Underwhelmed Needs an Update

zbeth (San Leandro, California) on Apr 13, 2024

We went with friends and upgraded to a Tower Suite. Our checkin was easy and we went right to our rooms. We were in the Gold Tower and were excited to get a suite but we were underwhelmed. The suite has a living area with a bedroom and a nice bathroom but overall dark and outdated. We had some issues right from the beginning. 1) Our safe was locked from the previous occupants and we called the front desk only to be put on hold and after 10 minutes we hung up. We called 2 more times and still put on hold…… we had to leave and just decided to call later. I talked with the housekeeping maids and they said they would have their supervisor call us and she did with a number to call. 2) I came in late and didn’t think to check about phone charging before we left only to find out they don’t have ports to do that anywhere. I finally unplugged the alarm clock and used my charger from home. My guy and I had to take turn charging our phones. He finally gave up and just used the outlet in the sitting room. 3) The room was clean but very dark and we had to kneel on the sofa to open the drapes to let light in. In the bed room it was fine as it’s dark to sleep. 4) Just a warning the restrooms in the Casino are not easy to find and very limited. In general I wouldn’t stay again as it’s further down on the strip and we had to use a taxi a little more than usual. The personnel are great and we had no issues with them. If you do stay just be prepared.

Cheap but in desperate need of a refurbishment

keithE (Guildford, United Kingdom) on Apr 11, 2024

The luxor is fine if you want a cheap hotel that you are going to spend little time in except to sleep. It's really showing its age now and needs a lot money spent on it to refurb the place. For example the pyramid superior room was clean but the bed had a sag in the middle and there was no water provided etc.

Good but dated budget hotel in Vegas

bsachetti (Aurora, Colorado) on Apr 11, 2024

The Good: Staff was very friendly and check-in was simple and efficient. Overall the room was clean and the bed comfortable. Luxor would be a great option for folks who don't plan to spend a lot of time in their room and just want a place to sleep in Vegas. The location is nearly at the south end of the strip (just before Mandalay Bay) so be prepared for a lot of walking. The Bad: The rooms need a lot of TLC and maintenance. Hallways were very dark in places and all the areas visible across the railing look like they haven't been cleaned in many years. My WiFi was extremely unreliable which is unacceptable when resort fees run nearly $40/day. The ceiling in my shower was peeling and falling down. Some of the carpet was cut away and missing from around the heater. The TV was so old and most of the channels were distorted because the TV wasn't compatible with newer HD broadcasts and no guide was available to see what programming was available. Couldn't find a pen or paper in the desk. The windows were extremely dirty to the point there really was no view from them. The property definitely needs some TLC and some investment.

kinda a run down place inside now...

pigeons2011 (New York City, New York) on Apr 10, 2024

The walk from taxi to check in was a mile walk with luggages! Check in line was very long. Luxor is very beautiful from outside but it’s very dark inside. No microwave, fridge, water. No breakfast, coffee. I noticed dust on lamps and tables. There is no cleaning service. We didn’t get our room cleaned. Really expensive to buy anything inside. Water bottle, $6. Places to eat are also expensive. I guess everything on the strip is expensive. Our water got turned off one night into the morning, both cold and hot. Water was very dirty (see pic.) This resort is kinda far from other main strip attractions. Not walkable, you will have to uber everywhere (if you don’t have a car) Uber designation is set at certain area, so you will always have to go there to meet your uber. (This is everywhere on the strip) Will not stay here again.

1h to check in

Rakam75003 (Arcachon, France) on Apr 09, 2024

Well at least we know online check in does not work. Everything is a mess. You wait, you walk, you wait. You walk. Don’t go there you won’t find the confort you should hope for. And for the rest nothing to see except concrete and machines. So disappointed.
