This is no 5 star resort and we didn't expect or pay for a 5 star resort. First the staff to greet you were super nice handing you a rum punch as soon as you arrived. The food staff was super friendly each time we dined. Most of the bar staff was good some really seemed tired of the people. I understand some of this as I mentioned before this was our first all inclusive and we were unsure how to tip, I think we did ok. I'm sure many customers never tipped at all thinking it is all part of the package. The food we had was just fine for what we expected. Entertainment each night was great as well as the games and activities set up during the day. Drinks were all good.. The rooms were clean none to big but who is there to sit in a room. The beach was excellent. I enjoyed the workout room. Nice store. So why not 5 stars? Our last day some groupies (6) from one of the vendors allowed on the beach moved their way into the area my wife and I were relaxing and sat smoking pot and talking crap. We ended up moving and giving up our good spot. This needs to be patrolled better. We have been to many islands and I can truthfully say the people on this island are some of the nicest we have ever met. Not just the resort but we traveled the island and we felt save and they were all nice.

A real gem! We stayed here earlier this month. We picked this because the price was a lot lower for all inclusive than a lot of other Caribbean islands and it was recommended by a few people. We now also recommend it! Going straight to the headline, l the beach is outstanding - big, clean, a soft sandy bottom and west facing so amazing sunsets every night. There were sail boats, kayaks and paddle boards to borrow for free every day and free sailing lessons in the morning. There were more than enough parasols for everyone each day although I don't think the hotel was overly busy when we were there. As with every hotel in the world, hardcore older holidaymakers (HOM) getting up at 4:30am each day and nabbing the prime spots and then barely even showing up for most of the day was a huge issue. We also discovered that a lot of them tip the beach hawkers to lay their towels out in the morning! As all Antiguan beaches are public, the guys selling excursions and souvenirs on the beach can't be avoided. They were very friendly but do make an effort to sell to you every day and will remember what you said previous days. The pool(s) are fine, lots of loungers but not much shade. The swim up bar is as good as it sounds and they certainly do not water down the drinks!! Some of the bar staff however did not seem impressed to have to serve you drinks. The entertainment team deserves a special mention. In other places it does feel like you are harassed every day to take part but the team here genuinely want you to enjoy yourself. There's a huge range of activities with pool aerobics and volleyball on every day and then a mix of activities throughout the rest of the week. Some of them include drinking games, dance lessons, bingo, beach cricket, football, a sunset hike up a nearby hill and a cinema on the beach! In particular, thank you to Dave and Ann-Marie for being so good to us! The evening entertainment passed the evenings quickly and they put on a few larger parties some nights. There are some local places nearby along the beach or in the marina which made for a nice change and were not too expensive. The food was nothing special unfortunately but we are not big foodies so were not too bothered by this. The breakfast/lunch and main dinners are all a buffet with the evening meal on a weekly cycle. The highlight of breakfast is the lady who's mission in life is to sing good morning to every one of her guests each day! There is also a beachside grill at lunchtimes which was great for maximising your time each day! As other reviews mention, there are 3 other restaurants serving seafood, Italian and Mexican which you need to book into. Reservations open for the next day each morning at 9 with the HOM queuing long before this but generally we managed to book into them easily enough. We tried the Italian and Mexican, only the Mexican impressed us. We saw all of the warnings about the room so 'upgraded' to a standard room. It was fine enough - the blocks are all concrete with basic wooden furniture inside so there isn't much to play with. All rooms have a sea view in the main blocks. You have to pay extra for the safe each day. Our door wouldn't open one day which was fixed quickly enough. Our flight home was in the evening so after noon checkout we could leave our bags, stay at the hotel all day and then use a convenience room to shower/change before leaving was appreciated. Activity wise we didn't do too much outside the hotel this time. We rented a car from a counter in the hotel and drove the island. The roads are quite hairy and the car hire is also quite expensive! We also got the bus to St Johns which is $3 for 2 people from just outside the hotel! There were plenty of boat trips and excursions on offer from the counter inside the hotel or the guys on the beach so there is plenty to do. I think the 3* is correct but the location is 5*. Because it was 3* it felt like the guests were a lot friendlier and approachable and we met so many people during our stay! If we were to go back it would be because of how friendly everyone is!

Where do I start Firstly, if you intend to spend more than £3000 for a holiday, look elsewhere. On arrival, we were shown to our PROMO room. This is an outright con. You are given a tiny room with only enough cupboardwardrobe space for one person. No fridge or kettle, but that is the same in every room, even upgrades. You have no alternative but to ask for an upgrade. Surprise, surprise, there are more than enough rooms to upgrade to. Before our upgrade, my wife took a shower and the head exploded sending water throughout the room (no shower door) soaking everything. That was our first night. We went for something to eat and drink retired. I had trouble finding our room as the lighting and signposting isn't good. I put the key in the door and opened it. It was SOMEONE ELSES ROOM! My key had opened a completely different room! The upgrade cost me £400, to a bigger room, no fridge or kettle. After the first nights sleep, my wife awoke after a restless night to find she had been bitten to death by bed bugs. We stripped the sheets and found the tell tale signs of bed bug poo in the matress creases. Prompt, another move. No apologies, nothing! Food. Its awful. Birds are flying over it, landing and pecking at the food, no doubt, also doing what birds do. One lunchtime I waited in a queue of hotel gardeners for 15 minutes to get some pasta. The quality of the food is poor. We paid far less to go to Mauritius where the food and accommodation was wonderful. When there were 'theme' nights on the beach or by the pool, the restaurant food was even worse. Before the end of the first week, we stopped eating at the hotel and ate out. There are too many staff doing nothing and a few excellent staff doing everything. To most, it seemed like they were on holiday! The quiet pool is atrocious. The base of the pool is cracking up, however, on the bright side, if you do go to the quiet pool, you will be as high as a kite by mid afternoon from the ganja being smoked 10 feet away in the beach huts. One afternoon at the quiet pool, a man was lying on a sunbed, his wife nearby. For some reason they began arguing, the man lent over a spewed his lunch and drink up. Quite a mess. They left and I went to Reception to ask for someone to clean up the mess. It was still there two hours later, and the local birds were having a feast! Now, if you havent been put off yet, wait for this. Midway through our second week, we went to the supermarket and my wife took her purse. At the supermarket checkout she opened her purse to find all her money missing. Now this purse had been in the safe since ouir arrival. Back at the room I checked the safe and there was no sign of my wifes money and all my cash had been taken too. We called reception and security arrived. He told us what the procedure was but advised against calling the Police as he said, it wouldnt be nice for us. We had stolen £260-£300. There was something about the security guards advice that appeared to have a ring of truth. Just to mention, I was a 32 year career Detective, so you know what I mean! Report made, we carried on. The next morning, my wife went to use her phone that she had put in a drawer, and found it missing! Security called, and the Police. The start of another nightmare. The security guard came to our room and spoke to my wife and I at about 9.30am. We were told to go to Reception to await the arrival of the Police. Five hours later, the police arrived, so a day wasted in Reception waiting for them. A Corporal and three other police people (cant call them officers) arrived. We went with them to our room where we were made to endure the most horrific search of our room, our cases emptied, my wifes underwear gone through, the bed tipped upside down Nothing put back. We were the suspects!! We were questioned and questioned again and again. I told them that I was always in possession of the safe key, and they could not believe that there could be a key in someones possession that could get into safes. They did not believe, nor did Reception staff, that I had entered someone else room with my room key! I asked for a crime report, available in Reception Friday they said. After the harrowing search and questioning they left. One of them left a notebook in our room. My wife said she would return it to them and thank God she did, as she caught a very obnoxious Reception superviser called CAROL (beware of her) was talking to the Police and had found a young serving staff member to tell the police that she had seen my wife at the beach bar at 9.30am that morning with a pink phone, waving handfuls of money around. We were being SET UP! My wife went into meltdown and had a severe panic attack. How could this be happening to us, hard working, in my case a REAL Police Officer for 32 years with a dozen or more commendations. I had asked to check out at the end of the first week it was so bad but was told I would have to pay again for my full stay before I could leave! Surprise surprise no crime report, I have to ask for one when I get home, costing between $40-$50 depending on who replies to your email. Finally our pre booked private transfer, booked through MY HOLIDAY EXTRAS failed to turn up, costing me 100ECD to take a trip to the airport I had already paid for in England. You have been warned!!

The property is beautiful and is well kept. There’s also a beach right on the property which is to die for! The drinks are typical of any all inclusive resort. The food at the buffet could use some more options and variety but the a la carte restaurants were pretty decent. The biggest downside to this resort is the rooms. They are seriously in need of an upgrade. The “superior” room is the best option the offer and it’s really a standard hotel room. The regular/super saver rooms are REALLY small and has twin beds! The “king room” was two twin beds wrapped and tucked. The bathrooms in both the regular and king rooms are really old and unlike any hotel I’ve ever seen. The customer service coupled with the beauty of the beach and property makes this resort worth the visit. If you can get pass the rooms or can get a “superior” room then you will love your stay here.

The hotel was built in 1979 and needs a full refurbishment.. I was on the fourth floor and there are no lifts. The stairs get wet when it rains. The dining area is shielded by wooden doors with fly screens. All falling to bits. There was very little choice at meal times but given that the hotel was almost empty with virus panic stopping many from coming I suppose it was understandable. The staff are VERY helpful and, with one notable exception cheerful and welcoming. The exception being a woman who told me off for taking an unfinished drink into the toilet telling me that I MUST leave it outside next time and should have read the sign which USED TO BE THERE! One lovely lady leads the singing of happy songs when she is on duty at meal times. The serving dishes on the buffet are old and need replacing. . I object to paying for a room safe and paid the penalty. One day I found that my wallet had been emptied despite the fact that I left $10ec on the bed every day for the room maid . The duty manager + head of security came to my room to take a statement ,I declined to involve the police for about £30. My passport and VISA card were untouched. So sad that someone risked their job and reputation for so little. If she/he had approached me for some cash to alleviate poverty I would have gladly have given her/him £30. A hotel with excellent staff doing their best in difficult circumstances (old building old equipment very few guests) the grounds are lovely and the beach is excellent.
