number in lift to get to correct floor. One negative it has a Starbucks in reception which is very expensive so go over the road where you will find one at the usual price.

Great hotel in the union square area. Huge rooms and very comfy beds. Front desk staff were ok. Room was quiet and had a pleasant stay. Recommended for families as rooms large enough to stretch out...

We have an annual health care summit at this property and have been hosting at the Westin for the last 4 years , twice annually. Working with the sales team has been great. Raquel Chacon is rooms is a dream to work with. Very helpful.

If you're looking for a hotel that's dead center of Union Square, this will be the perfect hotel for you. If you're looking for a hotel that's clean, look somewhere else. I arrived at the Westin and checked in without any problems. I was really looking forward to the stay an excited to be so close to Union Square. I had prepaid and secured a 1 bedroom suite with a connecting single room for my family the trip. We headed up to the room and immediately, my wife and I both started getting headaches as the room smelled of stale cigarettes. After we entered the room, we noticed a huge stain in the middle of the floor. Travelling with two toddlers, I did not want them on the ground in this room. I headed back down to the front desk to resolve the matter. I was told that the hotel was at over 90% capacity and that there were no other room types available that met our initial reservation criteria. She said she would talk to her manager who agreed to send up the housekeeping manager to inspect the room. Once the housekeeping manager looked at the floor and smelled the room, he agreed that the rooms were not up to standard and should not have been occupied until the problems were resolved. Unfortunately, they would not be able to address the situation while the room was occupied. I went back down to talk to the front desk again, and after speaking with the front desk manager, they agreed to refund us the full amount of the prepaid reservation as they could not accommodate our initial reservation with clean rooms. We left without any complaints but when I got my credit card statement, I noticed no refund had been issued. I contacted the hotel right away and they said they would investigate and get back to me. There was no response. I completed a guest satisfaction survey and gave them poor scores. I was able to elicit an e-mail response from their front desk Amanda Landsbaum; however, after replying to her e-mail and sending her pictures and leaving multiple voicemails, there was again no response. I contacted Marriott customer service who stated I needed to coordinate any refunds directly with the hotel. I filed a complaint with the customer service manager at Marriott and am waiting for a reply. I will provide any updates as they occur. I love Marriott and the various hotels they have under their brand. 8 out of 10 times, I will stay out at a Marriott hotel; however, after this latest debacle, it's time for me to reconsider my future travel plans.
