Really nice!

Am here now. The staff is very nice and the hotel is well thought out. It has everything you need for a comfortable vacation. Beach is excellent. Red sail sports on the beach is a great plus. Downside: construction during the week is loud and can get grating. We had to go to the opposite end of the beach for less noise. Also request a room away from the construction. Tortugas on the beach is not good. Tried it twice. Burger was dry and overcooked even though I asked for medium. Possibly the worst burger I have had. The turkey sandwich actually made me feel sick. Salty and the turkey was a bad quality cold cut. Not fresh. The activities were really nice. All in all a great place to stay.
Very Nice Hotel Overall But Housekeeping Needs Improvement

My husband and I stayed at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach in November 2019 for a conference and also vacation getaway. This was our second visit to the island, so this time it was only a beach vacation as we saw all of the attractions during the previous visit. The hotel is most grand with luxurious lobby, pool, beach, restaurant, and general areas. We had an ocean front room with a larger balcony in comparison to the others -- made much use of it by having coffee in the morning while viewing the pool grounds and beach! The room was nicely decorated and large enough with basic desk, small sofa, plenty of drawer/closet space, and decent sized walk in bathroom. We were slightly disappointed that construction was underway in some of the hotel rooms and then also next to the pool restaurant, but it did not take too much away from our stay. All of the staff we encountered were great including front desk, bartenders, restaurants, and bellmen. However, a few (not all) of the ladies who maintained the rooms via housekeeping had a bit of an unwelcoming attitude when we tried to greet them while passing by. Also, they were hit or miss with providing daily amenities (shampoo, coffee, etc.) and the way they straightened up the room was messy - not fully making the bed, not vacuuming sand in the bathroom, or tossing amenities on the counter. Given the class of this hotel, we'd expect these to have been done in a better fashion and also not having to call the front desk for amenities that housekeeping did not leave. Since we there in November and a large conference was underway, we were able to get two beach chairs with umbrella daily, but only by having self "reserved" them in the early morning -- by 8am. We just left our towels on them and then went to the beach mid-morning. Not many families with school-aged children were there given the time of year, so the beach was relativity quiet including limited jet skis and other water sports, as there is a vendor on the beach. Room rates are expensive though and expect to pay high prices while dining there. There is a daily happy hour with reasonable prices. Additionally, across the street there is a small shopping center where you can dine in or call for take out, as well as a store to purchase beverages.
Lovely

This was our first time visiting Grand Cayman, and the Westin is a fabulous place to stay. All of the reviews about the beautiful beach are spot on! We loved the fact that we walked to the pool area and were just steps away from a gorgeous beach with a nice area to swim and relax; they even have big floats anchored in the water that you can swim out to and spend some time on. Just remember to apply your sunscreen 20 minutes before you swim out there because the sun shines right down on those floats. Additionally at the pool, you can push a button by your chair in order to get help from one of the wait staff. We enjoyed lunch at the pool almost every day and can give high reviews to the poke bowl, the hummus, the fish tacos, the Caesar salad, the veggie burger, the turkey wrap, and especially the French fries (not on the menu)! They also have drink specials Friday through Sunday at the pool, and we enjoyed two days’ worth with $10 drinks. The prices are actually reasonable for food at the pool and at the restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast most days. Our last day, we ate lunch at the restaurant as well. The conch fritters and the Cuban sandwich were fabulous; highly recommend. We learned on our first day at the beach/pool area that our small rolling cooler filled with beer we had bought from the store across the street was not allowed. Poo. We just made multiple runs up to the room when we needed a drink refresher until we ran out of the beer that we had bought. By the way, the pool has very very nice towels that you get from the towel hut without worry of turning in towel cards. I sure appreciated that. While I understand the need for allocating towels by cards, it was so nice just to go to the hut and ask for towels without counting out cards. (Hello to my same-name friend Nora at the towel hut!) Our room was by the elevator and ice machine, but they have the ice machine area closed off with a door to keep the noise down. These small touches make the resort so nice. Another nice thing about the Westin is the water and the rum cakes that they leave in the room; each room has a small refrigerator. They even have evening housekeeping service where towels are changed. Again these are simple things, but they make the stay very special. We found the card on our dresser area on our very last day there that you could get a dollar amount credited to your account if you did not partake in the extra housekeeping, but it was so nice, especially because we traveled as a group of six with two connecting rooms. Shout outs to Becky and Candacy, who through the app, helped me work out our need for the connecting rooms. While we did not have a nice view (we faced the street), the connecting rooms were more important to us. If you have never chatted through the app, I recommend it! The staff is so responsive! The hotel rooms are lovely: very comfortable bed and linens, nice towels and bath products, even very nice shower design (floor and tiles), plenty of drawers to unpack and feel like it is home, and plenty of plugs (one even in the loveseat on the side at the bottom). I only have compliments on the property, the staff, the food, the pool, and everything about our stay! We enjoyed (free) ping pong and Bingo by the pool, even winning a Bingo round with a prize of two free drinks! The hotel is located in an area where it is convenient to walk to dinner at several restaurants, or to hop on a public bus, or grab a taxi right at the front. The bellmen made us feel like royalty as they held the doors open wide every time we excited and entered! We arrived from the airport by taxi, and it was $31 for a party of four. Our favorite taxi driver was Evadney at Evadney’s Taxi Service at 345-517-4008 or 345-927-6459, and we would call for her again if we needed a taxi anywhere! I hope to return sometime soon! (Something odd: On a Saturday evening we were waiting for a public bus across the street from the hotel. A minivan did a U-turn and came up next to our group of six. Two men and one woman were inside, and the man in the back, wearing a dark polo shirt with a Westin logo on the left sleeve tried to convince us to get in, that they were a public bus. This vehicle had NO markings of a public bus. The man continued to tell us to get in, that they would take us where we needed to go. The hairs on my neck stood up as I looked at the front and back of the vehicle, trying to find any markings that it was a public bus. Needless to say, we did NOT get in. Perhaps it was just a group trying to earn some quick money, but it made me very uncomfortable. Suffice it to say, the public buses are a GREAT way to travel at $2.50 USD/$2 Grand Cayman, very comfortable and convenient, but just make sure that the vehicles are clearly marked before you get in one.)
Beautiful beach, Westin over priced

The Westin is a very nice hotel on a beautiful beach. However it's hard to accept the rates which continued to increase during our stay from over $400 per night to over $600 (this does not include the $65 a day resort fee and 11% service charged added to your final room bill , bringing average to over $800 per night) Rooms: not sure if all rooms the same. Ours was nicely renovated but small. Just enough room for bed and small love seat. Bathroom suitable for one person not couples. Single sink, rain head shower (bring shower cap not included). To achieve a resort feel and justify their rates they should make two rooms into one. Families would be cramped in our room Two days out of 5 room was not cleaned when we returned at 3:30 Resort fee: This includes a lounger and Umbrella. If you want a float or anything else that's extra, approx 15 cabanas available for extra $200 a day as well as rattan beds at pool for extra ( all remained empty when we were there) Food and drink: food is good but be aware a 16% gratuity is added to every bill. They don't tell you this, so we paid a 36% gratuity for our first dinner. Our fault for not looking more closely at the bill. Mixed drinks are very good especially in lobby bar but are priced around $20. Makes you think about "ordering another" which we have never had to think about on vacation before.

Westin is located on a beautiful beach which is very nice. The lobby and rooms are renovated. We had some issues with AC and water running in toilet.. it got fixed. We didn’t have ocean view so room faxed parking lot but we really didn’t spend any time on the balcony. Service is pretty decent on the beach.. chairs get set up for you... quality of chairs is another story... can’t really understand why they don’t get upgraded, same goes for towels on the beach. They doing construction on the restaurant.. so menu is very limited and tasteless for the price. Drinks ridiculously expensive.. i think we paid less at Ritz. The resort fee of 65$ per room per night really covers nothing. None of water sports, not even snorkeling masks are included. Can’t really understand that... we paid resort fee at Ritz... everything on the beach.. non motorized is included. Nothing at Westin. We pretty much stayed at Westin because of it’s location on the beach and walking distance to restaurants in town.
